Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater Reviews
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater marks an impressive return for the series. Playing it once again highlights why Hideo Kojima was able to craft one of gaming’s true masterpieces and push the medium forward in so many ways. Rather than a full reimagining, Metal Gear Solid Delta is best described as a graphical overhaul of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater 3D. That said, the game isn’t without flaws. Performance issues, unnecessary simplifications, and the lack of meaningful additions to justify the “remake” label hold it back from true greatness. Even so, Metal Gear Solid Delta remains a high-quality stealth-action title that I’d have no hesitation recommending.

On the other hand, this really isn’t a new game, and while it wouldn’t be fair to say the remake’s efforts were “lazy,” it’s also hard to shake the feeling that where the Silent Hill 2 remake was exciting by virtue of how new it was, this is just that game, that we’ve already played and loved to death, in a prettier dress. But hey, if you’ve somehow not played Metal Gear Solid 3 before, this is going to blow your mind.
"Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater" proves to be a near-perfect remake, mastering the delicate balance between nostalgia and modernization with admirable precision. Konami has proven that the essence of Kojima's vision can be preserved and presented in a contemporary way even without the master himself.

With Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, Konami has achieved what it set out to do: breathe new life into a classic while keeping it as authentic as possible. With that in mind, its only real faults are some mechanics which now feel a little awkward and dated. The visuals here are phenomenal, bringing more nuance to the game's cutscenes, and the new modern play style is great for newcomers and those annoyed by the restrictive camera of the original game.
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is a fantastic game because the title it's based on is splendid. Konami offers excellent graphics in this new version. The only problem is that there was room to modernize elements of the original game while still maintaining respect for the work, but the developer decided to play safe. This means that if you're expecting something different from what you've known for over 20 years, you'll be disappointed. On the other hand, for those looking to relive Snake's adventure or experience the saga for the first time, Metal Gear Solid Delta is an excellent option.

A cynic might look at it and see a barely enhanced 20+ year old game, but a closer inspection reveals a version that meticulously enhances the game's rough edges without affecting its design or balance at all. The perfect remaster for a title that even now is ahead of the game.

A practically flawless remake of an already incredible title, METAL GEAR SOLID Δ should be on your radar.
Overall, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is a well done remaster of a game that remains as classic as it ever was. The changes are a mix of positive and negative, but there aren't any that drag down the experience. At worst, they're a matter of preference. For many people, this title is likely to be the optimal way to experience Metal Gear Solid 3, and it's easy to be impressed by the sheer amount of work that went into capturing the classic original.
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is a good remake, but it's a step below contemporary games that have taken that route to connect with the past. Although it's rough around the edges, it manages to respect Kojima Productions' original work, so beyond the audiovisual improvements and gameplay improvements, you'll have in your hands the same great game from 2004. Nothing more, nothing less.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater changes what needs to be changed while leaving the core intact. A remake that is both a gift to fans and a golden opportunity for anyone venturing into Operation Snake Eater for the first time. A game that will not be forgotten, with a new look that will help to create new and great memories.

A careful but not overly courageous remake of a masterpiece that everyone should play: a little old in its structure, but brilliant and contemporary in other aspects.

METAL GEAR SOLID DELTA: SNAKE EATER takes an already awesome game and enhances it in profound ways that'll impress everyone from newcomers to long-time fans. It does such a phenomenal job that I wish every remake could remain this true yet be this innovative. 🐍
Overall, if you’re already a fan of the series, this remake will feel like a nostalgic celebration worth experiencing. But even if you’re new to the Metal Gear Solid universe, this entry is arguably the best place to begin, both in terms of story and timeline, as well as gameplay depth and attention to detail.
The question this game really poses is, can Konami still successfully make a Metal Gear Solid game in 2025. The answer being unequivocally yes. There is absolutely talent at work here, and although the brief was clearly, protect the legacy and don’t upset the fans. The bigger question I have, with now the Master Collection and MGS Delta out there, where could Konami go next with the series, and do they have the drive or ambition to break the mould, be creative and create something truly new.
A reverent remake that balances nostalgia with modern polish — Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is the definitive way to experience one of the series' highest points in modern times.
Metal Gear Solid has aged. Its themes remain relevant, especially now, but its bosses are too easy, and its presentation is caricatured and jarring. So too are all the figurines to hunt and the jokes, visual or otherwise, that pull you out of the world and shoot the immersion, like The End with its sniper rifle. What remains is nostalgia and solid production values.

MGS Delta is a successful remake with a timeless story. The New/Legacy style choice appeals to veterans and newcomers alike. Only weakened by poor enemy AI.

Snake Eater isn’t just the return of a legendary title - it’s the return of the very soul of an industry that has forgotten what true passion feels like. In a time when most games look and feel the same, Delta reminds us that the emotions, ideals, and madness of one man are still stronger than anything AI algorithms could ever create.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is a remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater that stays incredibly close to the original. It brings a significant graphical upgrade without losing sight of the original’s details. The gameplay feels much smoother, features a new mode, and adds a few unlockable camouflages. It’s a polished remake that does exactly what a tribute to the original should do.
