World to the West is the better game made by the people at Rain Games so far. It has a distinctive style, a sprawling map helped by a great level design and a successful mix of exploration, puzzles and combat.

Rain Games definitely knows how to make a quality title. If you have any fondness for Zelda, you should really check this out. Even if you don't happen to enjoy Nintendo's classic series, World to the West is fun enough to warrant a playthrough from even the sternest of players.

Despite its ingenious puzzles, some good ideas and fun boss battles, World to the West fails in many aspects, such as story, exploration, and atmosphere. As if it wasn't enough, there are also some bugs, translation errors and unclear suggestions, which certainly do not help. However, it's still a title that fans of puzzle games and Teslagrad will probably enjoy.

World to the West, despite improving the artistic style of Teslagrad, does not incorporate any gameplay mechanic that surpasses the impact of the original.

I can say though that for an indie game, this still provides a unique and enjoyable experience. Though the graphics is not on par to the likes of Horizon Zero Dawn, it is great in its own unique and quirky way. If you're looking for an adventure that is not Zelda, then this game is for you.

World to the West is the perfect example of how you can have all the good intensions in the world, but sometimes the execution is just bad. There are some nice ideas here and there, but too many bad design choices almost destroy everything good the game has to offer.

World to the West lets you explore a cell-shaded world that feels alive. It is filled with great observational puzzles and features a great atmosphere with a nice ambient soundtrack. The combat could have been better implemented, but if you like a relaxed and laid back experience, this game may just peak your interest.

Minor niggles aside, I very much enjoyed exploring the World to the West and would certainly recommend it to others looking for an old-school Zelda-esque adventure to follow or distract from not having the sublime open world Breath of the Wild. It successfully captures the feel of a 16bit style adventure and combines this with charming characters and some great environmental ability-based puzzling. Plus, Lord Clonington has the potential to become a gaming icon for these hipster times. As I found myself unintentionally humming to myself, 'Together, we will go our way / Together, we will leave someday.'

World to the West is a solid Link to the Past inspired experience that fans of that style of game will enjoy, and it was extremely interesting to see the world of Teslagrad fleshed out more through these four new characters. It is just unfortunate that the totem mechanic, which sounds cool on paper, ends up feeling like unnecessary padding that can make the game more frustrating than fun.

World to the West is a pretty good adventure held back by some fairly annoying flaws.

This interesting project has great ideas and borrows some good elements from The Legend of Zelda sage. However, its character controls feature a weird desing, which translates into a bad decision that affects the game's pace.

World to the West offers undemanding puzzles with frustrating gameplay. I don't know, if it's a game for kids or adult players, but it fails in what it tries to do in both cases.

World to the West is a lot of fun with plenty to do and a good variety of environments and characters to keep the game feeling fresh. The game's music is nice with folk and orchestral scores, which greatly complement the experience. The nods from World to the West to old-school The Legend of Zelda entries is appreciated and it makes for a very entertaining release. Kudos to the team for giving us a great game to enjoy on PS4. I definitely look forward to seeing what their next project will be. Oh, and if you're a collecter you might want to grab one of the physical copies that are up for sale from SOEDESCO ahead of its June release!

Even with its flaws, World to the West is a fun adventure game that has plenty of clever moments. The characters are enjoyable all the way through, the environments are a joy to look at, and the puzzles are a blast to solve. Each of the main characters' unique abilities are used to their fullest potential as well, meaning that there is enjoyment to be had with each one. It’s just a shame that the combat is only fun with one of them. Fans of classic Zelda titles will not be disappointed, however, as this world is certainly worth exploring.

The World to the West is a fun brain-teasing challenge which is worth a look for those who like to mix up their puzzling with some combat and exploration. It's no Zelda-beater, but for those seeking a PS4 alternative, you need only go West.

In short, I thoroughly enjoyed World to the West. It was a lovable eight hour distraction full of amiable heroes, interesting puzzles and an atmosphere that instills so much excitement and intrigue. If this game is a sign of what Rain Games is capable of in the future, I will be more than happy to see more of this endearing world that they have created.

I did like World to the West, however it didn't get executed well enough in the later portion of the game.
