Streets of Rage 4 is unmistakably a sequel to this classic franchise; the developers understood what made the originals so great, and expanded upon them in ways that make sense. The most lovably crafted and well-designed brawler in ages.

Streets of Rage 4 is an enchanting retro surprise, bursting onto the scene and overcoming many of the justified grievances fans might have with reviving such an esteemed property. The combat is fierce, the music is banging and its sense of style is simply marvellous.

Streets of Rage 4 is definitely a welcomed addition to the epic series.

Fans of the original have no excuse for not picking it up and reliving some cherished memories with a friend. And even nostalgia aside, it’s one of the most fun beat-em-ups I’ve played in years with a lot going for it.

It's the best kind of retro throwback, reminding us how hard these kinds of games could hit.

Twenty five years after the last episode, Streets of Rage sure is back. Filled with love for the series, Streets of Rage 4 is a dense and rich experience, thanks to more complex mecanics, lots of beautiful levels, and so many game modes to play it again and again. Too bad the promised soundtrack does not reach the same hights, and that we will have to wait for a correct online experience.

From great musical and visual presentation, to smooth fluid gameplay and unlockable content, bundled with online co-op play, Streets of Rage 4 is an absolute blast to play. Not disappointing in the least, it's more than just the finest addition to the series; it's the best in the genre, in my opinion.

Streets of Rage 4 proves to be a heavy hitter, paying homage to the beloved series while not being held back by what came before. The new art style shines, the soundtrack is as good as ever and I enjoyed every minute of it. It's a game I'll be revisiting for a long time to come. Day one purchase worthy game.

It's been more than 25 years since the last Streets of Rage game, and while ostensibly, Streets of Rage 4 might seem like more of the same, there's no way that could ever be considered a bad thing. Streets of Rage 4 is well worth the wait.

it is obvious the love and attention that went into creating Streets of Rage 4, a game made first and foremost for fans, but made accessible and engaging enough for casual players to enjoy. Streets of Rage 4 is a must play, particularly towards fans who may have been on the fence.

Every old school franchise should be so lucky to get such a great sequel that obviously had a lot of thought and care put in by the teams involved. Clearly, if you enjoy Streets of Rage or the side scrolling brawler, especially when playing with up to three other people, Streets of Rage 4 should be on your list of titles to get.

As this sort of game always did, it remains a fairly pointless one-player experience that comes alive when playing with a friend or two. For nostalgic fans of the genre, it will serve up a treat, albeit one that doesn't last all that long.

Streets of Rage 4 is a solid tribute to the genre it arguably helped shape, but this feels like more of the same with a fresh coat of paint rather than an all-out reinvention. What’s on offer here is reminiscent and nostalgic, and still a great time, but it ultimately lacks the oomph to elevate it beyond the games that came before it.

Not only does Streets of Rage 4 live up to the franchise's legacy, but it also manages to be different enough to stand out in this genre. This is one game where you won't get far simply mashing punch and you need to make bold plays and smart combos if you want to succeed. Thankfully, the reward is high and there is a fair number of ways to try to be the best warrior you can be, even if most of the experience will be score runs. So, if you're looking for a good modern beat 'em up game, there really isn't many things better than Streets of Rage 4.

It took 23 years, but I'm happy to say that Streets of Rage is back and then some. The gameplay is reminiscent of games of the past while bringing in new mechanics that push the game further. Thanks to the insight from the developers, there's still plenty to do after the game has been beaten, which ensures players will be picking up the controls for a long time. I couldn't have asked for a better follow-up to the classic series. All that's needed now is for the online components to be fixed and this is will be perfect in my opinion.

Despite having a hefty 26 year gap between Streets of Rage 3 and Streets of Rage 4, the franchise has thankfully not missed a step. It's a familiar, safe, cocktail of furious on-screen fighting, blood-pumping dance beats and enchanting visuals.

At eleven chapters it's the perfect length, and yet I can't help but feel that I'd keep playing for as long as it kept throwing me new chapters. Then again, "New Game" is right there. The same thugs will happily line right back up, likely with the added confidence of a higher difficulty setting, and I'll be just as happy to keep punching them.
