And to think how many ridiculed the comment that Gotham Knights was enjoyable. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League doesn't quite tarnish an excellent track record for Rocksteady in comic-book tie-ins, but it tries its hardest to. With a bland repetitive genre choice nobody wanted and a barely passable gameplay mechanic, the best advice to give is to wait for the cutscenes to be bundled together and watch a mildly enjoyable story without the hassle of a game ruining it.

Between an insanely tedious gameplay loop, inferior writing, avaricious scheming, and more, Suicide Squad ranks among the most villainous & disreputable live-service games.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is a cookie-cutter live service that feels like a chore to play thanks to bloated and repetitive missions, half-baked objectives, and an uninspired story that stops trying halfway through. Outside of solid animations and voice acting, there’s little to enjoy in this forgettable title from WB. It’s a bland experience that’s mediocre at best and a grueling slog at its worst. With so little soul here, I doubt people will remember it well enough to put it on their ‘Worst Games of 2024’ lists.

Perhaps the most baffling fact is that it took Rocksteady, a famed developer whose past games are considered undeniable classics that are being played to this day, took nine years to make a game that falls abysmally short of the studio's own high standards. Suicide Squad isn't a terrible game — some of the negative attention could perhaps be attributed to marketing misfires, and some of the criticism is perhaps too harsh, even if not unwarranted. But it constantly pales in comparison to Rocksteady's Batman: Arkham games in every aspect that matters. There are seeds of ideas, systems, and story here that could have delivered a legitimately fun and distinctly unique shooter. But as the self-destructive game that it chooses to be, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League only shoots itself in the foot.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is the worst kind of AAA game. It was clearly mandated from higher-ups. It’s incredibly obvious that this was not what Rocksteady wanted to do, as this game, like other lame AAA live services before it (Redfall comes to mind), feels uninspired, unfocused. What’s worse, Rocksteady really tried to come up with some good things, such as Deadshot’s admittedly fun combat mechanics. Sadly, for every good thing they were able to deliver, there are two or three other elements that bring the game down several notches.

The main problem is the central idea of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice which is trapped in a cold world and with highly repetitive missions.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is trying its hardest, but it comes off as a messy science project dressed up to look pretty, and we all know it doesn’t really do what it needs to. Sadly, a lot more polish is needed if there’s going to be hope of this release lasting longer than a year as a live-service title because, as we all know, they’re usually driven by the fans and a constant stream of income from microtransactions… Though there’s already a scarcity of pre-teens with a ton of money to burn, only time will tell.

Kill the Justice League is the epitome of, “it gets good X hours in.” It’ll suck at first, then it’ll show you it’s capable of at least some moments of awesomeness. Fans of the DC universe may find a little more value in it, especially if you value narrative over gameplay, but Rocksteady’s latest is simply okay – nothing more or less.

After almost a decade of waiting Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League turned out to be a far cry from anything most of the fans of Rocksteady Studios would have wanted. And seeing the current playerbase the game has, it's hard to tell if we even ever see where this whole story was planned to go.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League drips with potential but never lives up to the Rocksteady pedigree. I had fun with its story, at times being genuinely left on the edge of my seat with what could happen next. Most of the performances – Kevin Conroy being the best of the bunch – also kept me engaged and entertained with the narrative. But the endlessly unambitious gameplay loop grates on me like nails on a chalkboard. Envisioning this as a live-service game with years of life ahead of it is impossible. It’ll be interesting to see if Rocksteady can ever make Suicide Squad feel more entertaining than a bullet to the head.

Suicide Squad is not the disaster that we were afraid of. But in the other hand, it's not a good game because its many flaws. The storytelling is good enough and the characters are excellent, especially Harley Quinn. There is definitely a sense of humour, the combat part offers a crisp feel like the parkour. But the game as a service structure is a huge problem.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is a contradictory game: it has a good narrative and a great gameplay, but all is cancelled by a live service structure that limits its depth and variety. The game is worth for the fans only for the main campaign.

I did have fun with Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, but I finished the story a little relieved and exhausted, and I wasn't compelled to engage in endgame stuff because it was essentially more repetitive, conditional missions. I'd had my fill by then. I enjoyed the character and personality of the game - the banter among Task Force X is truly enjoyable, so kudos to all of the voice actors involved - and also the world that was built. Action-wise, the game gave me Crackdown vibes as I hurtled around the city and dove into its chaos. Unfortunately, it also had Crackdown depth to the point where I eventually got bored and irritated. I was not irritated enough, however, that I wish I had a bomb in my head.

A repetitive and dull gameplay loop that's thematically allergic to the game's cast of misfits only begins to describe how heartbreakingly disappointing Kill the Justice League truly is. Rocksteady should've died a hero, instead, it's lived long enough to see itself become the villain.

Taken individually there are some aspects to Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League that are enjoyable. The problem is that cloning the same few basic gameplay mechanics seen in most live service games creates a negative overall experience. As a result, even if playing alongside your friends as a full party, you will feel like participating in a chores marathon.

While Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League is a game that fans of the genre can consider, they can wait for patches and add-ons to be released or even discounted to buy them. In its current form, it is a production that does not go much beyond offering a few hours of fun experience. If your expectations are high for this game, you will be a little disappointed.

Goodbye Gotham, hello Metropolis. Rocksteady Studios has returned with a very explosive game where the gameplay shines. Although the story of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League fails to live up to the hype, players will enjoy some very charismatic villains and combat full of color, chaos and humor.

After a long wait, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League finally came out, bringing an excellent story, competent audiovisual production, and solid gameplay. The issue is that the short campaign is followed by repetitive challenges and the game's mechanics are relatively simple. The experience is worth it for fans of the looter shooter genre and the DC universe but only with updates and relevant new additions will it be a good recommendation for the general public.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is full of potential. The game is a blast to play. The story is one of the best in a video game in a while, and there is a lot here for those that enjoy looter shooters. This almost feels like two games in one. I loved the campaign, but had little interest in the end game, while others will likely breeze through the story just to grind. I hope they continue the flow of content for both audiences because I would love to revisit it down the line. Also patch in that offline mode ASAP. Being mid boss fight for the server to disconnect is a huge bummer and makes me not want to play.
