Metro Exodus is a more than worthy successor to Last Light, successfully introducing open levels to break up the more linear sequences, while also retaining the unique look, feel and incredible atmosphere that made the previous games so memorable.

Metro: Exodus is a good example of how a series can left behind some of its core ideas and still deliver a well-defined experience for the players that played the previous games. With great pace and outstanding atmospheric details, 4A Games latest production will fill the nuclear gap left by the previous leader of the post apocalyptic genre.

Metro Exodus has the potential to be a solid game, but it just isn't there in its current state. Those on the fence best wait for a few patches before picking this one up.

Metro: Exodus offers an amazing opportunity to go on a journey in the vast geography of Russia that is full of anger, pity, happiness, sadness, frustration, fear, worry and hope. A must play.

There are few complaints that can be attributed to Metro Exodus. It is not a perfect game, nor does it come to revolutionize a genre, nor does it pretend it.

The fall section of Metro Exodus is exactly how the rest of the game should have been. The wide linear structure of this section provides great tempo and an overall open ended experience, while the linear and semi open world sections fail to deliver. It is very surprising that the developers didn't learn from Kshatriya DLC and other big franchises that went open world and failed.

Saying that Metro Exodus is the best game in the Metro series is no exaggeration. The vast improvements are remarkable and deliver a fantastic game, even now when shooting games are only recognized by the online factor. Enhanced narrative, charismatic characters, excellent gameplay and flawless visuals make Metro Exodus one of the best shooting games of the generation. Exodus brings a pleasant nostalgia and is mandatory for fans of the franchise as well as worshippers of the genre.

Metro Exodus, 4A's new first-person shooter, is almost a perfect game, introducing exciting new elements while still offering the classic Metro experience.

Ultimately I simply didn’t get what I wanted - or expected - from Metro Exodus.

Deviating from the series’ formula and taking the adventure above ground was a bold move for 4A Games, but it’s paid off. Metro Exodus can be unforgiving at times but it’s a rollicking, radioactive road-trip that’s sure to scratch that post-apocalyptic itch.

Metro Exodus is an absolutely solid, all-around experience. Although the change from indoor to outdoor scenery is striking at first, it allows the gameplay to breathe and feel different from previous titles. The signature makeshift guns are paired well with the new crafting ability, and their lack of stopping power makes firefights meaningful and stealth sections tense. There are still issues here and there, and the presentation could be tighter, but this is a worthy sequel to a game that has earned its cult status throughout the years.

Metro Exodus is an unforgettable adventure. It works perfectly both as a semi-open world shooter and as an emotional story.

Metro Exodus is without a doubt the best crafted game in the Metro series. It has taken the biggest step forward in the series story-wise, and with new options, characters and locations, the game never loses pace. I enjoyed the nearly 30 hours I spent in the game immensely, and I'm not afraid to say that Metro is still one of the elite old-school shooters.

Metro Exodus is a great story driven first person shooter. It’s possibly the best in the genre we’ve received in the past few years. It expands on the fantastic lore of the Metro universe and has implemented new systems to make the moment to moment gameplay more fun. Bringing the journey out of the subway systems has breathed fresh life into the series, allowing us to visit a number of varied environments along the way. While it still has some issues that have plagued the series since it’s inception it’s still an incredibly solid game and one that should be experienced if you enjoy a great first person shooter campaign.

Metro Exodus takes a different approach than previous installments in the Metro-franchise. The game feels more like STALKER and that's a good thing. The only question is how much of the old Metro-soul remains. A great experience, but a different Metro.

Metro Exodus is a very fine entry in Artyom’s journey. Its inconsistent AI drains some of the immersion, as does its oddly silent protagonist that has a defined personality during loading screens. These are small bumps along Artyom’s intense and evocative journey. Metro Exodus’ diegetic design and thrilling encounters will leave an impact beyond reaching the end credits.

I know what you’re thinking, Metro Exodus has been out a good while now but the version that has been optimised for Xbox Series S|X has recently released and so this will be a slightly different kind of review. Metro Exodus on the PlayStation 5 is more than a simple upgrade, but instead takes advantage of everything the console has to offer. Excellent visuals and performance? Check. Immersive DualSense functionality? Check. Activity Card features to keep track of everything in each area? Check. It really has it all (and I haven’t even touched upon the improved loading times). Whilst the gameplay remains the same (and still has some of the same flaws in places), the new innovations and improvements brought with the PlayStation 5 version of Metro Exodus really take things to the next level. Whether you have played through the adventure before or this is your first time exploring this desolate and broken world, the PlayStation 5 offers the best way to experience it.
