An entertaining, action-heavy adventure that explores more about the history of Resident Evil and gives Ethan Winters more time to shine.

Resident Evil Village has some of the biggest scares in the series to date, but it also has a peculiar feel to it, like a lot of story and gameplay was chopped out before launch.

An audacious and ambitious game that ranks among the best of the series, even if it's a touch inharmonious.

Resident Evil Village may be the best Resident Evil of all time. It certainly is up there with the best of the series, but that heavily depends on your kind of RE game. If you enjoyed RE4 or RE7 then you'll probably like this one. And if you enjoyed both of them as much as each other then this very well could be one of the best. It certainly is for me.

I enjoyed my time in Village to a large extent. I can’t quite claim this to be a masterpiece but it is definitely a must have. Whether you’re new or old to the franchise, Resident Evil Village is a delightfully thrilling experience for connoisseurs of horror.

Even though Resident Evil Village turned down the scare factor, it still remains an enjoyable ride from start to finish.

Village is marked by a maturity that’s new to Resident Evil. Even when it steers us toward the traditional climax set inside a laboratory, the route feels more intimate and thoughtful than it ever has in a Resident Evil game. What elements Capcom doesn’t bring into Village from its predecessor, they’ve carefully replaced with a striking sense of emotional logic. Resident Evil, as a series, reinvented itself in Biohazard, and with Village it continues to grow up.

Resident Evil Village takes its horror roots and kicks the action up to another level, all while capturing the campy elements the franchise is known for.

In the end, Resident Evil Village is a masterpiece; A masterpiece made with the familiar feeling of Resident Evil 4! Extremely diverse environments with unparalleled architecture, stunning graphics are a real shock to the new generation RE Engine, combat systems and mechanics at their best, and dozens of others all go hand in hand to make one the best Game of the year.

The previous rendition of RE was a spicy mix of horror reboot. This time, they’ve watered down the spice a tiny bit and engineered some ‘action’ into the mix. The end result was that those who weren’t courageous enough to face the horror genre, was now able to experience the latest iteration of Resident Evil and get a taste of what it has to offer. The puzzle and exploration is much more rewarding and less of a headache this time around. With plenty of bonus contents to dig up including the past history of ‘The Baker Incident Report’, If you’re a fan of Resident Evil, you won’t be disappointed.

A more interesting setting and still-fun gameplay can't stop Resident Evil Village from getting in its own way and being more of the same.

Resident Evil Village is an incredible piece of work, capable of keeping us glued to the screen for the entire story. Although there are some flaws that make it closer to an excellent game rather than a masterpiece, we recommend everyone to play it as it's a good product in almost all aspects, which could also make you approach the saga for the first time.

Resident Evil Village is a worthwhile addition to Capcom’s survival horror franchise. It’s an explosive and brutal thrill ride that will surely please fans of Resident Evil 4 or those who enjoyed Resident Evil 7 but felt it could use a bit more action. While I don’t think I’d call it my personal favorite entry in the series (that honor goes to Resident Evil 2), I feel Capcom has done an admirable job of combining the strengths of two of the franchise’s most memorable titles to create something new and exciting. If you’re a fan of the series, then this is one game that absolutely deserves a spot in your PS5 library.

Resident Evil Village doesn’t reach the dizzying heights of my personal favourite game in the franchise, Resident Evil 2 Remake. It does, however, provide one of the best Action Horror gameplay experiences out there. Whilst it may seem like a successor to RE4, there’s a lot of the other games in here as well, making it one of the most complete Resident Evil experiences to date.

Resident Evil Village is another outstanding entry in one of the best franchises in gaming. Capcom has done a wonderful job of keeping the series fresh and interesting since its inception back in 1996. I still get excited when a new game in the series drops. It is an event that few other franchises can carry for this long. This game is one of the easiest to recommend and it is on a short list of my favorite game experiences of the year. I expect to be discussing it when the end of 2021 rolls around.

When you look back over the course of the Resident Evil series, you come away with a lot of individual feelings and reactions. There’s the corniness of the first few games, the shift to action, tons of side stories that don’t seem to go anywhere, and the recent tonal change to hardcore horror. It’s from all of these disparate elements that Resident Evil Village draws, fusing them into a blueprint from which the series can grow into something new.
