Tails of Iron 2: Whiskers of Winter is truly a successful sequel. If you liked the first part, you'll get an experience here enriched with elements that players have been waiting for. This title is bigger and more advanced than the original, yet it still adheres to the mechanics that were loved. However, the experience might be slightly cumbersome for players unfamiliar with the series. The artistic style might suggest a game aimed at a younger audience, but the high difficulty level on default settings will quickly test the player's skills.

Tails of Iron II: Whiskers of Winter retains its strong suites (impeccable presentation, satisfying combat) from its predecessor, but the simplistic quest design and, especially, the rote exploration have room for improvement and are holding it back from reaching its true potential.

Tails of Iron 2: Whiskers of Winter is the classic more of the same, following the formula that made its predecessor successful, expanding it with a couple of small novelties and delighting the eyes with particularly inspired artistic work. A video game designed primarily for fans of the first chapter and also suitable for those looking for a challenging Metroidvania.

Odd Bug Studio has managed to build on the first game in some great ways, with deeper combat, even better visuals, and the magnanimous Doug Cockle narrating throughout, but a boring story and some lackluster additions make it fall just short of being perfect.

Tails of Iron 2: Whiskers of Winter makes up for it with its impressive combat, detailed visuals, interesting medieval fantasy with animals and a narrative that heightens the atmosphere. However, the game fails to build on the achievements of its predecessor and suffers from superficial systems, bland level design, unnecessary backtracking and repetitive and unbalanced fights. The new epic of the rat kingdom may please with what it has good, but it will not impress those who played the first one.

Despite the few frustrations that I faced, I enjoyed Tails of Iron 2: Whiskers of Winter. I love to see small studios create games they’re passionate about, especially when the studio is close to home. Odd Bug Studios have carved out a great identity for their Tails of Iron series. I’ll be checking out the first title, and whatever they create next. If you’re looking for a medium length game, with tough as nails combat to test your metal, try this. Tails of Iron 2: Whiskers of Winter gets a Thumb Culture Gold Award.

It’s disappointing how often Tails of Iron 2 leads me to wander the darkened valleys of over-demanding combat and back-track-demanding save points. However, the view from the mountain summits – the game’s secret-filled levels, propelling narrative, and magical visuals – cast sunlight on even my hardest experiences.

Tails of Iron 2: Whiskers of Winter is a 2D action game with RPG elements and a strong emphasis on demanding combat, influenced by soulslike mechanics. Continuation of Tails of Iron from 2021, it takes its solid base and expands it with new mechanics and possibilities that enrich the final result, although more groundbreaking innovations may be missed. If you enjoyed the first game, this sequel promises an even more intense and challenging experience, with the same essence, but with enough new features that make it more than recommended.

Tails of Iron 2: Whiskers of Winter truly surprised me. It looked engaging from the few trailers that were released, but I never expected to be fully blown away, and yet, it’s a game that I adore. The game runs impressively on the Switch with not a single technical blemish. Arlo’s journey is emotional and engaging, with combat that suits the Warden of Wastes to find allies to combat this vampiric threat. With a wide arrangement of weapons and impressive abilities, you’ll find this to be a memorable adventure and one worth taking

Tails of Iron 2: Whiskers of Winter builds upon its predecessor's foundation while expanding the scope and refining the mechanics. The gorgeous art style, challenging combat, and engaging world-building create an experience that stands out in the crowded Soulslike genre. While the story might follow familiar beats, the execution and attention to detail make it feel fresh and compelling.

Tails of Iron 2: Whiskers of Winter is a worthy successor that refines and expands on the strengths of its predecessor. The combat is more fluid and responsive, the music and voice acting impress, and the visual style is breathtaking. Unfortunately, some of the new additions are disappointing, with the grappling hook and monster hunting feeling like hindrances rather than improvements. The game offers both players looking for an impressive adventure game and a challenging soulslike a fun experience that can easily take up 20 hours. As long as you set the difficulty correctly!

Tails of Iron 2: Whiskers of Winter is a thoroughly enjoyable Metroidvania with detailed action-RPG mechanics, that still offers challenging soulslike combat without feeling like a punishing ride on its easiest mode. On it’s normal and hard difficulties, the game offers a grind that will leave you feeling tested at best, and a crying mess at very worst. It’s an extremely well-put-together experience that I can wholeheartedly recommend.

Tails of Iron 2: Whiskers of Winter is an incredible adventure game, one that will challenge you with its engaging combat mechanics, wow you with its incredible art and worldbuilding, and pull on your heartstrings with its powerful story, but not without making you chuckle at a clever rat pun or six in the process.

Tails of Iron 2 is a worthy sequel that fans of the original will certainly enjoy. For 24.99, you’ll get a gorgeous little action RPG and 15 to 20 hours of content, which is well worth the money in my book.

Tails of Iron 2: Whiskers of Winter is a brutal tale that feels like it came straight out of a storybook. From its visual style to its excellent narration, right down to its cast of characters, the developers didn't hold back from certain actions if they thought it served the story well to take them, and that's a great thing. I can wholeheartedly recommend that you try Tails of Iron 2 when you can. Tails of Iron 2: Whiskers of Winter also runs great on the Steam Deck, with excellent controls, a smooth 60 FPS experience, and great battery life. There isn't much you can say against it, so don't worry about playing this one on the go.
