The Quarry is trying to be a better until dawn and in some ways it is. It's an intense cinematic horror experience with gorgeous graphics and a great cast of actors and definitely worth playing but the slow and inconsistent story telling, cringey dialogue writing and limited gameplay interaction compare to until down, holds this game back from becoming a great experience.

The Quarry features arguably the best writing and cast that Supermassive Games have ever put together, along with some impressive quality visuals in certain spots. However, the gameplay formula lacks improvements and is starting to grow stale. This horror adventure should satisfy fans, but it's time for the developers to aim higher.

For the uninitiated, though, and there will be many on non-Sony platforms, The Quarry will deliver a memorable tale of horror full of intense moments that are wicked fun to navigate through.

The Quarry is still filled to the brim with thrills, tough choices, and brutal deaths. Unfortunately, it still suffers from the same pitfalls that have plagued past titles. It's worsened by poorly written character relationships and a rather unsatisfying ending.

As a horror-themed game driven by your decision, The Quarry delivers a memorable experience with a cinematic look and feel, even if it often leans too much on tropes and cringe for its own good.

The Quarry is the spiritual heir of Until Dawn: from the exclusive PlayStation of 2015 Supermassive Games takes up various themes, above all the ingenuity and cloying of the adolescent world, exploiting them as a starting point to tell a visceral horror, buried under an ancient mythology and to be discovered.

As cringy as the characters and plot make it out to be, The Quarry is a lot of fun and is really the perfect summer game, whether you choose to play it alone in the dark or in the company of others looking to waste some time.

The Quarry brings Supermassive's standard quality in a shot across the bow of what it captures in horror movies. There are plenty of decisions for us to build our narrative, and while they could be more concrete, they give us chances to get back on track. A short adventure but full of captivating moments.

The Quarry manages to, after all these years, harness the things that made Until Dawn a classic and replicate that feeling almost perfectly. Besides a few story hiccups in the last act, these characters and performances are going to keep you and your friends' eyes glued to the screen all night long.

The Quarry is a fantastic adventure title as well as a cinematic marvel. It'll make you jump and squeal as you uncover the mysteries of Hacketts Quarry. With excellent QTEs and brilliant characters, you'll love every second of this creepy title.

The Quarry is a charming and surprisingly intimate horror story that creates real stakes and successfully does away with the idea of plot armor. Although it has some annoying or even frustrating quirks, it's a worthy successor to a game like Until Dawn and highlights Supermassive Games as masters of their craft.

The Quarry is a narrative adventure in which the most enjoyable part is watching a bunch of hormone-addled teenagers die amidst terrible suffering.

The Quarry provides plenty of scares with its engaging narrative, pristine graphics and superb acting from top Hollywood talent. The excellent licensed soundtrack also helps make this such a memorable experience. I appreciate the multiplayer options and accessibility features as well, which broadens the appeal and lets you control the game's intensity. It's too bad there's no New Game Plus and the story does stray too closely to Until Dawn, but neither downside means you should steer away. This is a high-quality interactive drama that absolutely deserves your time if you're a fan of the genre.

The Quarry is the Supermassive game I've been looking for since Until Dawn. It is well-paced, well-told, and - most importantly - genuinely spooky. Some odd characterisations and inconsistent graphics let it down slightly, but this is the most fun I've had with a game like this in some time.

It feels so exciting that after seven long years (and a collection of middling to decent entries in the Dark Anthology series), Supermassive has created something that surpasses the game that put them on the map all those years ago. The Quarry is a loveable achievement – whip-smart, beautiful, and more than willing to pull the rug out and blindside you in the way the great horror often does, all while paying tribute to icons of the genre.

The Quarry is undoubtedly the best work yet by Supermassive Games, both in terms of gameplay and of plot ramifications and technical department. An enthralling experience that knows how to keep the fans of the genre happy, even if it suffers from a not so bold plot (especially on the horror side) and the temporary absence of an online multiplayer component. Yet, it's a title that every fan should consider for their collection.

I had a blast playing The Quarry, and it was unfortunate that you see more of the cracks during your second or third run of the game. There isn’t anything groundbreaking in The Quarry if you’ve played Until Dawn or any of the Dark Anthology games, but Supermassive games definitely delivered the best and most accessible version of the formula they are known for, and if you’re a horror fan, you’ll appreciate this one night in Hackett’s Quarry.

The Quarry isn't perfect due to some technical flaws and quick time events that are too easy. Nevertheless, The Quarry is a joy to play thanks to a great story and a fantastic cast of characters. This is a must-play for everyone that enjoys a good horror story.

The Quarry is not a huge game-changer in the genre, but it's a well-made one and is a big step up. It's definitely worth a purchase as long as you know what you're going into.

The Quarry is simply a perfect return to a horror atmosphere that Supermassive knows how to do so well. It's by no means a revolutionary masterpiece, it still has some historical flaws for the studio, but it's a well-executed homage to a horror genre that still has weapons to show, if used wisely. It was not an easy task, but The Quarry managed to give us an unforgettable stay in the woods, with plenty of choices to go through and relive over and over again to delve into its well-hidden mystery.
