Shogun Showdown Reviews
A near flawless roguelike, Shogun Showdown flaunts excellent depth, and an easy-to-learn but hard to master gameplay loop.
Shogun Showdown is an instant indie essential. A perfect little core of left-to-right puzzle-styled violence that plays like a sort of bloody rhythm game, and it makes for an endlessly addictive experience that's easy to pick up and lose hours to. There's enough progression in skills to keep it interesting over the long haul, and plenty of mixing and matching in your attack and special cards to ensure no two battles are ever the same. This is must-play stuff.
Shogun Showdown is well worth a shot if you’re up for a challenge while leaning more towards a casual atmosphere. The gameplay and combat might look a little daunting, and you’ll find yourself getting drawn back to it for another round after each run. Luckily, with an endless supply of skills and weapons to unlock, there’s never a dull moment to be had, and we can’t forget about the speedrunner potential.
Shogun Showdown is a dangerously addictive roguelike but in the best way possible. Its challenging but fair gameplay encourages you to learn from your mistakes, and the more you play, the more you’ll improve. It’s perfect for fans of the genre, but its quick play sessions and easy-to-understand mechanics also make it a great choice for gamers who are short on time. Don’t be deceived by the simple pixel art. Shogun Showdown offers a deep, rewarding experience that’s well worth exploring. The game excels at delivering satisfying, strategic gameplay that keeps you coming back for more. A free demo is available on the Nintendo Switch eShop.
Shogun Showdown is a turn-based strategy roguelite that will definitely require all your concentration to overcome your biggest challenges. The large number of weapons and skills, as well as a great setting inspired by Japanese culture, allow the game to hold your attention for many hours.

Shogun Showdown is a cracking game that lures you in nicely with its simplicity but eventually becomes a rather complex beast with a lot of very well thought-out moving parts.
Shogun Showdown is a very cool and addictive turn-based combat game that will test your tactical prowess. The variety of weapons, skills and enemies lends itself well to creating awesome moments in the heat of battle.
This wonderfully clever strategy roguelike demands your best, and it deserves to get it.
A roguelite deckbuilder has finally arrived to properly revamp the gameplay that Slay the Spire seemed to have carved in stone. The management of our warrior's movement adds a lot of tactics to the fighting, and the non-draw deck abilities almost completely eliminate the luck factor by requiring extensive planning of one's moves, especially when trying to chain combos to eliminate multiple foes at once. The progression is the same as usual, alternating between battles and refreshment shops, but many other new features have been introduced.

Shogun Showdown is a notable addition to the indie catalog and one of the most addictive games I've played recently. With a solid combination of roguelike and deckbuilding mechanics, as well as a strong strategic factor, even with short runs, the title is capable of providing good hours of fun.

Exceptional turn-based combat, gorgeous visuals and refreshingly simple mechanics make Shogun Showdown a tactical roguelike with serious depth.
Shogun Showdown is a title that risks innovating. This makes it shine in its gameplay, art and mechanics. Something capable of surprising too much.

Shogun Showdown is a challenging game and a hard game to put down. The tactical scenarios during every run are enthralling since even with a less-than-desirable hand of cards, it is possible to overcome with cunning. It’s a deceptively simple game with crude pixel art at first glance that becomes a black hole that pulls you in with its alluring strategy.
Shogun Showdown, despite all the tools and abilities you can rely on is brutally difficult in most circumstances, especially if you have the habit of acting before you really analyze every move or press the wrong button, something that has killed some very lengthy runs for me. Still, Shogun Showdown is a remarkably tight strategy game that looks good, feels good, and has some clever tricks to make you feel like a master tactician, just make sure to not accidentally keep pressing the turn-around button and getting a host of swords shoved through your back.
Overall, Shogun Showdown is one of those games that, while it may not keep you engaged for a very long time, offers a truly enjoyable gaming experience in a few days to a few weeks. The gameplay mechanics are very cleverly designed, and the delightful upgrade path of this roguelike makes you quite addicted for a while. After each round, you'll eagerly and with a stronger sense, go for the next attempt. So if you enjoy roguelike games, Shogun Showdown is an experience I recommend not missing out on
