Mortal Kombat 11 offers a fantastic middle ground of depth and accessibility, providing tactical excitement in a beautifully presented, densely packed, and easily digestible package. NetherRealm's latest title is a resounding success.

Mortal Kombat 11 offers the same gory, over-the-top violence that we've come to love from the series. The story is interesting, meshing past and present together in a fun way. Several modes offer replayability, but the grinding resources for the Krypt may get tedious.

Stephen Hawking, real killjoy that he was, ruined the possibility of time travel in the span of a single sentence in A Brief History of Time. "If time travel is possible," asked the cosmologist, "where are all the tourists from the future?" Think about it: the nitwit snapping a selfie at the signing of the...

You need only look at Mortal Kombat 11 to see that it's a cut above many fighting games currently on the market. Fleshing out what NetherRealm has previously brought to the table, Mortal Kombat 11 not only draws upon the series' legacy in a way that will delight fans, but will also appeal to fighting aficionados of all kinds.

It may not be a flawless victory, but Mortal Kombat 11 puts up one hell of fight.

Mortal Kombat 11 serves up everything that you would expect from an MK game. Gore, broken bones, fatalities, brutalities, great combat, and a solid netcode. The Story Mode was entertaining for a bit but felt a bit cheesy. The Towers and The Krypt are things you could skip if you don't care about cosmetics.

Mortal Kombat 11 looks great and manages to make things fascinating to watch. With the ability to interact with people and tons of new and comical finishing moves, it has a lot to delight fans. Even if fatal blows and the unlock system need to be reworked, it's still a good fighting game. At most, I'd say it's something to be cautious of and certainly see what, if anything, changes in the future, it just hinges on what you want. Those looking to fight people online or just love the franchise will likely have a blast, it's those who really care about cosmetics that might take a hit.

Mortal Kombat 11 is a great fighter tarnished by Warner Bros.’ willingness to test the limits of customer satisfaction using nickle-and-dime tactics. It’s truly an embarrassment for the franchise and one I hope is truly corrected soon.

Mortal Kombat 11 is both joyful and frustrating. It's far and away a superior game to Mortal Kombat X where it truly matters - the roster is strong and varied, the visuals are phenomenal, and the flow of battle is as sharp as ever. If you play with friends, solid online offerings will deliver in droves. If you're thinking of playing solo, although Story mode is some of Netherrealm's best, the grind to unlock everything beyond that is sobering. It's this grind that means Mortal Kombat 11 stands besides Mortal Kombat X, and not above it.

Mortal Kombat 11 features an addictive core gameplay loop and a ton of interesting gameplay modes, but some weird grinding mechanics with the gear system and Towers of Time may put off some players.

But for completionists or Mortal Kombat super-fans then perhaps the stingy nature of ‘unlocking everything' will take its toll.

While some things could still use slight cleanup, what Mortal Kombat 11 brings to the table is more than hearty – provided you can stomach all the tearing apart these warriors do. If you can take a few fatalities into your system, you’ll love what this game can do for you. NOW FIGHT!
