LEGO Builder’s Journey is a well thought out puzzle game, with a wonderful art style. It is an absolute delight to play. It is aimed at all fans of LEGO but it has a really grown up puzzle feel to it too. I hope we see more of this style of game from the LEGO brand in future. Also with the LEGO in the game and not all over the floor (no, I didn’t do that as a child) you can’t step on those Lego pieces and leave a brick imprint on your foot.

The PC version of LEGO Builder's Journey is a great port that takes advantage of next-gen visual features to make a pretty game even prettier. Even if you don't have the best hardware to take advantage of its newfound beauty, Builder's Journey is a short little tale I highly recommend anyone to not skip out on.

If anything else, Lego Builder’s Journey proves that you don’t need to tie the Lego brand to a third-party license in order to craft a successful game. It shows that there are no limits to what you can create with the simple concept of building structures with bricks, just like how there are no limits to what we can build with these pieces of plastic in real life.

LEGO Builder's Journey is pretty much a straight port of the iOS game. It replicates the feeling of building LEGOs in a very impressive way and this is exactly what we were expecting. However, we wish the game had some bonus content now that it is on a more complex platform like the PC.

Lego Builder's Journey is a small but fun game to play. If you are looking for a puzzle game that will not be too tiring to distract your mind, I recommend you to try it.

A Builders Journey does a lot of things right throughout it’s short playtime, with gorgeously designed levels and imaginative puzzle design through to its themes of play and creativity – and the often unwanted responsibilities that can interrupt it. It doesn’t get everything right, but then it’s so short lived it’s hard not to be entirely charmed by it anyway. If you’re a fan of puzzle games or Lego in general, you can’t really go wrong here.

The Lego Builder’s Journey PS5 port keeps the whimsical charm of the base game, even if it’s not the best-looking or playing version of it.

LEGO Builder’s Journey is an experience I can’t help but recommend, both to fans of puzzle games and anyone who enjoys a slower, more thoughtful experience. Going into LEGO Builder’s Journey, I couldn’t help but wonder where the “Journey” element would come in. Having played it, however, I think it’s clear that the intent was to bring the player on a journey of emotion, something I can safely say was achieved. It may not resonate with everyone in the way in which it resonated with me, but I think that’s the beauty of it, as this is a game that is likely to mean many different things, to many different people. And, even if you’re a hardened soul who refuses to be moved by plastic bricks, it’s not a half-bad puzzle game to boot.

The first thought people tend to have with a LEGO title is an action-oriented romp you can casually enjoy on your own or, even better, with a friend...

Lego Builder's Journey presents a challenging and attractive puzzler that you'll keep coming back to although you won't be at it long as it'll be over well before you'd hope it would be. Plus, it lacks replay value and hints to help with the more unintuitive puzzles.

Straddling the line between art piece and puzzle game, LEGO Builder's Journey is an experience that focuses on the creativity of play above all else. Kids or adults, Builder's Journey is something that anyone can play. Everyone who does play will take away a slightly different experience.

However, the name LEGO also runs the risk of obscuring this quietly beautiful adventure, simply due to the type of game we'd generally associate with the brand. This is a wonderful game that is likely to hit a little deeper than you expect. If this represents a future direction for how LEGO treats their games, LEGO Builder's Journey is a sign of very good things to come.

Its challenging puzzles and fiddly controls make it something more suited to older players, but those of all ages will find delight in its colourful and downright charming visuals. If nothing else, it makes me keen to see what Light Brick Studio develops in the future. Like being presented with a bag of actual LEGO bricks, there are many opportunities to be explored by a bunch of open-minded creatives.

And that's because the animation layer that sits on top of the rendering has the air of a high quality stop-motion animated feature.

Given the price this is sitting at… I don’t know if I can really recommend it. I really need to qualify that though because I think it is absolutely a worthwhile experience, it’s fantastic story telling with stunning visuals. But that about 2 hours I mentioned at the start… that wasn’t just to get a feel for the game… that was to complete the game, from start to finish… about 2 hours. So at this point I’d only really recommend buying the game if it’s on special or if they do in fact add more content (I really hope they do because I’d love to spend more time in this world).

LEGO Builder's Journey is a spectacular, absolutely gorgeous puzzle-platformer, with a surprisingly touching story the explores parenthood and creativity in a delightfully minimalist way. Stunning aesthetics enhanced by ray-tracing and DLSS combine with a soundtrack that amounts to one of the most beautiful games in recent memory. A little more commitment to the possibilities afforded by interlocking bricks would have completed the picture, but regardless is remains a game not to be missed by fans of LEGO, puzzles and a good, wholesome narrative.

All that said, I'm not docking points for the length-to-price ratio. I maintain that Lego Builder's Journey is a fantastic title on Nintendo Switch. Between the look and the feel, this game comes as close to capturing the joy of playing with Lego as you can get without a full VR rig. It also weaves a compelling story through gameplay and motion, all without dialogue. I highly recommend playing it if you can, even if that means waiting for a sale.

Throughout LEGO Builder's Journey, we found that the aim of the game was to make you feel like a kid - whether or not you are one. Getting back in touch with the pre-manual-following version of yourself is a delight, and having the story be about a parent and a child connecting through child's play is as touching as it is smart. Despite occasional misfires and what can feel like padding, this is a LEGO game which plays with the fundamental philosophy of creativity far more than the average LEGO-branded title, and we hope this is an indication of new games to come.
