The game works and doesn't seem to have any huge issues, but that's about the best I can say.

Flip Wars' problem is that it has no depth whatsoever. That silly, simple, chaotic, and utterly pointless button masher that you had a quick laugh at when you play it for the first time really is all that's on offer.

Flip Wars is not worth buying at all right now and it needs a lot of work to come close to being decent let alone good.

Flip Wars is in some ways less fleshed out than the demo for Fusion Frenzy. Almost every feature, from the blocked out local mode to the disappointing "My Room" option (that's less of a room and more like a statistic menu), is a half measure. Maybe Over Fence can add to what they've built with a sequel, a series of free updates, or even a re-launch (which has been done in the very same party space). Until that happens, don't worry about missing out.

Although I hoped Flip Wars would turn out to be a fun online and party game when I first saw its footage, the title turned out to be a disappointment void of any real merit. The gameplay is clunky, content is slim, and power-ups do little to remedy the experience. The lack of a single-player mode and virtually nonexistent online make recommending this title even more. Ultimately, Flip Wars' release made my disappointed Nintendo published an unfinished game like it in the first place.

There are some titles that have high replay value despite their simplicity, but Flip Wars is not one of them, as this is nothing but a simple mini-game turned full game. In other words, while this is definitely cheaper, better save that pizza money for Splatoon 2… or pizza.

A solid base mechanic with potential and affordable price make Flip Wars an intriguing proposition for party game lovers. Its lack of content, however, reduce the mileage you might otherwise get from the game, especially in solo play. If you like to see a different take on Bomberman-style games and can round up folks to play with you, however, this budget title can still be worth flipping into.

Flip Wars has (almost) all the right ingredients to be a fun and recommendable party game: thanks to its solid gameplay and clear positive influences, this is a game that can bring some intense local multiplayer moments. Sadly its online multiplayer component falls way short of expectations and what could be one of the game's best elements turns out to be its biggest weakness.

Flip Wars is a very simple, shallow party game. It's not actively terrible, but it barely offers anything to do.

Flip Wars isn't a bad game, it's a painfully mediocre one with an appalling lack of overall content. The Switch might be the perfect place for a small, simple multiplayer game, but Flip Wars doesn't offer anything new or different enough to justify itself.

At launch, Flip Wars was introduced with a short quantity of gameplay modes, and we had the feeling that it wasn't worth its price. After the update, the developers added a few modes, maps, and characters, which contributed to make the game more enjoyable but despite that, the price seems too high compared to the amount of contents.

Flip Wars entertains as soon as the panic-induced butt-stomping draws out your unawakened competitive spirit but soon falls flat as you realise there isn’t much breadth to the experience. Suited to quick burst multiplayer sessions every now and then, it’s harder to recommend to those looking for something that will keep them hooked for longer.

Over Fence has an average game on their hands with Flip Wars. There is so much potential here for bigger and better things, but for the time being, it's fun and worthy of parties.

Flip Wars has a great premise for multiplayer fun, especially for local battles. Joining your mates huddled around a Switch the concept works nicely, but in an age where online gaming is bigger than ever you'd think a game like this would nail online play at release. Instead there are missing game modes and spotty online connections will put some people off this very enjoyable title. Due to its early access-like feel it might be worth saving your pennies for a few weeks before splashing out on Flip Wars, to see if the promised future updates will actually deliver the modes that aren't available right now and iron out the kinks in servers. The game has some real potential as a fun multiplayer game, offline and online, but right now Flip Wars isn't quite as good as it could be.

My suggestion if you're interested is to wait until after it has gotten some updates. It's not like this is currently void of fun, but it surely needs a spicing up. As of right now, I can only recommend Flip Wars to those who play a lot in tabletop and TV modes with other people, this is where the game shined brightest for me.

Flip Wars is a multiplayer game that win by playing it this way. Its great deficiency is in the lack of modes of games and alternatives for a single player. Even so, it can be a great option to keep in mind for family gatherings and with friends.

It's perhaps stepping on Super Bomberman R's toes at a fraction of the price, but Flip Wars scratches that multiplayer itch and is an absolute blast to play locally. There are currently some kinks to iron out, particularly with online matchmaking to fully use all the player slots, but with updates a possibility it's certainly one to keep an eye on to see how things develop.

The game is fun but lacks any real depth.
