Masterful in artistic and narrative aspects and with an impeccable soundtrack, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is one of the best surprises of the year and stands out positively in a market that has started to charge too much for experiences that don't deliver what they should.

Expedition 33 is magnificent in every possible way. I was in love with it whole time and while playing I’ve became so engaged with characters and the story surround them I forgot the flow of time entirely. This is clearly the future for JRPG’s and it’s sense of scale is outstanding. Definitely a classic for years to come.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a rare triumph for such a small studio. The devs at Sandfall Interactive aimed for the stars, and they delivered a game that JRPG fans have always wanted from a Western studio. I can't recommend this game enough.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a game destined to mark an entire generation of players, as well as revolutionize turn-based combat as we know it. An RPG to remember.

A paradigm shift for turn-based RPGs, respectful of their heritage yet unafraid to dismantle and rebuild their foundations.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is an RPG that raises the bar in many ways with an engaging battle system and intriguing story that's set in a beautiful and unique world. It's definitely limited in a few ways, though, but not so much to take away from its must-play status. ⚜️
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is arguably not just one of the best games of 2025 but one of the best RPGs of recent years. The turn-based battles with real-time elements work brilliantly, the abilities and perks give players a tremendous amount of choice in how to assemble their party and the story kept me glued to the screen the entire time. At the same time the characters gain believability thanks to the fantastic voice acting and the soundtrack does its part to draw you into the enchanting world of Lumière and you'll likely not let go anytime soon.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 isn’t just a great RPG—it’s a statement. A declaration that there’s still room in this industry for big ideas, deeply personal storytelling, and gameplay systems that respect the player’s time and intelligence. It combines razor-sharp combat with haunting world design, memorable characters, and a level of customization that lets you truly own the way you play. The story sticks with you, the soundtrack lingers in your head, and the world invites you back in long after the credits roll.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 raises the RPG standard with its inventive world and thoughtful story.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, the turn-based RPG from Sandfall Interactive, has revolutionized the genre, taking a community accustomed to ongoing sagas by surprise. Sandfall Interactive has created a brilliant video game, one that has achieved masterpiece status. There is no other turn-based RPG today that offers a similar experience, and few can match this instant classic. I am convinced that it is the best game of 2025 and that, in a few years' time, we will see its true impact on the genre.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 not only secures a spot on my list of the best games of 2025, but also on my list of favorite games of all time. I'm in love with its wonderful, mystery-filled story, its long-suffering yet charismatic characters, its secret-filled map, and its perfectly balanced combat system. Some elements could be more polished, but that doesn't take away from its title of a work of art.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 may not be perfect, but for a first game from the team at Sandfall Interactive, it’s a remarkable achievement that tells a wonderful story while offering incredibly engaging combat and worldbuilding. This is an RPG I won’t soon forget and one that lapsed fans of the genre should absolutely check out.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 deeply impressed on Xbox Series S, primarily thanks to its phenomenal turn-based combat system that feels like a rhythmic dance, driven by precise timing and audio cues. Despite a somewhat predictable story and thematic missteps with cosmetic collecting, the game shines with its stunning visuals, outstanding soundtrack, and surprising technical polish. This title is a strong recommendation for fans of deep RPGs with innovative combat, showcasing the promising potential of Sandfall Interactive.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is living proof that games are indeed an art form, with its moving, poetic story and philosophical ideas, captivating graphics and soundtrack, not to mention its gameplay that combines the best of two completely different gaming worlds. If this is the fruit of a bored Ubisoft developer, then let them be bored day and night!

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 stuns with breath-taking visuals, emotional storytelling, and innovative combat. My Game of the Year—an unforgettable masterpiece.
Clair Obscur came at the wrong place at the wrong time for me, and I wish I was a part of another timeline that allowed me to enjoy it more than I actually did. So for those who come after, if you’re someone that hasn’t made time for it yet, do make sure that there are no other distractions when you begin your expedition.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is not only a refined and conscious product, it is a total emotional experience, capable of shaking and leaving a deep mark. It is a work that speaks to the belly and the heart, that dares, moves and surprises, with masterful world building, a narrative dense with meaning and gameplay that pays homage to the past without remaining captive to it. It is rare to come across something so powerful and complete: a game that takes you by the hand and walks you toward an ending that, in whatever form you experience it, will stick with you. No rhetoric: this is a masterpiece, and that's all.
