Earth Defense Force 6 Reviews
Earth Defense Force 6 delivers the campy series’ largest, silliest adventure yet, with all the usual jank and a little too much repetition.
Like previous games in the series, Earth Defense Force 6 is a ridiculous B-movie-turned-game filled with giant monsters and explosions.
Earth Defense Force 6 is big, dumb co-op fun and a masterclass in asset recycling.
Earth Defense Force 6 is everything I expected it to be, which is both a blessing and a curse. Sandlot has no intention of shaking up its B-movie arcade shoot ‘em-up formula, and I’m not complaining, but when there is obvious room for ambitious expansion that wouldn’t harm the moment-to-moment joy of mowing down giant insects and evil aliens, I struggle to figure out why the developer is so stuck in its ways. I’ll always love this series, but maybe it’s time for a change?
With Earth Defense Force 6 the voice acting is hilarious, there's some cheesy dialogue, loads of shouting, chanting and singing, and a vibe that doesn't take itself seriously at all. It is brilliant.
It's the same old EDF in terms of graphics, gameplay, and the swarm of (mostly intentional) bugs but online co-op and a mountain of content means it still holds a special charm.
One of the most exilarating games you can try, if you can get over the dated graphics.

EDF 6 is, without a doubt, the very best entry in the series so far. Tremendous fun from top to bottom, from beginning to end, it is everything an EDF fan could have hoped for.
Are you into shooting giant bugs? Do you want to laugh at how ridiculous everything is and find yourself getting embarrassingly into its dialogue-driven story? Then Earth Defense Force 6 is for you, and you should check it out. Otherwise, you won’t have your mind changed as this is repetitive schlock that is fun but nothing groundbreaking.
D3 Publisher used to be a budget publisher and EDF was a standout amongst their releases, but at this point there’s too much EDF for the sake of EDF without any good reason for its existence and at too high of a price point. Like I just can’t put in the effort to care anymore if glorified DLC and patches are going to be released as a brand-new numbered entry at full price.
Earth Defense Force 6 is a big and loud culmination of everything that the series had to offer up until now. If the game feels a bit pricey, then just wait for the sale. And if you have an itch to kill some bugs right about now, then just buy one of the previous games, they are pretty good as well.

Earth Defense Force 6 doesn’t shy away from the franchise’s roots; instead, it embraces them with a tongue-in-cheek narrative and signature frantic combat. While some may groan that it doesn’t revolutionize the genre, it is a heartfelt homage to classic arcade shooters that, simply put, is a blast to play. From its engaging battles and improved visuals to its charmingly ridiculous story, this title is a worthy addition to any action game lover’s collection. Whether you’re tidying up your local city by exterminating massive alien critters or teaming up with friends for a co-op frenzy, Earth Defense Force 6 delivers an adrenaline-filled experience that champions the spirit of fun in gaming.
Earth Defense Force 6 brings the series back and better than ever. It offers the same bug-smashing action with a time travel twist in the tale. Classes remain as satisfying as ever and multiplayer spreads the joy. Don't go in expecting a graphical powerhouse, though.
Earth Defense Force 6 is a pretty basic game, but what it lacks in complexity, it makes up for in silly fun. Blowing up hordes and buildings with your buddy, using these wildly unbalanced weapons, all while losing our minds anytime the game tries to do cool things in the story, it all makes for an excellent experience in co-op. So really we feel we can only recommend this if you have someone to play with. You're going to be buying a game that is extremely unpolished but will give you literal hours of laughing together with a friend and that's worth every penny to be honest. Try EDF6 with a friend if you think this would be appealing to you. Just maybe try playing on PlayStation 4 or 5 instead for the smoother experience.
Earth Defense Force 6 distinguishes itself as the most compelling entry in the series, successfully drawing me back into its captivating gameplay loop, a feat that previous titles had failed to achieve.
EDF6 is confident in wearing its rough edges with pride while also being a gleeful, joyous mess alone or with company.
Earth Defense Force 6 is more of the same, in the best way possible. It can get tedious at times, and it looks more like a PS3 game than a PS5 game, but it delivers all the chills, thrills, and spills you'd expect from the franchise.
Fundamentally, Earth Defence Force 6 is 'more of the same' as 5, with an improved story and some very slight changes. The darker story is much more welcome, and the new enemies and weapons give players more variety. Gameplay wise it is going to be nearly the same as the last main entry, with the pretty cool narrative style of the opening levels. It's not going to blow anyone away, but it's very much in the vein of fun that will suck the hours away.
Still, Earth Defence Force 6 is pure fun distilled into a video game and it is impossible to put down. It’s based on B-grade sci-fi, and is B-grade in every way itself, and I would take that over over-produced, self-important, vapid blockbuster nonsense any time.
