It's pure fun, and with Warriors Orochi 4, Koei Tecmo has done such a lovely job that I suspect I'll be coming back to it frequently for many years into the future.

Warriors Orochi 4 is like a dream Musou game: matching up the two largest rosters from Omega Force, but like a dream, can at times be pointless or without direction.

Offering up a huge selection of characters and content, Warriors Orochi 4 isn't bringing a lot of new ideas, but it is dishing out a very refined and welcoming minor evolution to the tried and tested Warriors formula.

It's not for everyone, but Warriors Orochi 4's multitudinous hordes can be pleasurable to sweep through, despite the game feeling by-the-numbers in many ways. This is simply more, and while fans might be able to forgive the bland presentation, we'd wager that non-devotees would have a much better time with the Zelda or Fire Emblem spin-offs – with the characters, settings and accoutrement you know and love helping to temper the monotony when you're not quite ‘in the zone'.

I must say that Warriors Orochi 4 is one of the best installment in this unique series. As always, gameplay is the key part in this Franchise and Warriors Orochi 4 provide you with an entertaining and fun gameplay elements that could satisfy you for many hours of playing it. 170 playable characters from Warriors Orochi, Samurai Warriors and Dynasty Warriors series as well as some new characters, create one of the most huge roster in gaming history and meaningly increases the replay value of the game. Although Warriors Orochi 4 has some issues like repetitive level design, weak AI and lack of challenges in many parts of the game, but as a full package, it is a valuable and entertaining game. Warriors Orochi 4 is a must-buy game for fans of 3 mentioned series, and can be a good start for gamers that are new to this type of games.

Even with these flaws though, Warriors Orochi 4 is still a fun game. It serves its purpose and delivers on what it advertises, giving players a power fantasy experience where they can tear through waves of enemies with the touch of a button. It's an enjoyable Musou title which will keep fans entertained, and takes some small steps forward that future installments could use to great effect.

It's a step in the right direction after Dynasty Warriors 9, but still needs a lot of work to match up to some of the other great titles in the series.

If you enjoy the Warriors franchise this is a fantastic experience and a joy to get sucked into "just one more battle" but despite its new features it still feels stale.

Warriors Orochi 4 will not turn a non-believer into a believer. If you are already uninterested in the Warriors franchise, or musou games in general, Warriors Orochi 4 isn't going to change your mind. Yet, I imagine that for most fans, they're merely looking for more of the same. Despite being formulaic and repetitive, you know what you're getting with a Warriors game. And if that's your thing, you'll no doubt have some fun with Warriors Orochi 4.

Warriors Orochi 4 is a true celebration of what means to be a great musou. Proud of its essence and its mission to deliver its own style of fun and unique gameplay, everything was done with the fans in mind, making it one of the best games of the genre in this generation.

Despite rocky presentation and a ho-hum story, Warriors Orochi 4 has been some of the dumbest fun I've had with a video game all year. There's always been something magical about sending dozens of foes flying with giant swords and massive spears, but to up the ante with cross-character combos and absurd magic attacks makes the whole thing even more fun. While the lacklustre story mode didn't provide a strong hook for me to keep playing, I was driven by the swath of new characters I'd unlock with each mission and the new tools and tricks I had at my disposal when I went into the next battle with these additional soldiers. Warriors Orochi 4 doesn't get everything right, but I'd argue it gets the most important thing spot on.

There's too much packed into Warriors Orochi 4 making it an over-complicated mess. It's fun at first, but you'll lose interest as the challenge wanes and you get burdened with micromanagement.

Flashy animations and seamless transitions mark a step up for the Warriors Orochi franchise. However, a bloated cast means several tend to get ignored. Likewise, tacked on mechanics will need some fleshing out.

Overall, with a cast of over 170 characters to play as, an absolutely insane amount of character dialogue and an equally insane amount of enemies to slay, Warriors Orochi 4 will keep you busy for hours and hours on end. The story mode featuring missions that take anywhere from 7 to 20 minutes each to complete results in satisfying battle sessions that are rewarding. Gameplay is excellent despite being repetitive hack and slash based since it is quite simply, incredibly fun and implemented in a non-aggravating non-grindy manner. The sheer number of characters each with unique weapons makes Warriors Orochi 4 a must buy game for fans of the musou game genre and is quite easily one of the best fun games of 2018.

Warriors Orochi 4 is another game in the series. It doesn’t reinvent the wheel and basically stays the course. It’s good for fans, but if you felt like there was something missing before, then this one won’t do much to change your mind.

The story is take it or leave it and Warriors Orochi 4 isn't too welcoming to newcomers in general. If you are a fan of the Orochi games and have a need for this on the go, I guess the Nintendo Switch is the only way you can go. However, in every other instance, there would be other versions of the same game I would recommend more.

It is so difficult to recommend Warriors Orochi 4 right now when the series has made a name for itself through re-released games with added story content, characters and modes. Why would this title be any different? The main story is an enjoyable enough ride for hack and slash fans, but that's really all there is to it (unless you have an online subscription and want to battle with friends). Just wait for the inevitable ultimate edition in a year's time.

Mixes bland enemies and environments with spectacular bosses, playable characters and effects. Repetitive and sometimes a chore but the story is worth SOME of it.
