This is the dragon's curse remake that we SHOULD have gotten, in lieu of the flash-graphic-esque monstrosity that we were served. I highly recommend this game to everyone that likes the style.

Aggelos was a big surprise. Having played a bunch of Metroidvanias in the past year, most of them ended up being well-made but lacked some sort of hook to keep me playing, and the few that did ended up being something that went above and beyond. Yet in this case, the game benefits from going back to the roots and being a throwback done right, going for both authenticity and accessibility that made the six hour adventure well worth every single minute, even during the frustrating bits.

Aggelos is a memorable adventure game, which brings to the present the best of the past.

Aggelos sticks pretty rigidly to the classics script, and while that means getting bogged down by questionable design choices, it also makes for a great modern classic that relies on good level design instead of randomly generated levels

Aggelos it's a time travel, an adventure in the vein of those that we enjoyed in the 16-bit era, An oversaturated genre even in Switch (pixel art, platforming and 2D metroidvania action) with a style of gameplay adapted to nowaday tastes. It's not an innovative title, but it's fun, pretty and its right pace helps to get hooked till the end.

Overall, this is a great little retro adventure that doesn't outstay its welcome. It plays like a top tier title from back in the day, presents you with the sort of gameplay you want and expect from this type of game and serves it all up at a pace with such consistent quality that it's hard not to be won over, no matter how fatigued you may be by the idea of another blast of old school pixel action.

Aggelos is executed with the bright-eyed innocence of someone who loves Wonder Boy and Metroidvania. While it does little to innovate, it succeeds in providing a well-crafted, intricate world that leaves you with a lasting sense of discovery.

Aggelos works great as both a homage to the source material and as a game on its own merit. The faithful reproduction of the Wonder Boy style still holds up today, and while the new powers don't significantly change things for the better, they don't detract from the game, either. The gameplay is solid, and the gameplay length comes in at a good running time, so you'll get your money's worth from the experience even before you set out to play it again on Hard mode. With a great presentation backing up the entire experience, Aggelos is a great title for classic adventure platformer fans.

Aggelos takes you to the past. Hard Bosses, lovely Dungeons and Vast environment to explore will be awesome for you if you like metroidvania style games. I wish there was more changes to gameplay when you level up, but that's not the thing to keep you from playing Agellos, because it is one of the best in its genre.

It’s a great Metroidvania, action RPG with beautiful retro graphics and audio and fun combat and abilities. A couple old school mechanics may turn some away but otherwise this is a quality title.

Aggelos is an almost perfect homage to the good of days of the 16 bits, and future classic, given us the same soul and focus of some of the best SEGA and Nintendo classics. It might not be perfect, but it is a really fun time.

It may not be as frustrating as the classic games it is trying to imitate but it is no less challenging. The graphics and musical choices are some of the most calculated choices in retro-style games that make Aggelos feel like a re-release of a 30 year old game which I think was the point here.

Rocking great 16-bit-ish looks, some great chiptune tracks, and plenty of retro gaming feels Aggelos is definitely a title classic gaming fans should adore...

Aggelos is a pleasant game that should interest every fan of classic adventure games. Its gameplay and style are a mix of Wonder Boy and Shovel Knight/Hollow Knight. Music, graphics and controls are simple, but surprisingly good.

Aggelos is a clear homage to the 16 bit classics that will be addictive for veterans and newbies to the metroidvania genre. Despite a very cliche plot and a gameplay a little simplistic, Aggelos is a game that succeed on it's main goals.

Although there are far better choices in the ever-growing Switch library, Aggelos is a love letter to action platformers of the eighties and early nineties that will make people in their thirties smile.

. If you can put up with its more archaic elements, the retro style, creative level design, and wealth of upgrades to uncover might make it worth your time—but I wouldn't go as far as calling Aggelos "the perfect combination of retro style and modern-day game design

When a game is inspired by the classics, you'd hope that it improves upon them. Although Aggelos doesn't, it's still a rather fun game.

All in all? This game is nothing too impressive. You’re better off playing actual classic titles because at least those have way more to offer than this game. Not saying that this game is totally bad, but it could have been so much more.
