Rusty Rabbit Reviews
Rusty Rabbit is a cute and entertaining Metroidvania that offers such a unique and fresh experience that I found it hard to put down. However, if you're looking for more challenge and excitement then its laidback formula may not be for you. š
I enjoyed my time with Kiryu Stamp and the Ice Age II freezing boogaloo. I love the world building done here for the fact that only rabbits survived everything. No foxes, no wolves, just rabbits. Itās honestly clever with the fact that if you visit the church, you can learn the stories they have turned into a faith. Like seriously, you need to invest in getting the cost to get each story unlocked. Itās a bloody hoot. While everything about the game is amazing to me, the only thing that holds me back from giving this game the Thumb Culture Platinum Award is the game handling. I died too many times because the Junkster jumped too high or far, meaning that I either land improperly or slid off the blocks. Iām willing to revisit my review if those issues are resolved. Now, go out there and enjoy the junk out of this game. I give Rusty Rabbit the Thumb Culture Gold Award
Rusty Rabbit isn't bold in its proposal, but it's not bad either. The game has surrounded itself with great ideas, combining metroidvania and action with some RPG and humor. Of course, the massive repetitiveness caused by backtracking and the flaws in the gameplay can cause a certain exhaustion, but it's still a title that rewards those who make it to the end with a good adventure.

Rusty Rabbit starts strong with its rich lore and initially addictive gameplay, offering players a unique and engaging experience, despite the lackluster controls. However, once the novelty wears off, the flaws become more apparent, resulting in a tedious and unpolished platformer that struggles to maintain its initial appeal. Itās a missed opportunity, as the gameās unique charm unfortunately fails to hit the mark. For those willing to look past its quirks, Rusty Rabbit offers moments of Metroidvania-style fun. However, the repetitive gameplay and lack of endgame depth detract from the overall experience. Due to these shortcomings, the main campaign, which runs about 12 hours, is difficult to sustain.
Rusty Rabbit is a thoroughly enjoyable mech-hopping adventure. It blends quirky humour, heartfelt storytelling, and satisfying action in a way few games dare to. Yes, the cutscenes can break the pacing, and the Switch version isnāt flawless, but the charm and originality more than make up for it. If youāre looking for something that feels different, something that proves middle-aged rabbits (and gamers) still have plenty of kick left in them, this is one worth digging up. A free demo is also available on the eShop.
Rusty Rabbit blends heartfelt storytelling and platforming action in a post-human world ruled by rabbits. While its mech controls require patience, the emotional core and worldbuilding shine through, delivering a charming experience that lingers longer than expected.
Rusty Rabbit is a 2D platformer with a very strange concept, bad implementation of ideas, and a very good main character, whose charisma and bad-ass appearance are simply not enough to carry the entire game on his back.
Rusty Rabbit represents an interesting experiment, not so much for its specific features as for the background of its creative team. Putting aside visual novels, Nitroplus and Gen Urobuchi bring to life a classic-style metroidvania with an intriguing narrative bent and some interesting game design ideas. The overall experience proves to be quite intriguing and unexpectedly relaxing, although it has several naivetƩ issues that prevent Stamp's adventure from being truly memorable or at least capable of being able to stand out among the vast and ruthless competition.

The game delivers an experience with lighter themes and less intense events than other works by the studio, but maintains the quality and depth characteristic of the developer's writing.

Rusty Rabbit struggles with several issues that hold it back from standing out, but it still offers some enjoyable momentsāand with its low price, it might be worth a try for curious players.

Rusty Rabbit keeps players hooked with its rewarding exploration, layered progression, and robust customization. Whether hunting materials, upgrading weapons, or tackling dungeons, thereās always something to do, and its mech-powered action remains engaging throughout. Itās a game that proves that sometimes, a little rust just adds character.
Thereās ambition here, but Rusty Rabbit never quite figures out what it wants to be. It's torn between a lighthearted, junkyard adventure with a curmudgeon protagonist and a mechanically dense exploration-platformer.
Rusty Rabbit is a fun 2.5D side-scrolling game that offers players an entertaining exploration experience as they drill through various ruins. However, some of the gameās mechanics can be a bit frustrating while exploring. Making a few tweaks to patch these issues can enhance the overall playthrough even more.
Weird, wonderful, and occasionally wearying, Rusty Rabbit is a game with a big heart, a rusty shell, and a few too many junk blocks in the way of greatness.
Performance issues on the Switch, poor controls, a slow story, and awkward physics are just some of the issues that prevent Rusty Rabbit from standing out in its genre. It's an atypical work from NITRO PLUS, who are used to dealing with visual novels, I understand, but I hope they absorb the criticism so they can do something above average the next time they produce an action platformer.

Rusty Rabbit is a decent Metroidvania with some interesting ideas, but clunky movement and frustrating combat make it a tough sell.
If you're looking for an accessible metroidvania with intriguing storytelling and world-building, Rusty Rabbit is worth a try. The futuristic, snowy adventure of Stamp offers a well-blended mix of elements, even if it doesn't revolutionize the genre. While not impressive in level design or groundbreaking ideas, and with some minor progression flaws, it stands firmly over its roughly 16-hour playthrough. Ultimately, it's an honest and enjoyable game available at a very affordable price for what it delivers.
