Gears Tactics Reviews
Gears Tactics is the perfect mix for me. Great universe and great gameplay. It may still be a little better, but it's already a MUST for many... While there are still a few things you can improve.

Gears Tactics is a round game that knows how to adapt the essence of the franchise to a new format. And it does so in a masterful way, adapting its unique characteristics and bringing new elements to the tactical genre. A good example is the final bosses and the way to face them, something unique and that brings a breath of fresh air into the game itself.

Gears Tactics is a fun and cerebral-challenging addition to the turn-based strategy line of games that go beyond what is expected. While it’s not wholly original, it presents a lot of time-tested mechanics in a streamlined and intuitive way while also not being afraid of challenging its audience.
The original trilogy (staring Marcus Fenix as the protagonist) may have been the franchise at its height, but I can see Gears Tactics becoming a whole new beast of its own merit. From the excellent gameplay boiling down to cover-based movement and fast-paced actions, through to the progression and customisation systems put in place to ensure players always have a choice, it is evident that Gears Tactics is XCOM redefined, and it is exceptional.
Gears Tactics requires a specific approach. Players looking for complex gameplay similar to the ancient UFO need to be warned – GT is even simpler than the newest XCOMs. It’s definitely not a game to cater to core veterans. However, this is the perfect introduction to tactical strategy for anyone who found the complexity intimidating!

Gears Tactics fully understands what a T-RPG is, however, it lacked a little more ambition to be able to rub shoulders with the greats of the genre. With a more varied mission design and better-managed depth of management, it would have shone the most.

Gears Tactics borrows liberally from 2K's iconic strategy franchise, but brings plenty of its own Locust Horde flavour to the table
Even with some flaws, Gears Tactics manages to meet and exceed expectations. Fluid and fast-paced action, along with tactical decisions, will keep you on the move. Likewise, brutal firefights and executions, as well as battles against massive bosses, capture the frenetic Gears of War experience for an entirely different genre.
It is time for a new Gears. Not for a Gears that we are used to, but a Gears that changes to something else. Splash Damage and The Coalition are in charge of bringing us this title set 12 years before Gears Of War. Of course, it happens on our beloved Planet Sera; and yes, this planet is almost ours as Earth itself.

Gears Tactics has great mechanics and overall is a fantastic strategy game, although some of its missions feel more like a chore.

Gears Tactics' devs took a lot of inspiration and know-how from the XCOM series, but they implemented it so elegantly, it's not very bothersome at all. The visual style and atmosphere stayed very true to the original series, but the whole experience is compromised by repetitive forced side missions and weak RPG progression.

This isn’t a gimmick or reskin of XCOM. This is something great that stands on its own.
Gears Tactics doesn’t have to rival the latest main-series game to get across the franchise’s grand ambitions of worldwide conflict.
Gears Tactics is a fantastic strategy game and an excellent addition to the Gears of War series, and I’d recommend it to anyone who is either a fan of Gears of War, or to the XCOM series style of game.
Gears Tactics perfectly translates the aggressive, bloody action of the series to a turn-based format.
A fast-paced and accessible turn-based action game that if anything feels constrained by the predictable nature of the Gears Of War universe.
Gears franchise reach new horizon with superior turn-based strategy game with admirable graphics and good gameplay.

Gears Tactics is big and brash at times, but it's also deep, intelligent and balanced, with all the heart and passion we've come to expect from a Gears game.
I really enjoyed Gears Tactics. Everything just comes together so well and without doubt, it’s one of the surprise packages of 2020. Cast it aside and discredit at your own risk Gears Tactics is a brilliant game that works as well as any other in the genre on almost every level.
