The moment I faced a monster that reminded me of the Sand Worm from Dune, I realized I was enjoying every minute of this game. It offers an unprecedented level of immersion in preparing for battles and fighting them as if each one were your last. This is the series’ best and most in-depth combat system to date, paired with one of the most diverse weapon arsenals in the entire gaming industry.

Monster Hunter Wilds perfectly combines the strengths of its predecessors, World and Rise, making it more accessible than ever with its various quality-of-life features, while still managing to avoid overly diluting the gameplay. New features like Focus Slam and Wounds add new & fun elements to the battles and the changing weather creates the impression of a vibrant game world in which you can move (almost) completely freely.

Despite the slightly toned-down difficulty, Monster Hunter Wilds is a fantastic new entry in the series. It refines and improves almost every aspect of the formula, making the game more fluid, immersive, and accessible. The busywork has been reduced, the monsters are as fun to fight as ever, and the world is richer and more dynamic. Whether you’re a longtime fan or a complete newcomer, this is one of the best Monster Hunter experiences yet—and one that will keep me coming back for hundreds of hours.

743 / 5,000 Monster Hunter Wilds is as good as World, and that's excellent. Its gameplay systems, captivating setting, and awesome monsters work in perfect harmony to deliver an experience that can keep us hooked for hundreds of hours while we farm the gear we want and have fun with friends. The story is the best in the series so far, and while it has some thing that don't work, it's a good effort. It's a great game, but I lament the lack of innovation and willingness to take risks that the series demonstrated in Monster Hunter Rise and the loss of a certain friction that made hunts more interesting. That and the occasional performance hitches are issues, but they don't make the game any less fun.

Monster Hunter Wilds is a solid entry in one of Capcom’s best-selling franchises. The new features, such as Focus mode and the seamless open world, are welcome additions to gameplay. However, the removal of previous mechanics and modes, the lack of new weapons, and poor technical issues are inevitably disappointing. Two steps forward, one step back.

Monster Hunter Wilds is exactly what longtime fans expect: familiar gameplay with faster combat and added tactics, plus improved multiplayer. Newcomers get a better—if mediocre—story that works as a decent tutorial. Unfortunately, poor graphics and weak optimization drag the game down, making it look and run badly. This technical shortcoming seriously hurts its mainstream appeal.

Monster Hunter Wilds promises a lavish feast of epic hunts and wild open-world freedom—but is it all just a pretty illusion? After 70 hours in, I’m here to tell you the truth: this game isn’t serving the full cake it claims to be. Instead, we’re left with a tray of disconnected cupcakes—tasty, sure, but not the immersive experience we were promised. From brilliant combat to a lackluster story and hollow exploration, my review breaks down exactly where Wilds shines and where it crumbles. Monster Hunter Wilds improves on everything that the predecessors have to offer and then some; it's everything you want out of a sequel and surpasses the high standard set by the likes of World and Rise.

Overall Monster Hunter Wilds is a game with equal positives and negatives. The environments and monsters all look absolutely beautiful, but the framerate and performance to make said areas look good can cut the impact. The big monster fights are fun and tension-filled, but it can get tiring doing the same fights over and over again and you have to get through an entire campaign just to get to the really good stuff.

Monster Hunter Wilds is the beginning of a new era for the legendary Capcom franchise: through its many and appreciated gameplay changes, its surprisingly interesting story and its wild variety in the monsters roster, Wilds manages to be a great game both for newcomers and returning fans. The main issue with the game lies in its flawed technical aspect, something you either have to overcome with a powerful machine or just ignore: while it's still certainly worth it, it's a cause for concern.

Monster Hunter: Wilds is a triumphant new entry. Whilst the story does have some issues with its writing and pacing issues it is one still worth paying attention to and once that’s done the game truly begins. With the same exceptional gameplay loop, we’ve come to love. There are a few rough edges but none of them stand in the way of Wilds just being my latest addiction.

Capcom went above and beyond to make most of the Monster Hunter Wilds experience as enjoyable as possible. I went into the game wanting it to be a slight increase from Monster Hunter World and was surprised by the revamped weapons, environmental depth, and enjoyable cast of characters. Gone are the days of wishing the handler would get eaten by a Ratholos. Monster Hunter Wilds may have a few issues with online play and menu navigation but they are more than outweighed by the addictive combat and customization.

Monster Hunter Wilds is a title that despite having serious performance problems tries to innovate the Monster Hunter formula by bringing a more developed plot that does not always manage to involve us as it should and a lower difficulty than usual, but balances with new designs of monsters that are extremely more elaborate and new mechanics that change our approach to hunting. In short, an excellent title that I trust can improve with the constant support of Capcom that has always guaranteed with the latest chapters of the series.

Capcom knows the importance of Monster Hunter Wilds and the franchise, and it shows. The seven-year gap between Worlds and Wilds has been put to excellent use, with the latter easily grabbing the crown as the best mainline game, no mean feat considering the storied origins it comes from. Whether it be the world-building or the visual quality, the monsters and the combat, or the chase for the next big hunt and improved gear, fans will have to prepare themselves for the hunt of a lifetime with Wilds, and there’s nothing better than that.

Monster Hunter Wilds is a solid entry within the Monster Hunter series, and a great game for fans and newcomers alike. Long time fans might be annoyed or put off by the on-rails story the game forces you to finish, but once you get to High Rank it is a return to form. Meanwhile this same intro is perfect for easing new players into this universe, and there are some interesting moments that really stand out. Is it the greatest story ever told? Of course not. But it was at least entertaining.

Monster Hunter Wilds is a bold evolution for the franchise, embracing a more open-world approach while making the experience more accessible than ever. For newcomers, this is arguably the best entry point into the series, offering streamlined mechanics and a gentler learning curve. However, veterans may find the excessive hand-holding and sluggish early-game pacing to be a step backward from previous entries.

Monster Hunter Wilds doesn’t stray too far from the pack, but the update via the RE Engine and some added mobility do make their presence known. While Wilds is certainly easier than previous editions, it carves its own path and delivers a truly memorable adventure.
