Astro Bot Reviews
Just like Deadpool & Wolverine was a great tribute to Fox's Marvel universe, Astro Bot is a great homage to PlayStation. Nostalgia hits hard at various moments, and I admit there were some moments of pure joy that took me back to my childhood. In short, Astro Bot is not a game for kids; it's a game for adults who haven't allowed themselves to abandon their inner child.

Astro Bot is the best platforming game on PlayStation this generation bar none. It's a pure joy to play and could just be the best PlayStation Studio first-party game on the PS5.
You mean to tell me PlayStation could’ve been making games like this the entire time instead of 9,000 photorealistic sad dad simulators? 'Astrobot' is a colorful, whimsical, mechanically tight, and overall delightful 3D platformer that’s also packed full of references to PlayStation history. While 'Astro Bot’s reverence for the PlayStation brand occasionally feels forced, and probably can’t sustain itself beyond this game, it’s such a goddamn thrill for the 10 or so hours it takes to finish that I think it’s a must-play for any PS5 owner.
Whether it’s the visuals, gameplay, or soundtrack, Astro Bot picks up the best pieces of PlayStation’s most memorable franchises and mashes them all together in the most endearing way possible, all while effortlessly balancing its own identity through its innovative platforming set-pieces.
Astro Bot is frankly superb in its execution, offering delightful worlds, abilities, and charm. Its presentation across its celebration of PlayStation’s history is twofold; one where it honors what came before and the other side of the coin in that it shows how much IP PlayStation has intentionally left behind. Regardless, Astro Bot deserves to be in your collection, not just because of how great it is, but that it hopefully sells well enough to allow other teams at Sony to not follow the same basic third-person over-the-shoulder narrative trend the publisher has been clinging to for years. We need more charm and experimentation from Sony, and this game is hopefully just the start.
There are few games that manage to strike the perfect balance between nostalgia and innovation, but Astro Bot pulls it off effortlessly. From the moment you take control of the shiny little robot, you’re thrust into a world that feels both familiar and brand new. It’s a celebration of PlayStation’s past, while pushing the boundaries of what modern platformers can achieve.
Astro didn't just save the ship's passengers but also PlayStation 2024. The work signed by Team Asobi is indeed a true demonstration of love for the Sony brand and for those looking for a fun and engaging platformer (all the more so if you have a good video game history memory). The only ones who might turn their noses up at it are those who demand a significant degree of difficulty from a platform game. Nevertheless, in our opinion Astro Bot is a must-buy for all PS5 owners.

Astro Bot is a massive love letter to the 30-year history of PlayStation. With creative and charming ideas, the game is a blast to experience, with many cameos that left me astonished. The technical aspects of the title, such as its DualSense and physics implementations, sit at the top of the market. While there are some underutilized abilities and features, Astro Bot is a great time. This is exactly the type of game PlayStation needs more of: a focused adventure that never wavers from its mission of being fun.
Astro Bot is one of the best games you can experience on PlayStation 5.

Astro Bot is not only one of the best games I have played this year but one of my most fun video game experiences in recent memory.
I don’t remember the last time a video game just made me smile from ear to ear, making me hope it could never end. In fact, this may be Astro Bot‘s biggest issue: it doesn’t last forever. I simply want more of it. Astro Bot is serotonin in digital form.
Astro Bot is a flawless 3D Platformer that stands among the industry's finest and is an instant classic. Its incredible level of design, boss battles, and mechanics build upon the best platformers that came before, making this title more than just a celebration of PlayStation's past; it is a surefire staple for its future.
Astro Bot is a breath of fresh air from PlayStation’s first parties, as it truly encapsulates that old-school feeling, where Sony didn’t have the same formulaic game and took chances on other genres. Team Asobi knocked it out of the park with a game that is just tremendously fun to play.
Astro Bot is nothing short of a delight. It takes everything that made that small tech demo a hit and builds on its best parts while improving on the shortcomings. There are a few frustrating moments and it isn’t flawless, but there is more than enough to keep you invested from start to finish. PlayStation has finally got a killer mascot on its hands, one that I hope it doesn’t forget about anytime soon. If you’re looking for a fun and cute adventure filled with challenging levels, addictive collectibles, and a plethora of PlayStation references, Astro Bot is the game for you.
If you own a PS5, then I do think Astro Bot is a must have for the system. Not only is it a fantastic platformer from start to finish with plenty of content for the 14 hours or so it takes to do everything, it’s also a love letter to PlayStation’s history and honestly even gaming as a whole. I honestly haven’t seen this many franchises represented in one game since Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and it was great that Sony even included series they don’t own, although some have a strong history on PlayStation as well.
ASTRO BOT is a real treasure that captures the heart and soul of what makes a platformer great. With expertly crafted levels, inventive mechanics, and delightful nods to PlayStation history, it’s hard not to fall in love with every moment.
There are games that remind us why we fell in love with video games in the first place. In my opinion, Astro Bot is one of those games. It’s a phenomenally polished title, featuring great audiovisuals and, above all, brilliant gameplay that never gets boring. It's also a family-friendly game, perfect for everyone to enjoy together.

Astro Bot is considered the celebration Sony has cooked for the 30th anniversary of PlayStation, and boy, what a celebration this is! So, in addition to being a phenomenal showcase for PlayStation's legacy and its rich history throughout the 30 years, it is also a great game made with great passion and love for this industry. The game offers a great level design and brilliant gameplay ideas, with stunning visuals and a great soundtrack. However, the game may have suffered a bit for giving fresh ideas in its second half, and despite the frustration, this hasn’t affected my experience with the game a lot because of how great those levels are designed. So, I really enjoyed my time with Astro Bot and of course, it is a must-play.
