It's a great option for players who want to enter Tsubasa's world. It may not satisfy more serious football fans, but gamers looking for a nice arcade football game definitely give it a try.

Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions, despite not shining for stubbornness and technical sector, turns out to be very fun and engaging even for those who have never heard of Captain Tsubasa; for those who spent their childhood with him, they will find in the title an excellent pastime that will allow them to dive lightly into their memories and experience them from another perspective. If you are looking for hyper-realism, go elsewhere, here you will find goalkeepers flying into goal, smashed and deformed balls, flying twins and many other techniques that make Ronaldo and Messi look like beginners when compared to Japanese fourteen year olds. And all of this is very beautiful.

Captain Tsubasa : Rise of New Champions is not a very good arcade-style football game. But it has the Captain Tsubasa's signature that offers some epic moments during its matches, and everything fans need to be hooked, like two story modes and some basic but strong ways to play with friends offline or online. It's very simplistic, quickly repetitive, but also very very enjoyable, especially if you're in need of something less serious.

Even with some of its mechanical and story-telling shortcomings Rise of New Champions is a fun time that shows why this is a beloved series. There's a lot of joy to be had in following Tsubasa's story and creating your own and the flashy football action has some shining moments. With some more tuning and gameplay focus, there's a really bright future for Nankatsu's football star.

As a traditional football game, Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions falls flat in many ways. As its own unique interpretation of the sport, though, there's something oddly compelling about the way it gives each goalie an energy bar as if it were some sort of ball-based fighting game (Street Striker II, if you will). Play it with an open mind and as long as you're not against a game that tries something different – as well as plenty of cutscenes – you'll have fun with this one. If you're a fan of the wider Captain Tsubasa franchise, then you're going to love it even more.

If you’re a football fan that also loves anime then Captain Tsubasa is a must. There’s no denying it’s a fun game. The visual novel style story modes have some great moments and if you enjoy that style of storytelling you’re in for a treat. Hopefully, this is the start of a renaissance for Captain Tsubasa video games because Rise of New Champions is a great foundation for future instalments.

Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions is not a perfect game, and it's not the most mechanically dense game, but thankfully, it doesn't have to be. Its strengths lie in its unhinged, over-the-top on-pitch action and its delightfully silly presentation. If you're looking for a football game that lets you focus on all the fun aspects of the sport while ignoring almost everything to do with tactics and strategy, this is the game for you.

There's a certain level of disappointment to shed with Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions. As much as it meets (maybe even exceeds) expectations set earlier this year - which in of itself is a notable accomplishment for any form of adaptation - the lack of care and polish on the PC side of things at present can not go unnoticed.

If you are a fan of the Anime, you will find a lot to love in Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions, with a story packed with your favorite characters. Its fun gameplay comes with some flaws and it can get repetitive with time, and for that it's not a game made for everyone.

Popular anime series Captain Tsubasa gets adapted to a football RPG video game, and the game keeps fragile balance between football and anime. Mostly.

Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions will not go down in history as a great football arcade. But the staunch fan will recall nostalgic afternoons with the spin shot or the tiger shot, which are spectacular in the game. Perhaps the mechanics of having to "tire" the goalkeeper will become somewhat repetitive in the long run, but it is a totally enjoyable game.

Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions’ secret to success is that it puts the spotlight on its beloved characters and their unique abilities to tell a great sports story. No matter how ridiculous or unbelievable they are, it works as long as it entertains and inspires their audience.

Overall, Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions is a great game for those who are fans of anime and those looking for a game with flashy skills to enhance the player's experience . On the other hand in terms of game mechanics we can see several gaps, where one of the is related with the robotic movements of the players on the field. If you are looking for an arcade football game it is possibly one of the most interesting and captivating on the market, but it should be noted that it presents a very different premise than games like FIFA or PES, more focused on the technical and simulation aspect of this sport.

As a whole, Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions is a somewhat enjoyable soccer/football game if you're looking for an alternative aside from FIFA and PES. While the gameplay isn't perfect, I can see fans of the manga liking this game more than anyone else though.

Captain Tsubasa has genuine depth behind its arcade flair, but the initial presentation leaves a lot to be desired thanks to a dull, aggravating, and sluggish introduction to its characters and systems.

Captain Tsubasa does not go out of its way to be more than a game for the fans of the manga. As a fan myself, I enjoyed reliving Oozora Tsubasa's middle school journey and the world cup, but I found the gameplay to be too superficial.
