When it comes to actually providing a fun experience, that's a bit more shaky. While the exploration based framework and interconnected world comes off very well, the combat is such an unavoidable drag, and since that is such a core part of gameplay, everything is brought down with it. There's still a lot of value to be found if you're a cyberpunker, but otherwise, the future is bleak.
With a phenomenal Cyberpunk aesthetic and fantastic characters, Dex is close to being an incredible experience. Lackluster combat and hacking let it down, but it still has a lot to offer for fans of the grim Sci-fi setting.
Dex is gorgeous to look at, has a captivating story to engage in and is downright frustrating when you need to fight your way out of danger.
Dex is a well-made game, packing all the features you'd expect from a cyberpunk adventure.
Dex, a dark and charming 2D title is a veritable mix of genres and gameplay pieces, making it worth taking the time to play.
Dex lacks in some areas, but I think the overall experience was pretty enjoyable. Being able to make your own choices and have different outcomes adds a lot of replay value. (Not a game for kids)
A gritty, cyberpunk action-RPG that doles out punishment and interesting story-telling in equal measure.
Overall, Dex is an excellent take on a cyberpunk Deus Ex game, and it managed to accomplish that with a smaller development budget.
Dex is a bit of a mixed bag. It’s atmosphere and characters are good enough for anyone to dive into. However, the combat, hacking, and menu systems are flawed. This will be a deal-breaker for those who want to uncover the truth but simply can’t get good. Dex does not lend itself properly to compliment its difficulty with unpolished mechanics, and the story alone won’t compensate this issue for many players.
