Last Light stands out as the star of the package providing a well paced journey of redemption through the dreary and isolated world. In spite of it's vast improvements, 2033 just doesn't hold up as well and can feel like a slog due to tedious encounters and repetitive enemies. I would recommend playing them both but if you have to choose, go with Last Light. The story does a good job of recapping 2033 and it is a much better game.
The Metro games deserve a second shot at stardom, and with the sequel polished and the original considerably enhanced, they're primed to make the most of it. The first game can seem dated or awkward, but its mood, atmosphere and survival horror game mechanics make for a very distinctive FPS. The second loses some of the creeping tension, but makes up for it with exceptional stealth-tinged combat. Take them together and you get a bargain bundle of post-apocalyptic dread.
If you didn't think much of the games initially, there may not be enough in Redux that will change your mind.

Overall my time with Metro Redux was enjoyable. Metro 2033 does feel like it was the first attempt at creating something special, and it almost got there. Metro Last Light is easily the full realization of the story and is an overall more enjoyable experience. But, since both titles are included in this bundle, players will be able to get the full picture from beginning to end with enough content and replay value to be worth the asking price and then some.

Essential stuff, especially on console, for fans and newcomers alike.
Even if you played the original releases, Metro Redux is still an attractive proposition. The improvements to 2033 are substantial, while the more minor tweaks to Last Light simply refine a fantastic experience. In one package, these games together offer a huge amount of gameplay and one of the most arresting game-worlds you'll ever see in a shooter. If, on the other hand, you've never delved into Glukhovsky's subterranean nightmare, Redux is more than worth the asking price.
Metro Redux is the definitive way to play both Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light. New players should pick it up without any worry, but previous owners might have less incentive. The enhanced graphics and gameplay should be enough to please most fans though.
