Agents of Mayhem fails as caretaker of the Saints Row dildo-torch, with passable gameplay and characters the only vague upsides in its a repetitive, bug-ridden sandbox.

Agents of Mayhem is a generic take on the city open world shooter. A diverse cast of heroes and a few funny one liners save it from being downright bad, but its repetitive missions and bland world firmly solidify its mediocrity.

It may share a genre and universe with Saints Row, but Agents of Mayhem is a lifeless husk of Volition's prior work.

Obnoxious attitude, poor mission design, and technical bugs make Agents of Mayhem chaotic and repetitive.

With just a little bit more variety and a lot less repetition, Agents of Mayhem could have been an entertaining game. It’s not a bad game, nor is it a particularly good one. There were pockets of fun in the game, for sure, but this is a mostly forgettable experience.

Agents of Mayhem is an uninteresting experience that has been offered in far better ways throughout the history of open-world shooters. That's not to say that it's bad - in fact, for a mediocre game, it can certainly be a fun distraction for a couple of hours. Unfortunately, its potential was thrown from a window, and what we got here is a repetitive shoot-fest that's enjoyable only when there isn't something better to play.

Agents of Mayhem does exactly what it says on the tin. It's chaotic. The cast of characters are memorable and fun as hell to play. The humor is well delivered and not forced. It's just a shame more imagination wasn't put into the objective-based gameplay at its core.

Agents of Mayhem screams mediocrity at every turn, and while it introduces some fun mechanics, it ultimately boils down to a boring FPS mishmash. It fails to stand out in any remarkable way, the attempts at humor doing it no favors.

You would expect the team behind Saints Row to make something with more verve and fewer grey hallways, but here we are with Agents of Mayhem.

Agents of Mayhem should be a good game, however it seems like Deep Silver wanted to do another Saints Row game and did things that way instead. Unlike when Capcom did this with Resident Evil and created the great Devil May Cry series, Deep Silver just made a Saints Row game with a different label on it. You'd think that after so many games in that series that we would get something different, but we didn't.

Agents will lose most with its humour, juvenile, distracting and frustrating.

As much as it pains us to say this, Agents of Mayhem is a disappointing spin-off to one of the funniest video game franchises. An uninspired setting and uninspired gameplay make for a missable game. And that's too bad, as the Agents clearly had some potential as characters.

Agents of Mayhem has enough gameplay diversity and fun characters to keep you occupied for a few hours, but it won't take long for the repetitive missions, horrendously heavy-handed comedic overtones, and tired gameplay loop to wear on your patience.

In the end, it's one of those 'good game buried in here somewhere' experiences.

Agents of Mayhem offers one-note action anchored to a city lacking in soul. In the end, it's hard not to pine for the way things were, when Saints Row was a bright new player on the scene.

It's bewildering how so much of Volition's Agents of Mayhem feels like a show of conformity.

Agents of Mayhem would have been a great rental in days gone by, but today it's an experience that's great for a a short while, but doesn't offer enough to keep players invested for the duration of the campaign.

Despite fun combat and characters, Agents of Mayhem becomes repetitive and grinding. In trying to chase the popularity of Saints Row, it misses having an identity of its own.

Agents of Mayhem is a step back for Volition after the success of the Saints Row series. While the characters are good and fun, they don't feel larger than life when compared to The Boss and their crew. There aren't as many memorable moments either, and the city of Seoul is wasted. The game is less Agents of Mayhem and more Agents of Mehhem.

An obnoxious and repetitive open world game that does its best to hide the fact that it's a surprisingly decent third person shooter.
