The developers at Enhance and Monstars Inc. have once again delivered a truly successful production that is a lot of fun to play. I won't hide the fact that Lumines Arise didn't draw me in as much as the legendary Tetris, but it's still a solid title that can entertain and give a lot of satisfaction. Most importantly, it's a real feast for the eyes and ears, making every minute spent with this game magical. It looks beautiful, works very well, and fans of character customization will certainly have no complaints.

Lumines Arise shows that puzzle games can still be new by using artistic purpose and subtle changes to the way they work. It shows that rhythm is still a strong base for both emotional and strategic play. It stays with you long after the screen goes away.

Lumines Arise modernizes the classic rhythm-puzzle formula with striking visuals, a reactive soundtrack, and polished gameplay that captures the spirit of its PSP roots. The game's core mechanics remain simple yet addictive, while its audiovisual design deepens the emotional impact of each stage. A few design decisions limit passive enjoyment, and the difficulty curve can occasionally spike, but Lumines Arise still offers one of the most engaging puzzle experiences in recent memory.

Lumines Arise offers one of the most joyous experiences I’ve had yet in a video game, one I will keep coming back to for years to come. It’s a meticulously crafted effort of love, love which shines through every part of the experience. It takes a winning formula and touches on it enough to bring it more life than Lumines has maybe ever had. It’s not just one of the best puzzle games I’ve ever played; it’s one of the best and most triumphant releases of 2025 all around. Seldom does a game just melt away the time and the bad vibes quite like this one. Please, play this game.

Hypnotic and far beyond experimental, Lumines Arise is a true visual spectacle that will, surprisingly, move you emotionally.

Lumines Arise has a way of sneaking up on you. You sit down expecting to fit in a quick puzzle session, and suddenly you’ve drifted through half a dozen stages, fully immersed in a blend of music and visuals that feels almost theatrical. It made me appreciate Lumines in a way the older entries never quite managed, and it reminded me that puzzle games don’t have to just be clever, they can be sensory experiences too. Whether you’re a long-time fan or someone who bounced off the series before, this one’s worth trying. Put on headphones, settle in, and let the music take over. Want to experience it first, a free demo is on Steam. Just try playing and stop your body moving to the beat.

Lumines Arise is sensational in every sense. It will wow you with its audio-visual cues and dance across your screen in a way that'll make you feel emotions. It feels almost otherworldly, and yet, it's one of the most calming and memorable experiences I've had with video games this year.

I’d say with confidence that Mizuguchi and the Enhance team have once again knocked it out of the park here. If you’re looking for a way to drop some blocks whilst wringing emotion from your heart, you can’t go wrong with this one.

Not only feels as good as Tetris Effect, but the design and graphical direction feels as if it were made exclusively for the game originally. Arise is a musical and sensory journey as a whole, but it also has the magic of classic arcade games.

I’m excellent at appreciating Lumines, though, and that’s especially true with Lumines Arise—which is another beautiful, transfixing, exhilarating puzzler guaranteed to stimulate both your senses and your brain. Even the really, really dumb brains.

“Experience” is an apt descriptor because it’s impossible to separate Arise’s presentation from how intricately it’s linked to the moment-to-moment block dropping. Of course, said mechanics are wonderfully accessible, yet incredibly deep.

Lumines Arise is a triumphant return to one of the most unique puzzle series in gaming. While it doesn't reinvent the formula, it refines what was already brilliant by adding the Burst system and expanding content with various modes and flawless audiovisual direction. The game offers a rare balance between mental challenge and sensory calm in a synergistic experience. There are small flaws, like visually confusing levels and irregular matchmaking, but they barely detract from the overall strength. Ultimately, Lumines Arise is more than just a puzzle game—it's an immersive, rhythmic, and sensory experience, proving that when sound, image, and interaction come together with purpose, the result can be truly hypnotic.

Combining great gameplay that is easy to learn but challenging to master, with visuals that look great and music that always nails the tone, Lumines Arise suffers from only a few minor hiccups.
