I have hugely enjoyed my time playing Little Nightmares II on Xbox. The mature themes and tense moments that made the first game so fun are present in full force, and like the first game there are plenty of secrets to be found and stories to uncover. If you want a good horror platformer, then Little Nightmares II doesn’t disappoint.

GREAT - Little Nightmares II absolutely nails the dreary and hopeless atmosphere thanks to its detailed graphics and ominous musical score. Even though there’s no narration or story told through text, the game somehow manages to make you care about the main characters and want to help them escape to a better life. Unenjoyable combat and sloppy controls hold the game back from becoming what it could have been, but there’s plenty here to like to give it a hearty recommendation.

Little Nightmares II is an excellent follow-up to an already terrific game. While the changes it makes to the series’ established formula, such as the dual protagonist story and the addition of combat, are a bit hit or miss, I still found it nearly impossible to put the game down during my six-hour playthrough thanks to its satisfying puzzles and unrivaled atmosphere. If you’re a fan of the original Little Nightmares, then this is a game you won’t want to miss. However, if the performance problems I mentioned have you on the fence (though honestly, they’re not that bad), perhaps consider picking up the game on a more capable platform than the Switch.

Managing to go beyond the first game, Little Nightmares 2 successfully makes you feel like you are a weak character in a twisted world.

Little Nightmares 2 retreads many of the concepts that made the first game such a hit and provides a familiar journey that fans of the original will love.

Little Nightmares II is a great sequel that builds on the strengths of the first game while making some key adjustments to the gameplay and the overall experience. This new chapter met all my expectations with a compelling story that ties into the first game beautifully. Although the controls are not as buttery smooth as I wish, it is a fun and quick little game that is very well put together.

Little Nightmares II offers an atmospheric romp inside a crazed, surreal world. Part horror, a little stealth with some platform-puzzle solving tossed-in make this a joy to play. It is short in length though, so bear that in mind if you are on a budget and perhaps wait for a sale. Some fiddly controls might get the better of you at times as well, but persevere and you have a very good game well worth checking out.

Little Nightmares II is an intense and atmospheric scary experience, which, however, is a bit weak on the gameplay side. The character and sound design are still excellently staged, the entertaining puzzles fit well into the minimalistic concept and the whimsical design fascinates from the first minute on. Nevertheless, the unintuitive and sluggish controls keep nibbling away at our frustration tolerance, and the trail & error concept unfortunately repeatedly pulls us out of the intense atmosphere. Like its predecessor, Little Nightmares II may not be a hardcore horror, but it is a likeable and entertaining thrill ride that will keep you entertained for a few hours.

Little Nightmares II then – a grimy, grotesque and greasy journey through a city of nightmares, it’s inhabitants a collection of melted skin and incorrect proportions, a twisted take on the world around us, with everything good and pure buried under an all powerful darkness. A journey worth not just experiencing, but one you deserve to survive through too. Will you be able to recall all the details once you’ve woken up? Probably – but you may not want to do so. Not yet. Let the nightmare fade first. Let the light come back in.

Little Nightmares 2 is a spooky puzzle adventure game. The sound and graphics build an apprehensive atmosphere and GETTING SCARED is a possibility that’s always there. You play as Mono and have an AI friend called Six. Together, you will solve puzzles, escape from morbid creatures, kill some of them, and for completionist gamers, there are hats, souls, and achievements to collect. Puzzles’ difficulty varies from easy to hard, to beat the game you need to complete all 5 chapters of the story. To have the best gameplay experience, HEADPHONES ARE A MUST to fully immerse in that dark world.

Little Nightmares II is a sequel that everyone can love especially those die-hard fans of the franchise. You’re still greeted with unexpected threats lurking in every dark corner, the uneasy feeling you get when you walk through corridors and windows, and the unexpected twist at the end. I had a great time in my 5-6 hours of playthrough and I can say, it’s worth binging through all the chapters in one sitting. But that ending, wow.

If your heart condition is adequate and you are good at controlling both puzzles and escapes, Little Nightmares II is a must for you. Its mechanics and level design are great, creating a game that can be used as a reference for the next generations in what it proposes to do: terrorize, involve and induce logical reasoning without major frustrations of the player. It is a pity that the story is not integraded in the game — key plot information is available on the internet and not in the gameplay.

Tense, beautifully rendered and armed with some fantastic sound design, Little Nightmares II is an unnerving deep dive into a nightmarish world you’ll never want to leave. The game is a shining example of how to do horror right.

Little Nightmares II manages to ratchet up the tension in every conceivable way that is dreadful without ever truly being scary. Tarsier Studios has brought out the best of themselves here. With a longer campaign, a larger world to soak up, and more creatures to experience, this is a bigger and better game in every regard. Little Nightmares II doesn’t reuse a single trick, has compelling reasons to experience this terrifying ordeal, and will encourage you to do it all over again to find its secrets.

If you are a fan of puzzle games and love the adrenaline of a good horror title, Little Nightmares II should definitely be in your collection. Despite the slow plot and few details, the game is a huge evolution from its predecessor, both in terms of gameplay, which brought new ideas, as in the proposal of psychological terror, ensuring many distressing and breathtaking moments.

Regardless of whether or not I return to play Little Nightmares II again, it was one hell of a ride that I won’t soon forget. It had my attention from start to finish and was perfect through and through. The atmosphere, story surprises, and tense moments kept me up playing way too late on a work night and I don’t regret a moment of it.

Despite some annoying glitches, Little Nightmares 2 is a game any horror fan should play. The controls are simplistic, but the puzzles and enemies provide plenty of challenge. While still charming, the horror feels darker, and the themes will have you thinking for a long time after you finish the game. While you won’t need to play the first game to understand the events of Little Nightmares 2, any fan of the series will have fun piecing together how these two games connect.
