Hello Kitty Island Adventure is exactly what you think it is. A Sanrio character filled Animal Crossing. However, this isn’t a negative. There is comfort in knowing exactly what you’re going to be doing when you sit down to play this. Do some quests for people, fix up an island and make more friends. This game could fill the void the lack of a new Animal Crossing game has created. Especially if you’re a Hello Kitty fan. My only reservation about the game is its price point. Whilst I appreciate games have increased prices over the years I ultimately had to ask myself if I would have paid £36 for this one. And I’m not sure if I would have. I certainly wouldn’t pay the £54 for a non-physical deluxe edition. It’s cute, and fun, and I loved interacting with my favourite Sanrio characters, but the price still feels a bit high for a cosy game with such simple gameplay. Then again based on the “£1 per hour of gameplay” model, and with 80+ hours worth of gameplay you could well get your monies worth from it. Wait, did I just talk myself around? Ok so maybe the price isn’t that bad, but still, I do wonder if it would become a bit too much of the same thing over time. In any case, Hello Kitty Island Adventure receives the Thumb Culture Gold Award.
Hello Kitty Island Adventure isn't just a quick cash-in on the popular IP. The game feels like it was made by a team that knew how beloved the IP was and has been careful to retain its charm while also offering a complete and competent game that's perfect for kids and that adults will likely enjoy, too. It also runs great on the Steam Deck, with fully working controls and easy-going system requirements that mean you get plenty of battery life to explore your tropical island. It's a great way to relax at the end of the day.
In the end, Hello Kitty Island Adventure is an excellent game to de-stress. Even with a few technical issues here and there, overall, it offers an excellent experience for people who like casual, relaxing games, and it's no doubt a title worth experiencing by the fans of Hello Kitty and friends.

Hello Kitty Island Adventure is your new favorite cozy exploration game. While it looks similar to others in the genre, once you start playing, the truth is that there is nothing like Hello Kitty Island Adventure when it comes to exploration.
Hello Kitty Island Adventure is a wonderful combination of building friendships, questing, exploring, and collecting, all set in a bright and colourful world. I wasn’t sure if the Hello Kitty cuteness and the daily nature of progress would work for me, but I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the game. Even though we are at the start of 2025, Hello Kitty Island Adventure is a strong contender for one of my games of the year.
Exploring an island full of surprises, while helping our friends, and building a community alongside these iconic characters was truly an incredible experience. The visuals are very cute and harmonize well with the proposal and tone, and the same goes for the songs, the characters then, are pure fun and comfort, from Pochaco, to Ponponpurin and passing by Cinamoroll, all of my favorites brought and continue to bring me smiles and laughs and continuing on this island has become a part of my routine. From the isometric exploration with puzzles, to the management, friendship system, everything went well for me and the expansive scope of the game takes everything to a level that I don't think most would expect from a licensed game, and although it is not the most daring of games in this genre, it does it quite competently and brings a solid asset with these important characters in the cast.

Hello Kitty Island Adventure is a delightful life sim that suffers from performance issues on the Nintendo Switch. The breadth of content to take part in is impressive, and the characters and dialogue are filled with charm. It’s a shame the technical performance is so all over the place because the game itself is a blast all around.
Hello Kitty Island Adventure has finally landed on consoles, and it's the perfect tropical vacation for anyone searching for that next cozy adventure. While I did run into some technical issues on Nintendo Switch, they were minor enough that most players will not be phased by them. If you are looking for a new cozy game to play daily in 2025, Hello Kitty Island Adventure should be at the top of your list.
