Such rumblings invoke a greater discussion on whether a sequel should be made with the same or different mini-games, or if this title could now act as a platform for the series. It's a tricky issue, that I don't envy the creators having to face, but the fact of the matter is that NDCube has set a bar for themselves now that they absolutely cannot afford to go under. Whether they continue to remake older, beloved experiences, or take this success as an experience to apply to new, original content, they have won me over with this Mario Party. I suspect this get-together is one for the books.

There is also an online mode now as well as the ability to play locally with multiple consoles. The fact that none of the games require motion control means that any controller will work, including the clearly superior Pro Controller. I had a ton of fun playing this with my family and it is easy to recommend for just about anyone. Here is to another generation of gamers getting simultaneously angry and overjoyed at the divisive Mario Party series.
If you can appreciate this one for what it is - a polished, fleshed-out homage to Golden Era-Mario Party - then this gem really shines.
There are plenty of mini-games here, and they're all fast, and most importantly, fun. There's nothing new here outside of a working online multiplayer, but for fans of the series, that's probably all that's needed anyway.
All in all, Mario Party Superstars is not a perfect game, but it is a very good one and certainly remains king on the throne of party games. Certainly there are things that can and should be improved here and there, but overall the title cuts a good, rock-solid figure and has sparked great hope in a possible next installment of the series, at least in me. Finally NDcube has rediscovered the way to the successful concept of Mario Party. The whole thing next with entirely new mini-games, boards and a larger selection of characters and minor adjustments to the luck factor, lets me look into a rosy future!

Mario Party Superstars is a return to the format that worked best for the series. It brings together some of the very best mini-games over the years on five of the series' most iconic game boards. But best of all – it opens up games no matter what control you may have at home. A must for game meetings in the company of good friends.

Mario Party is one of those series that has stood the test of time, ever since its introduction on the N64 back in 1998/1999 (depending on where in the world you were). With several different games on each respective system, it has entertained gamers for over 20 years now. So with the Switch being in its fifth year on the market, it is time for another new entry of the iconic series. How does Mario Party Superstars compare to the previous game, Super Mario Party, on the Switch? And is this the return to form that fans of the series have been clamoring for? Let’s roll the dice and find out the result.
Hopefully this will set the tone for future installments dropping the unnecessary gimmicks and sticking to what fans love most: minigames, “unfair” dice rolls and new enemies that at the beginning of the game were close friends.
Mario Party Superstars takes the successes of its predecessor games and modernizes them into a game that you can take anywhere and play with anyone you want. The fact that these games don't require motion controls allows you to play even on a Nintendo Switch Lite without any problems. If you are the number one fan of co-op fun games, then this game is a great choice!

For better or worse, Mario Party Superstars delivers on its promise of bringing the best elements of the classic era of Mario Party to vivid life on the Switch, though even with a variety of gameplay styles and customization options, the formula is showing its age, and the loose combination of RNG and skill-based gameplay won’t be for everyone.
If you’ve never played a Mario Party game before, this is the perfect jumping on point – celebrating the best the series has to offer. And even if you’re not, there’s no better collection and assortment out there than Mario Party Superstars. A perfect party game that’s accessible to everyone.
Thanks to its modern treatment of previous Mario Party boards, as well as a slick gameplay experience and an ease of access that makes it simple for everyone to enjoy, Mario Party Superstars is one of the finest party games in the modern era, and a gorgeous-looking effort too.

Combining some of the best mini games, board games and mechanics in the series, alongside pertinent quality of life improvements, a surprisingly competent online multiplayer system and an audiovisual makeover, Mario Party Superstars stands out quite positively from the last decades' titles of the series. In fact, we could consider that the only significant disappointment is in regards to the unsatisfactory amount of boards included. Despite this, the quality of the content covered makes this compilation not only one of the best games in the series, but also one of Switch's most fun and addictive party games.

Mario Party Superstars is the strongest outing for the long-running franchise since at least the early GameCube days. It doesn't take many risks and admittedly lacks imagination, but this party leans on nostalgia and understands why these games are so popular among longtime fans. It's a well-executed and highly enjoyable return to the series' roots while remaining largely accessible to first-time players.
So while Mario Party Superstars doesn’t necessarily break massively new ground, it’s so good at replaying the classics that it will probably be my new go-to for Mario Party fun moving forward. It isn’t just the Nintendo 64 nostalgia talking here; this is a good collection of minigames, a smart board selection, a nice-looking game, and it’s got tons of settings, dials, and options to fiddle with for repeat play sessions. It might not be filled with new ideas, but Mario Party Superstars plays the hits, and plays them as well as it did the first time around.
