Marvel’s Wolverine is a solid video game, and I enjoyed my time with it, but I left wanting more from both the game and the character. It succeeds at making you feel like Wolverine, even if the game surrounding that fantasy isn't always as compelling. Its combat, structure, and lack of meaningful stakes keep it from reaching the heights of Insomniac’s Spider-Man games. Despite the technical excellence on display, this is the studio’s weakest offering yet.
Marvel’s Wolverine succeeds in capturing the essence of embodying the X‑Men’s iconic anti‑hero. Unlockables provide satisfying rewards, particularly for longtime Wolverine fans, and the narrative delivers a fresh perspective that only just sustains player investment through to the finale. However, an overly repetitive combat loop, simplistic enemy and boss encounters, and level designs that often drag undermine the experience. What begins as a visceral thrill of carving through foes gradually risks becoming tedious and mechanical midway through the campaign. For players already invested in Insomniac’s Marvel Universe, the expanded story and world‑building justify the experience, and for those eager to step into Wolverine’s shoes, the game offers a bloody, uncompromising ride.
While Marvel’s Wolverine has several issues, it’s the epic motorcycle chases and key action moments that will stick with players after the credits roll.
Marvel’s Wolverine is a cinematic single-player game offering light-hearted fun and spectacular graphics, produced by a much-loved studio that seems out of its depth. The lack of depth in the combat, the extremely simplified design and the pacing issues made me feel that a 13-hour game drags on longer than it should.

Marvel's Wolverine is a great game that never quite reaches greater heights, but it will nonetheless please die-hard fans with its brutal and visceral combat, engaging story and excellent cinematics.
This is a turn-your-brain-off-and-go-for-a-ride spectacle that occasionally punches above its weight. That works to some extent, but Marvel’s Wolverine doesn’t live up to the creative standard Insomniac Games is known for, and Logan has never been known for playing it safe.
With *Marvel's Wolverine*, Insomniac almost perfectly captured how we should feel when we look at Wolverine, but not quite how we should feel when we hold the controller.

Marvel's Wolverine is a brutal, bloody return to Insomniac Games' Marvel universe, and it does a great job of expanding the existing world and scope. Logan may be an undeniably difficult character to play in a video game; however, the developers elevated what it means to play as Wolverine by crafting a mature story that jettisons the established expectations of an X-Men game. For all the blood and violence the character finds himself surrounded by, it's thanks to Liam McIntyre's performance that you can see how much Wolverine cares for those around him and tries to do right by them despite being an ultimate weapon. Marvel's Wolverine is easily Insomniac's best narrative work, with excellent character work to match.
Insomniac’s first foray into the «X-Men» universe gets a lot of things right. The combat system is a perfect fit for Wolverine’s animalistic nature, the bloody action sequences are spectacularly staged, and the pacing is almost perfect thanks to the variety of mission types. The fact that the gameplay formula feels a little dated? Who cares. What does matter, however, is the botched story, which is dragged down by flat characters and dumb dialogue. Wolverine also feels a little less fluid than Insomniac’s Spider-Man, both in terms of movement and combat. Still, fans of the Canadian killer mutant and Insomniac’s games can jump in without hesitation.

Insomniac Games has once again delivered a very cool game with Marvel's Wolverine, offering a more story-driven and linear experience than the Spider-Man games. While the story feels somewhat stretched towards the end and the combat is fairly simple, the game performs well both graphically and gameplay-wise. If you're looking for a cool, story-driven action-adventure game that will keep you busy for around twenty hours, Marvel's Wolverine is definitely worth adding to your wishlist.

Wolverine outstrips any previouss game with the hero regarding graphics, cineastic production and narrative (altxxahrough more because of excellent characterizaton than the plot itself). But most of all playing Insomniac Games' action adventure is an absolute blast.

Marvel’s Wolverine is another impressive example of just how great Insomniac Games is at adapting iconic superheroes into the video game medium. The combat isn’t especially complicated, but there’s something uncomfortably satisfying about just how fun it is to mow down foes as Marvel’s most famous mutant. I’m curious to see where this version of Logan’s story goes next, as Marvel’s Wolverine has proven that Insomniac’s take on the Marvel universe just keeps getting more intriguing.

Marvel’s Wolverine demonstrates that Insomniac fully understood that simply replicating the Spider-Man formula wouldn't be enough. The decision to opt for a more linear, aggressive, and focused adventure suits Logan perfectly, delivering a highly satisfying combat system and a technically impressive production. Not every aspect hits the same high notes—side missions and activities could have offered more variety, and the story shines more through its characters than through its ability to surprise. Overall, however, Wolverine’s claws leave their mark, giving PlayStation an exclusive that is perfect for fans of the Canadian mutant or anyone seeking an intense, straightforward experience.

Marvel’s Wolverine doesn’t reinvent the superhero genre, but it delivers where it matters. With brutal combat, spectacular set pieces and a strong cinematic presentation, it’s a predictable but incredibly enjoyable Wolverine game that is seemingly setting up for an exciting future.
If you go into Marvel’s Wolverine with lowered expectations, able to look past some of its flaws, and not expect another Marvel’s Spider-Man, it might not hit the same heights as some of Insomniac Games’ best work, but there is enough here for it to be a worthwhile adventure for fans, both casual and devoted, of Marvel’s ever-popular but grumpy hero.
