The upside to all this is, DICE can continually push out patches in order to stomp out bugs, add in features, and so on. This is a live service game, so expect more content to be doled out as the game’s lifecyle continues. However, will players still be there when the game finally realizes its potential? We can’t say for certain. As it is right now, one can’t help but feel disappointed at BF2042. It should have beent he big one that made people forget about the sour taste BFV left in everyone’s mouth. But sadly, BF2042 seems to show that DICE has not learned from their past mistakes, and have even created new ones that shouldn’t have been issues at all.

There’s a lot to love with Battlefield 2042; on its surface it still delivers on those “Battlefield moments” and the new Portal mode is phenomenal. However, the changes to the main competitive mode just feel like they shatter the core of what makes Battlefield tick.

Despite the promising Portal mode, Battlefield 2042, which uses players as a tester, still gives the impression of an incomplete game with its errors and important problems.

Battlefield 2042 is rather enjoyable and has so much potential to be one of the best Battlefield games ever, as well as last for many years, but for now, it definitely won’t reach it, because it is rather shocking that this game has this number of problems, despite having a few years to develop this, as well as solely focusing on just multiplayer.

Battlefield 2042 is a shallow, feature-lacking mess of a game that appeals to neither long-time franchise fans nor newcomers. Go back to Battlefield V, or Battlefield 1, or Battlefield 4. Just don't play this.

Unfortunately it has started to be recurrent in the video game industry to release titles as "unfinished" and where BattleField 2042 seems to fit perfectly. But despite that, we believe that with the implementation of several patches, all the bugs we found in the game can be solved and EA and DICE give a clear shot with the new dynamics inserted.

Battlefield 2042 is not the title that will revolutionize the franchise. The overall experience remains similar despite the addition of characters or natural disasters. If some features bring a little comfort to the gameplay, the sensations are the same as before. The absence of the single-player mode to put all of the energy of the DICE developers on multiplayer does not make it possible to focus on the proposed universe even if this decision undoubtedly made it possible to develop the excellent Portal mode which offers real diversity during clashes. Without forgetting that if on Xbox Series X I did not experience any particular technical problems, they are indeed present on the PC version which is still inconstant today and still contains huge bugs. Overall, I don't think this new Battlefield is the long-awaited opus by the community!

Battlefield 2042 had the potential to be the best entry in the series, but the numerous issues and poor state of launch severely undercut what can be a really fun time.

Battlefield 2042 is full of potential, but the problem with potential is that it doesn’t give you value right now. Battlefield 2042 can have moments of brilliance, but its inconsistency issues make those moments few and far between. At least for now.

Even with its stupendous technical section and its good sensations at the controls, the alarming lack of content and lack of polish in all areas weigh down a release that will have to be saved by its own community during its first months of life; however, its base is solid and has possibilities of redemption

Battlefield 2042 is a typical case of the whole package being greater than the sum of the parts. That is, despite having several lackluster elements, the overall package is good and deserves attention from fans. As positive highlights, we have great and beautiful visuals, as well as the variety of game modes, in particular the very interesting Portal. On the negative side, we have bugs in animations, bad matchmaking and lack of basic elements.

Battlefield 2042 provides a surprisingly complete multiplayer experience with a game mode for everybody. Although, with it’s countless number of bugs, mediocre map design and balance issues it also makes it a very difficult game to recommend especially at the current price. There is a fair amount of fun to be had with the game that might be improved in the next year or so.

Battlefield 2042 is an unpolished buggy mess that has kept my attention for days. It has its fair share of quirks, bugs, and performance issues that need to be fixed, but it really presents the player with something that can’t be found anywhere else in the FPS market. There’s nothing like loading into a game with 63 teammates as infantry, jets, tanks, helicopters all push the same objectives.

Battlefield 2042 is a game with some seriously lofty ambitions, because destruction and warfare on a scale we've never seen before is always going to grab the headlines. Unfortunately, more effort has gone into those jaw-dropping moments, like seeing huge buildings topple to the ground, than it has into making the game fun and balanced. There's a solid foundation here, but this entry needed a lot longer in the oven to iron out the main modes and provide some more variety into Hazard Zone, because the result is a real low point in the franchise.

Battlefield 2042 takes us to the near future where climate change and Kessler syndrome destroyed the world. It has no single-player mode, so you can only enjoy the online multiplayer. All-Out Warfare is very large and especially fun to play with friends. But Battlefield 2042 is pretty boring unless you decide to dive into Battlefield Portal and be surprised by the creativity of others or make something by yourself

The ingredients are there for quite possibly the best Battlefield experience to date, but several inconsistent design choices hold Battlefield 2042 back from getting there, at least at launch.

Battlefield 2042 is simply a catastrophe that desperately needs a rework. Hot candidate for the most disappointing game of the year.

While I did enjoy quite a lot of my time in Battlefield 2042 (especially in the new Hazard Zone mode), there are a mix of gameplay, technical, and functionality issues of varying severity that really hamper the experience. This game is somewhat recommendable to Battlefield fans and those with a general interest in military-style shooters, but there is a strong chance that the game’s current flaws are going to really limit the potential for many. Because of this, if you’re considering this game, you may want to wait for a patch or two before you deploy to the battlefield.
