Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 is by no means a great game, though its value is raised by short and varied missions, fun action elements, and an ability to make me feel like a legit action hero. Regardless of how much it borrows from other games, I can't deny that I had a good time blowing through missions and enemy troops. However, the poor graphics and technical issues like long loading times and crashes occasionally ruined the fun. And, minus any sort of multiplayer, there's not a lot of reason to go back.

Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 is a great sniping game let down by a mediocre open world, poor voice acting, technical hitches and terrible writing.

A newfound focus on player choice pushes CI Games' series in a positive direction, but myriad issues keep it from being a top marksman.

For all the temporal distractions, the near-mandatory attitude and dictation its open-World formula ends up presenting may end up dealing a blow to Sniper Ghost Warrior 3‘s small and hidden joys of explorative distraction.

A solid effort from CI Games, Ghost Warrior 3 is a series-best, but hamstrung by long load times and a dull story.

Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 is filled with unforgivable load times, piss poor visuals, and gunplay that is better in nearly every other military shooter. From top to bottom, it's an uninspired and technical mess. Many of Sniper Ghost Warrior 3's issues could have been looked over maybe five years ago, but not in 2017. It's a game that is almost certainly undeserving of your time and even more undeserving of your money. Dodge this bullet and go play almost any other first person shooter from this console era. I can guarantee you that you'll have a better time.

A game that was trying to reach an AAA level, but fails on delivering it due its own faults: being too repetitive, having a dumb AI, not having any multiplayer option... It's fun for a while, but that's it.

I have to admit that Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 has some standout moments, particularly during the main campaign. Had CI Games focused on these moments instead of presenting a dull and empty open world to traverse around (rather quickly), they might have been able to deliver a stellar sniping game. During its best moments, you can't deny the sense of overwhelming satisfaction you get when you successfully sneak around the map without getting caught, and the thrill of taking out your target after that. However, that's all the enjoyment you're going to get from a game that's breaking under the weight of its own ambition.

The view from a sniper's scope has the potential to tell a compelling and meditative story about the nature of armed conflict without the boom and bravado of video game warfare. It can also magnify issues and expose glaring flaws. In the case of Sniper Ghost Warrior 3, the later is true. It's a sloppy, uninspired game at its best. At its worst, it's -- to quote Jonathan North -- "one fucking long exercise in triage."

Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 is not realistic like ARMA III, but if you're looking for a first-person shooter with a tactical soul and an open-world setting, you'll be satisfied.

The relatively unique Georgian setting and the brewing civil war are all but set aside for a by the numbers story of revenge and betrayal, while Jon isn't a very likeable protagonist. The various bugs and crashes also need to be addressed in future patches, as they can ruin the experience. Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 has the sniping down to a tee, which should be expected with the number of years CI has been working on the series, but the surrounding package could be better.

The open world environment and role-playing elements are trying to elevate the game above its rickety predecessors, but on both a technical and design level this sequel is way off target.

Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 could have been a great war sandbox, in which you enjoy every step of your attacks: planning, studying your enemy and specially taking the shots. But it´s many technical failures spoil the experience.

Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 has a decent foundation for a good game, but its many technical issues bring the experience down significantly.

The Sniper: Ghost Warrior series has definitely come a long way since the original was released over half a decade ago. In spite the criticisms the series has received in the past, it's been successful enough that CI Games was adequately confident to shift gears with Ghost Warrior 3 and take a huge risk. And while the developer was successful in improving some of the game's elements including its core gameplay and open world, many of its other aspects, including its visuals and technical performance, failed to hit the mark. At its core, Ghost Warrior 3 is easily enjoyable but its issues just as easily breaks the experience.

Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 is misguided by the unending trend of games going open-world. The idea may have been born with good intentions, but blatantly copying all of another series' structure is a bad look, undone much further by the fact that it does all of those same things very poorly. It's unclear for whom this game was made as it feels more like a middling title we rarely see anymore, possessing neither the polish of AAA nor the admirable quirks of an indie.

There are a lot of cool ideas here; the crafting system for example is robust and interesting, but it doesn't make up for all the issues the game has. Tie that in with the complete lack of originality and Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 feels like a half-baked attempt at the genre. It could have been great; it SHOULD have been interesting, but in the end it just ends up frustrating and disappointing. There are much better games in this genre, and there is little reason to invest in this sniper's mission.

During an opening splash screen, an ethereal voiceover tells you that Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 was "Achieved with Cry-Engine". However, while playing the game, we failed to realise at all what was achieved. Some moderately entertaining combat aside, the release takes too liberally from other, better titles. Technical issues are the final nail in the coffin, making it interesting to see a game aim so low, yet still manage to miss its mark entirely.

The best Sniper Ghost Warrior title to date, the third instalment in CI Games popular sharpshooter series gets enough right to finally elevate the series into the orbit of its peers.
