You should not pass up the opportunity to play this game

Gotham Knights was for me a very enjoyable adventure despite some flaws and one that I think DC fans will enjoy if they are patient and willing to overlook some of the shortcomings of the game to focus on the things it does well.

Gotham Knights deliver one of the best co-op experiences, but technical glitches and the finale pull the recommendation down slightly. The possibility of cooperation is not just a bonus but is one of the game's fundamental building blocks. However, that doesn't mean you won't enjoy the game if you play it alone. So we can recommend Gotham Knights with 7 points out of 10.

Gotham Knights is a game with cool combat, the possibility of stealth gameplay and detective work. It's a typical Batman universe game. The only downside is that the game doesn't have a performance mode. However, this does not make the game unplayable.

I’ve had a spiffing time. I’ve loved perching on gargoyles, sneaking up on enemies, shooting them in the face with Red Hood’s guns, meeting the Court of Owls and prowling around their hidden abodes. I’ve loved all the different suits and filling out the skill trees. I’ve loved Alfred and his fatherly advice and the family’s grief for Bruce. I’ve loved adjusting to evading instead of countering. I’ve loved the villains and the humour. I’ve loved trying to work out which hero is best and which to take with me on particular missions. Gotham Knights is a GOOD game and while it does deserve a decent helping of criticism it also deserves a lot of praise.

Gotham Knights is a story-rich open-world RPG. Furthermore, it wonderfully captures the grim and seedy nature of Gotham City. Batman has died, so 4 DC superheroes must fill the void. By exploring the vast open landscape, you'll stop crime, solve problems, and avenge Batman's demise.

The RPG elements doesn’t quite mix with the more straight-forward nature of superheroic adventures in a satisfying way and although the story starts with a great and shocking moment, it can’t always get the tone right and fumbles some of the important twists and dramatic beats. Gotham Knights had the potential to be a very different and even revolutionary title in the sea of superhero games but in the end it is just a mildly entertaining one.

A worthwhile entry into the DC/Batman game series, Gotham Knights can be a fun experience in single-player or co-op with its strengths lying in variety and its four-Knight team. However, its confusing UI, repetitive stripped-back combat, and lack of stealth options leave it unable to reach the glorious heights of the Arkham games.

While Gotham Knight did a much better job than I expected, it's a slightly above average game with a weak open world and not indistinguishably different playable characters.

Gotham Knights is a game that feels at odds with itself, wanting to dip its toes into so many things without fully committing itself to one thing or another.

"Gotham Knights is an excellent action experience when it is firing on all cylinders. However, the risk of the engine stalling and the game stuttering to a halt might be too much for all but the most devoted fans."

Gotham Knights doesn't do much to set itself apart from its competitors. Besides the setting, the game has the same pros and cons as a game of its genre.

Gotham Knights' insistence on being a modern open world RPG leads to some gameplay issues and painfully generic mechanics, but there's a lot of fun to be had here nonetheless, and an engaging story to experience. It may not be Arkham, but it's good enough in its own right.

Gotham Knights has its moments of brilliance and fun, but never manages to step out of Batman’s looming shadow. These knights are more than sidekicks, they just aren’t heroes quite yet.

You can’t deny Gotham Knights is a spectacle, provides high octane action, and an interesting storyline. It doesn’t work great all the way through, but not every game has to be a complex, mindblowing experience. Sometimes accessibility is where all the fun is.

Gotham Knights isn't very ambitious and has performance issues, but it should still please Batman fans.

Gotham Knights has a few interesting things going on. It’s just not enough to elevate it to the level of previous Batman games. Now, sure, technically speaking, this isn’t truly a Batman game, as the focus is on his legacy of proteges. But the Arkham series of games has elevated expectations quite high, and while Gotham Knights didn’t hit them, it has moments where it does feel like something interesting is brewing. With more to do in the city, and an easier method of switching characters, perhaps this could be the start of something greater.

Gotham Knights' situation as a game aptly reflects the struggle of its protagonists — the new team has big boots to fill now Bats is gone, and while they can't quite live up to his legacy, they still manage to make an impression by doing things their own way. Combat is decent once it opens up, and traversal and the overarching gameplay loop are both great, but it's a shame that Gotham Knights' performance leaves a lot to be desired.
