Stikbold! A Dodgeball Adventure Deluxe fully deserves a place among Nintendo Switch's already amazing line up of local multiplayer titles. It's accessible yet deceptively deep twin stick-based mechanics make for a decent amount of challenge in the solo campaign, even if it's a little on the short side. Even with no online, using bots or getting up to five other friends involved, multiplayer matches are a joy and always thoroughly entertaining. Striking a great balance between cooperative and competitive play styles, It's combination of charming presentation and witty retro humour are sure to keep the laughs coming regardless of player demographic.

Stikbold finally gives the sport of dodgeball a credible representation in a video game. It nails the simplicity and mastery of the sport while remaining fun and humorous, but it lacks online capabilities and is just a bit too short.

At its heart, Stikbold’s a fairly simple game of hitting people with balls, but it has a bunch of fun and silly ideas alongside that which turn it into a manic little party game to while away a few hours.

Stikbold! A Dodgeball Adventure is a nostalgic throwback to the heyday of local multiplayer, when groups of buddies gathering around a couch was the predominant method by which people played games with others. Its wacky sense of humor and chaotic gameplay are best enjoyed through the cacophony of laughter that only good friends can bring, and the ease by which you can pick it up and just start playing will be sure to draw in reluctant living room holdouts. The appeal might not last forever due to a lack of content and depth, especially in the game’s story mode, which doesn’t fully explore all the great wacky ideas it seems to have. Even so, this is a standout indie that will bring a lot of people back to the couch — both the literal one and the figurative one of their past.

Stikbold! A Dodgeball Adventure takes a sport that few get the opportunity to play anymore and infuses it with a more action oriented approach that surprisingly works quite well.

Stikbold! may not be as serious as the typical sports title to which we have become accustomed, but the game is easy to pick up and provides equal amounts of challenge, fun and off-the-wall ridiculousness. The lack of online multiplayer seems like a major oversight from the developer and the short story mode and limited numbers of stages might put players off who are looking for something to play by themselves for an extended period of time. However, if you get a few friends together, Stikbold! becomes the ideal party game that is just a good bit of fun.

Stikbold is not going to set the world on fire, but it is one of the best competitive/co-op experiences I have had in a while. There is a lot to see and do, even with a criminally short list of modes and features. The story mode is entertaining and the multiplayer had me coming back for more and more. I recommend checking it out if you enjoy local multiplayer games with an interesting twist.

Fresh and frantic, Stikbold! A Dodgeball Adventure is a pleasant surprise, with moreish multiplayer and a beguiling, unique style that sets it apart in a crowded genre. Slight performance hiccups crop up when matches get too busy, but they're rare, and you'll be having too much fun to really notice. A couple of extra modes or online multiplayer would've made this easier to recommend, but it's fun, snappy, and full of character nonetheless, and if you're looking for a little light-heartedness in your multiplayer gaming sessions, don't dodge this.

The concept of Stikbold! seems simple enough. Play dodgeball, hit people, don’t get hit, and ultimately come out on top.

A frequently funny and riotous take on Dodgeball, the lack of online multiplayer and occasionally soft-headed AI isn’t enough to meaningfully detract from the lustre of Stikbold’s blissfully enjoyable local multiplayer shenanigans. This is the dodgeball video game you never knew you wanted.

If you have friends over often, dig local couch play in gaming and have the right sense of humor for an absurd dodgeball game, Stikbold! is great.

Stikbold may not be your typical sports game, but it’s got a solid backbone of fun and wackiness. The short story mode and cartoonish aesthetic aren’t likely to appeal to players of all types, but it remains a great fit for those who enjoy the lighter side of games. Those interested can pick up Stikbold now on Steam (on sale through April 8th), or on the Playstation Store on April 5th.

If you're looking for something unique, then Stikbold! A Dodgeball Adventure may be right up your alley. A combination of twin-stick shooting, mature cartoons and a creative take on dodgeball, it's a fun and challenging little game.

Stikbold! A Dodgeball Adventure has its good side. The campaign, while short, starts out fun and isn't lacking creative scenarios, while the multiplayer is good for a short romp. Sadly, the game is let down by the later campaign levels, the iffy AI, and the overall lack of content.

Stikbold! A Dodgeball Adventure is an enjoyable and competitive local multiplayer game to play with your friends. I didn't expect to enjoy playing through a story mode about dodgeball as much as I did. It can also be played cooperatively with a friend as well. I’m still working on completing all the objectives from the story mode to unlock the final character, but there are plenty of unlikely goofy characters to choose from for local multiplayer.

Stikbold: A Dodgeball Adventure is a great game for local on couch co-op or multiplayer action, but doesn't offer much thrill as a single player game.

Stikbold! A Dodgeball Adventure is a breath of fresh air among today’s online-only titles. Besides being an awesome throwback to the golden age of couch gaming, its wacky characters and bizarre humor mix well with the pick-up-and-play controls and great level design. The novelty might wear off too soon, but you should definitely give it a go if you’re yearning to share some laughs with your friends

Indie games have come a long way, but it's still obvious they are viewed as the lesser option when it comes to gaming for a lot of gamers. It would be a mistake to overlook Stikbold! because it's an indie game. It has its share of hiccups and can falter from time to time, but gamers don't play games for the amazing loading screens. They play them for the game, and once the game is loaded, it is a charming, easy-to-control experience that ensures hours of enjoyability, with or without a partner. Don't overlook this tiny gem because it has these faults; instead, push past them to a solid game that is genuine and truly fun.

It's probably says a lot for a game when the only real complaint is that there isn't more of it. Stikbold! hits all the right targets, but it feels as if it is just missing a little more. Online multiplayer would have been amazing, and a bit more depth in both the single player campaign and multiplayer options would have made this title complete. It's still good fun while it lasts, and even more so if a couple friends can be found for some dodgeball shenanigans. While it might not be the best party game, it is still a very good one - besides, how many other games are there where you can throw dodgeballs at enormous whales and honey loving hippies?
