New World is a fun, solid MMORPG packed with plenty of enjoyable content that will keep players busy for a long, long time. Sure, it might have some imperfections, but I’m hopeful that the game will address all of those as it continues to grow—and I look forward to being a part of its community while it does.

New World could be presented as a gateway to MMOs (“My First MMO,” if you will). The simplistic combat may entice those who have been overwhelmed by the busy hotbars of games like Final Fantasy XIV. The many allusions to survival games also provide an easy way to integrate those new to the genre. But I don’t believe everything on offer here is going to pull anyone away from the titan MMOs still holding their thrones. New World is at its best when you wander into the dense forests and toil away endlessly with the (arguably therapeutic) gathering portion of the game. Those pork chops and apple sauce meals won’t cook themselves, after all.

New World is a rare MMORPG that can properly immerse itself in the 'role play', the essence of RPG. However, too poor PVE content, low-capacity servers, and mistakes in live services compared to well-designed PVP systems make the game overshadow its advantages.

New World has everything to be one of the big MMOs of this generation if Amazon continues to give it good support in the coming years. The waiting lines and full servers during launch indicate a promising success to the title. Its good graphics made on the Amazon Lumberyard engine, its austere soundtrack and excellent sound mixing, along with a fluid gameplay, interesting combat and easy-to-understand mechanics, create and immersive and lasting experience, despite its issues when it comes to movement and going through long distances. If the amount of players stays high, it's very likely for many updates and expansions to be released in the future.

For me I have absolutely enjoyed myself so far, even traveling across the map to just die and start your quest over again has been fun. Each time just leveling your char that little bit more to enable you to reign supreme. I could also quite as easily lose myself constantly chopping the trees and harvesting berries, the little escape from the battle can be sometimes quite calming.Obviously, the game is new, the game is not perfect. I think when we revisit New World again after a few bug fixes and updates it would score higher than where I have put it on the board. I award New World a Thumb Culture Gold Award.

New World can be described as a work in progress, one that is of very high quality, with the core game's mechanics being in place and ready to take the brunt of a top-tier title, but there is still not enough meat on the figurative bones.
