Resident Evil 2 Reviews
The remake of Resident Evil 2 is therefore what was supposed to be, what we wanted it to be: a title that is able to offer a new body to some of our best videogame memories. Welcome back to Raccoon City.
Resident Evil 2 is an absolutely phenomenal remake, one which is bolstered by the developer's renewed sense of confidence and a newfound sense of direction. Capcom has fully come to grips with what the series should look like in this day and age, and the end result is pure survival horror, retooled and retweaked for a modern audience. The Godfather of survival horror is back.
Resident Evil 2 sets a high bar for future remakes of any franchise.
No matter what your past with this series, this new face of Resident Evil 2 must be within your priorities at all costs, because the love work that was printed on it, is something that I had not been able to see inside the medium.
There was a time when I thought I was done with Resident Evil games. Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil 2, however, showed me that the franchise not only has enough left in the tank but possesses even more possibilities that have yet to be tapped. Resident Evil 6 felt like a lost zombie searching for its soul and grasping at anything it could hold onto. The Resident Evil 2 remake, on the other hand feels like, well, a Resident Evil game. As someone who loved the earlier entries in the franchise, that’s the highest compliment I can give it.
Resident Evil 2's remake highlights just how great Capcom's first sequel in the Resident Evil series ways, but does it in a way that makes it the most compelling entry in the series thus far. It's smart changes merge with the classic design expertly, while its atmosphere is rich thanks to gorgeous lighting and incredible sound design. It's a reminder of the past, but this remake would be a fine direction for the future of Resident Evil
The game assures that the malicious ideas that guided Resident Evil 7 may become the governing principles of the series moving forward.
Resident Evil 2 is one of the most exciting games I've in a long time.
Capcom has laid the foundations for what a good remake should be. Personally, I'm not surprised, they already did it with Resident Evil 1 in the Gamecube era and as with that previous work, the new REsident Evil team has taken some licenses in the lore of the game to better unite it. However, it still seems to me that there have been wasted opportunities to give consistency to the original, such as repeating puzzles, in Code Veronica the puzzles that one completed did not impede the progress of the other.

If one were to judge a horror title solely on its ability to suspend its audience in a state of dreadful tension, Resident Evil 2 would be quite accomplished.
Resident Evil 2 is an absolutely essential experience for fans of survival horror. We're not yet at the point where we can confidently recommend purchasing a cloud version of the game on Switch if you've got access to a native version on another platform (and as the old-school gamers we are, we may never reach that point), but given that we encountered next to no streaming-related hitches during our time with it, this is a more-than-acceptable choice if it's the only one available to you. Fans waited years for a remake of Resident Evil 2, and it's safe to say that the wait was well and truly worth it.
Resident Evil 2 takes a masterpiece and twists it until it resembles something completely new without betraying the spirit of the original.
The traditions of survival horror have been modernised, resulting in something that's all-too-familiar yet always manages to keep you on your toes.
Resident Evil 2 is not only an entirely new game – it is also a great one. The sudden jump-scares are perhaps a bit unsophisticated, but they get the job done. Furthermore, the game offers a well-written story and over a dozen hours of pure fun, action, and puzzles. Amazing job.

Resident Evil 2 survives the horror of summiting a twenty-one year old apex. Time-worn mechanics, either left abandoned or considered obsolete, are accountably refashioned through an agile interface and a relentless commitment to creating tension. Resident Evil 2's pervasive sense of dread, the handshake between past and present, remains delightfully, gruesomely in place.
An unexpected horror delight, Resident Evil 2 is a fantastic example of how to remake a classic while staying faithful to the original.
Resident Evil 2 is much more than a HD update that so many people thought it would be. Just like Resident Evil when it was brought back for the Gamecube, things have been changed around enough to make the game fresh and exciting, even for those Resident Evil diehards who have played the original to death.
