Thank Goodness You're Here Reviews
The base humor lands because of quality presentation and good comedic timing, though certainly caters to a specific demographic.
Thank Goodness You're Here is a wonderful little indie game that punches higher than it should. The comedic dialogue will have you rolling, and the art style is to die for. A lackluster story and shallow gameplay could drag it down, but somehow work perfectly for the game Panic has created. Know your medium, and good things will come of it.
Again, though, humor is subjective. It’s entirely possible you won’t jive with what this game is doing, as basically every traditional marker of a game here is subservient to humor. If you don’t find Thank Goodness You’re Here funny, you’ll probably get very little out of it. And I’m sorry, but that’s your loss. For those who do share its sense of humor, and who appreciate its cartoon style and absurd parody of village life, Thank Goodness You’re Here is bound to impress. It’s one of the most purely enjoyable games I’ve ever played, and I’m thinking it will be as fun to revisit again and again as the great comedies it echoes.
Thank Goodness You're Here is a succinct, spectacularly funny adventure through an absolutely atrocious fictional Northern England town, packing an obscene number of gags into a three-hour runtime and pulling off some incredible feats of no-frills game design. It's wonderfully-presented, unabashedly weird and extremely Yorkshire.
For better and for worse, Thank Goodness You’re Here! is unlike anything I’ve played recently: a short and mechanically lacking “slapformer” which makes up for its imperfections thanks to a bevy of hilarious jokes and zany artistic sensibilities. The final result is a game that is both more than the sum of its parts and a loving tribute to the archetypal northern English industrial town.
Thank Goodness You're Here is like a season of a British cartoon, a series of linked episodes in which you're constantly being pelted with jokes. And the game looks great, and the humor in it is good, and the characters are funny, and there are a lot of interactive moments as well. It's a unique project, made with great love for English culture, and a great way to cheer yourself up - whether you understand British humor or not.
Spectacularly succinct and ferociously funny, the only downside to Thank Goodness You're Here! is that there isn't more of it.
Thank Goodness You're Here! is a game that's quintessentially British, inviting players to explore a Northern English town and rub shoulders with its bizarre locals. It's weird, it's clever, and it's utterly surreal at times, but it's always entertaining. It's just a shame that your visit is over so soon, but there's perhaps reason to return to it a time or two. In any case, it's an absolute delight while it lasts.
A truly rare example of pure absurd comedy in the video game industry.

Incredibly British and nonsensical slapping-simulator. And I mean it in the best possible way!

Thank Goodness You’re Here! It's a charming game with a fun aesthetic and approach, but the lack of a map and short length may limit the experience for some people. The title has a unique style and elements of humor, and because it is light and unusual, it delivers good times to players looking for entertainment. There are areas, however, that could be improved for a more satisfying and long-lasting experience.

From its innuendos when milking cows, to the way the citizens interact with one another, it makes it a truly enjoyable and memorable experience. While at times the repetition of walking back and forth can set in, the game rarely drops the ball of making a joke. Give this game to your dad, neighbor or friend and watch them carefully explore what the town has to offer. I can guarantee their puzzlement will surely turn to laughter before they exclaim Thank Goodness for this Game.
Playing Thank Goodness You're Here! made me laugh so many times throughout its oddball adventure that I easily recommend playing it.
Thank Goodness You're Here is a unique title, able to bring the essence of satirical cartoons to the screen, pairing it with a skilled and irreverent dissection of English society. Despite its short length and uncertainties around replayability, its undeniable strengths make it a comedic experience not to be missed.

In Thank Goodness You're Here! we spend a good couple of hours punching people. The goal is to help them, and we actually succeed in doing so, even if we get to the solution of the various entanglements through absurd situations and recurring gags. Between grotesque characters, sexual innuendos, spitefulness and puns, we've rediscovered a bit of that Untitled Goose Game vibe, though here it's decidedly more lashing out and less chill. If you're looking for a short, cartoony and hilarious title.... Oh, thank God you're here!

Thank Goodness You’re Here is a crazy, hilarious but short game that perfectly encapsulates the strange inhabitants of Britain. Whilst it may not be for everyone, and it’s definitely a bit short for the price it’s asking for, its writing, jokes and charm make this a hilarious, unique game that takes you on such a bizarre journey through good ol’ England.
It’s a strange game that’s probably not going to appeal to everyone’s sensibilities – but if it appeals to your sensibilities and sense of humour, there’s a good chance it might be your game of the year.
Players must navigate Barnsworth (sometimes tricky without a map or quest log) while helping its scattered citizens with various whimsical tasks. These folk are beautifully animated and voiced with utter charm by comedy performers including Matt Berry, Em Humble and Chris Cantrill. Each is imbued with an exacerbated cadence so they sound like adult versions of the supporting players from Wallace And Gromit. Standout characters include a pair of bickering young supermarket workers, a handyman trying to avoid the advances of a randy fish and chip shop owner, and a conspiracy theorist demanding ‘bring back asbestos’. A particular highlight is the convoluted backstory of Roger the greengrocer and his oddly shaped head. Thank Goodness You’re Here! is a sublime piece of entertainment, as much cartoon as game, with a hilarious script performed by an absolutely top-drawer cast. Developers James Carbutt and Will Todd (who also contribute to the performances) have a style that’s unlike anything else around.
Thank Goodness You’re Here! managed to make a typical British humor experience that's also a casual and relaxing game. It isn't only one of the best representations of comedy in videogames but also one of the most interesting games released this year.

Thank Goodness You’re Here! delivers adult comedy with real bite, even if the latter half feels long in the tooth. Gleefully disassembling a Northern England town is its own reward. Unapologetically rowdy humor and eccentric townsfolk never wear out their stay. But retreading areas instead of tighter editing certainly scuffs the welcome mat. Your silly salesperson strays from the path a bit, but Thank Goodness You’re Here! ultimately puts the funny in “funny business.”
