Another worthy entry into the series that still distinguishes itself from the rest. Diverse characters, unique mechanics, and pick-up-and-play nature make it extremely accessible. Despite a few fumbles in training modes and mediocre story elements, Soulcalibur VI is a great fighter at its core.

Soulcalibur VI fills the gap between casual fighting games and serious e-sports disciplines. It has great mechanics, which are easy to learn for newcomers, and perfect character editor. But most important of all is that Soulcalibur VI is really interesting to play.

Open to newcomers, but with a really deep combat system for hardcore players. This one can attract everyone.

And finally Bandai Namco has came back with one of its most liked series and most-anticipated games. SoulCalibur VI is here... It is a mixture of all that we like about a good fighting game. The fights are simple, accessible, fast and deep, and the visuals are good enough to make you satisfied. The only boring part is the slow paced and uninteresting storytelling with a lot of texts and long conversations that a fighting game doesn't need too much. If not The Best, SoulCalibur VI is definitely one of the best fighting games of 2018.

Overall, SoulCalibur 6 is a solid reboot of the franchise. It doesn't reinvent the wheel but focuses on sanding off the rough edges and returning the gameplay and storyline to the basics. The result is a game that's a distillation of what makes the SoulCalibur franchise fun. There's enough room and depth for people to get into the real -gritty of the gameplay, but there's also a lot of room for enjoyable fighting. It's a bit difficult to justify the purchase just for the single-player portion, but it's excellent for a couch party game — just like SoulCalibur should be.

SoulCalibur 6 is an outstanding fighting game that shows that content is king. It features a versatile character roster backed by a great combat system, although some of the new changes do feel like they are more suited for newcomers than long-time veterans. It suffers from some technical hurdles like the load times, but overall it is an extremely polished product.

Soul Calibur VI is the best looking and best playing game of the series, but the number of available options and characters is lacking. Fighting game fans will still have a blast in this stage of history, but don't be surprised if it leaves you wanting more.

SoulCalibur VI is an excellent fighting game and it reignites the flame of this wonderful series. The gameplay is fantastic and the online mode is also very good. The single-player mode has plenty of content and the character-creation mode continues to please. Geralt was a great choice of a guest character, too. The negative point goes to the story mode told in the form of text or dialogues (it lacks the production that Tekken 7 received). Other negative points are the absence of some fan favorite characters, and the few new ones (only two, besides Geralt).

SoulCalibur VI certainly has plenty of issues, like a lack of extra modes, a few visuals blemishes, the somewhat unimpressive Reverse Edge move, and the usual greedy attitude towards DLC. Nevertheless, it's also a highly entertaining, high-octane fighter that can be enjoyed by greenhorns and veterans alike, as well as being a more than decent revival of the franchise.

Even with all these problems present, Soulcalibur VI still maintains its position as an incredible 3D fighter that does right by its hardcore fanbase.

A successful effort that keeps what made the series unique, but limited content and ok presentation limits its appeal to an extent.

Because it is so accessible and enjoyable, I suspect that Soulcalibur VI will become one of my most played fighting games, because it's just that versatile and enjoyable that I'll just default to it when I'm in the mood for a fighter (or looking to play with someone else).

SoulCalibur VI may have a couple of rough spots but shines as an example of a great fighting game with plenty of love given to nearly every detail.

Project Souls has managed to restore luster to his work. SoulCalibur VI is proposed as an excellent base for newbies and a satisfying title for more experienced players: cared for in many respects, enriched in terms of single player and with an effective reinterpretation of the controls which is flanked by the brand new Reversal Edge, SoulCalibur VI leaves behind the weight of a fifth chapter not very successful to revive the series and in spite of some more or less slight defects, not on a technical level but structural because of the Season Pass, it proves to be one of the best fighting games of this year.

While there are some nagging issues, Soul Calibur VI represents a huge step in the right direction. It does not make me more of a fan of this series than I am of their other 3D fighting game, but I had a lot more fun than I expected. One disadvantage to having so much fun with the game is that I now want to go back and play through The Witcher 3 again as soon as possible (for the seventh time through). That is only a problem because of how many other great games there are to play right now, and Soul Calibur VI is definitely one of those great games. Not only is the $59.99 full price justified, but I can’t blame anyone for spending an additional $29.99 for the Season Pass. That is a bit steep, but 2B fans are going to be chomping at the bit to get their hands on her as a fighter. Meanwhile in the fighting game community, we are again flooded with a glut of riches for new quality games. Plan on seeing a very large presence for Soul Calibur VI at the next Evo. With this game, the series is at it’s best place in a very long time, possibly ever.

SoulCalibur VI comes as a welcome addition to the series despite some niggles. Overall, the package is grand and certainly appeals to fans of the franchise. It’s an accessible title for newcomers and generally heaps of fun to play across all its modes. Obviously, the lack of a bigger budget shows here, but what is provided is enough to charm like-minded players. That said, the creation mode whilst limited in comparison to previous offerings is the star of the show. It’s a game in itself to customise the default roster or make your own deranged or beautiful fighter. The fact players share creations online is a massive boon.
