JUMP FORCE Reviews

JUMP FORCE is ranked in the 12th percentile of games scored on OpenCritic.

Jump Force somehow only achieves mediocrity at best despite the star power found on its roster and the potential that comes with that cast. The characters are indeed faithfully recreated, stylish abilities and all, but nothing feels seamless.

The problem is that outside of the actual gameplay, everything else about Jump Force feels unfinished. The hub world is an utter disaster, the character creator feels flat, the roster is unbalanced, and you are almost guaranteed to give up on the story mode before you get to the end.

Jump Force tries once again to bring characters from the most popular Shonan Jump franchises together, but once again fails to find balance with its characters and its mechanics. There is fun to be had, but when you dig deep into Jump Force it starts to show just how unpolished it truly is.

Jump Force is another primitive product created to make some quick cash on most loyal fans.

Jump Force can be fun with friends when you're just looking for a quick and easy scrap, but as a celebration of all things Jump, it's a borderline embarrassment. Thanks to a truly egregious art style and comically bad story presentation, this is an accessible and often fun crossover brawler let down by its disappointingly shoddy packaging. Ultimately, it's difficult not to feel as though all of these classic manga and anime properties deserve much better than Jump Force.

Unfortunately, Jump Force feels like an unfinished game that had a lot of potential and cause for celebration riding on it

Jump Force's gameplay is spectacular and amazing, but too many technical issues get in the way, ruining part of the fun.

Jump Force has major problems, but it can actually be really fun. It feels tedious when playing missions, and repetitive at times in combat. But using your favourite characters' abilities in battle remains fun throughout. It's going to be an acquired taste, but anime fans will actually find a lot to enjoy here. Just stick to the online play, where you can remain blissfully ignorant of the awful cutscenes and animation.

Jump Force is a stunning explosion of iconic manga characters across decades of publication, all wrapped up in a single package of over the top brawling that is decadent on the outside and ultimately hollow inside when cracked open.

Jump Force makes combat its focus, giving you addictive, if unbalanced, manga-inspired gameplay at the expense of a compelling story. If you want to beat up your buddies with your favorite Shonen Jump character this is the game for you, but don't expect much else.

Jump Force doesn't even come close to the standard of quality that Shonen Jump fans would expect. Its many missteps, from the creepy visuals to basic design shortcomings tarnishes the experience at every turn. This one should be avoided at all costs.

Jump Force features a nice mix of characters from Shonen Jump's storied history of franchises for manga fans. The visuals feel a bit off for manga crossover and elements of the game feel quite rough around the edges. Gameplay is also a bit too simple but does make for some fast-paced action. Manga fans intrigued by dream matches between their favorite characters might still want to give this one a shot as this type of game doesn't come around often. Unlike many of the protagonists that show up in this game, however, Jump Force doesn't quite break its limits to realize its full potential.

Despite having 50 years of legacy to work from, this manga mash-up feels like a rush job. The combat offers basic fun, but as a complete package, Jump Force is a flop.Jack Ridsdale

Jump Force could have been another great fighter but is held back by dreadful animation, a tiresome main hub, questionable mechanics and a lackluster story. Fans looking for the next great thing in Anime Fighters will likely be left unimpressed and wanting.

Junp Force works great both as a combat title with easy and fun gameplay mechanics and a crossover plagued with tons of fanservice derived from the manga and series it gathers. Sadly, its presentacion leaves a lot to be desired, its story is completely absurd and you have some technical issues that restrain it from becoming that dream game many fans wanted.

Jump Force is the kind of game that would usually just come and go due to how unimpressive and flawed of an effort it is, and it's more than likely that that's exactly what it is going to do. And yet, buried beneath all of the bad is some honest amount of good. It's almost a shame that Jump Force wasn't more of a mess in everything other than its 3-vs-3 fights, because the game would be a whole lot more enjoyable if we were able to laugh at its terribleness more often.

Everything outside of that core combat feels so wishy-washy and uninteresting, that I can't recommend Jump Force to anyone that doesn't have an immediate interest in anime. If these characters have been a huge part of your life, or you're familiar with a few of the series, you'll definitely enjoy it, but go in with some lowered expectations.

There's no ease way to put it: Jump Force is a massive disappointment. The game should be an epic celebration of 50 years of legendary characters and stories. What we're left with is a dated game that looks like a cheap cash grab. Goku, Naruto, Luffy and friends deserve so much better.

Jump Force excels at fanservice, at showing what battles between all these characters would look like. It does not excel as an actual fighting game however. Unbalanced mechanics and poorly designed UI make Jump Force a chore to play, despite the exciting visual trappings.
