All in all, Killer Frequency is a clever slasher puzzler that is well worth the time. Horror fans will get a lot out of its knowledge of the genre as a whole, and its fresh take on telling a slasher story means that even within its tropes there's still something to find. It doesn't always land, and the Switch version does have the odd issue, but Killer Frequency is bloody good fun.

A "radio" horror game in full 80s style. As a DJ you will have to follow the tracks of an elusive serial killer, trying to save his next potential victims and put together the pieces of an impossible puzzle. All while remaining seated at your console... or almost! Brilliant with some minor flaws and multiple endings to lengthen an otherwise poor longevity.

Killer Frequency is a refreshing puzzle adventure under the guise of an 80s slasher flick. Its flirtation with real-time life-or-death decision-making serves to keep it an interesting and varied horror experience.

Despite our complaints, though, Killer Frequency is lifted by its daft charm. It's an intriguing, unorthodox murder mystery that fans of narrative-driven games will certainly enjoy — it just needed a little bit more tuning.

Most radio shows have a clear and compelling sense of identity—some sort of distinguishing characteristic that they commit to. That certainly applies to Killer Frequency itself, as it’s a stylishly campy ode to ’80s slashers that’s as unpredictable as it is breezily entertaining. Which isn’t to say that it’s a featherweight experience. The game, after all, touches on the almost sycophantic relationship between a killer who wouldn’t be as feared without news coverage and a show which would have far fewer listeners without relaying said coverage. In all, Killer Frequency is an accessible, relatable adventure that won’t leave you wanting to touch that dial.

With a truly unique concept that's different from any other horror game out there, Killer Frequency mixes just the right amount of campy thrills to keep its serial killer narrative moving along swiftly. As you're saving civilians using clues around the radio station while cracking jokes and enjoying some retro-inspired tracks, it's hard not to get invested in the story and setting, especially as it features such strong performances from its wacky cast. The pace can be slow at times, but the twists and turns kept me eager to speak with every new caller. You can trust me as a seasoned producer and presenter: this is one radio program worth tuning in for.

Pairing 80s camp and sharp writing with meaningful subtext in its game design, Killer Frequency carves out a special place among modern horror titles.

Would I recommend Killer Frequency? Yep… even if you aren't really a horror fan (like me)… this isn't really the adrenaline pumping stuff… it's far more the "horror comedy" style and those semi cartoon style visuals do help take some of the edge off the tension. It's not a bad price but replay value isn't super high (unless you want to mess with the callers and find out what their fate is like if you choose different options). A fun game with an interesting style, grab it if you like your puzzle solving with some retro radio vibes.

This game is good, but you have to understand that it's not an action-packed title, it's more finite information gathering, a kind of call centre simulation, with quick time events that determine the fate of the helpless prey.

Killer Frequency is a good narrative experience with some decent gameplay ideas. The story of the Whistling Man and his killing spree seems very familiar at first but benefits from nice twists and turns that actually pack emotional power. There’s not much depth to any of the mechanics but they add a lot of interactivity and give players opportunities to learn more about the universe of Gallows Creek.

Killer Frequency turned out to be a far more interesting product than anticipated. Fascinated initially by the concept but doubtful about the inherent limitations of the chosen formula, the Team17 title nevertheless enraptured us and dragged us in front of the microphones of a mid-west American radio station inside an 80s story somewhere between comedy and horror. Between one homage to a cinematic masterpiece and another, the adventure flows quickly between interesting puzzles and a constant invitation to use your gray matter to save as many lives as possible. It's a title destined to become a small cult hit, as long as you don't expect to wield a weapon and confront the serial killer face-to-face. It wounds more with a pen than a sword, after all.

Killer Frequency takes the slasher genre and adapts it to a great game without using cheap scares, but instead focusing on the human side instead of the Bloody one. Its mechanics could be more deep but the whole idea of a DJ trying to save as much people as possible is simply fantastic and accomplishes a great balance between tense situations and some slapstick comedy.

Killer Frequency is an excellent game that takes a neat approach to both horror films and walking simulators, and it’s well worth checking out if you’re a fan of either. (But seriously, how did these people all have cell phones?)

Killer Instinct is a good use of your gaming time.  It is well-written, nicely voice-acted, fairly short, and can be seriously creepy at times.  Fans of slasher films will have a blast playing this.  While I think it would probably be best experienced in VR, it is worth experiencing on a console.

Killer Frequency mixes elements that are beloved in pop culture, such as the 1980s aesthetic, signature songs, masked killers, investigative plot and heavy humor. All elements come together to transform a simple indie into one of my best video game experiences of the year. For fans of slasher horror movies or investigative works like those of Agatha Christie, this title is a door to paradise.

Killer Frequency is another success that Team17 can add to their list of titles, from a storyline filled with twists and amazing voice acting to keep you locked into the story. There is always something to do within KFAM’S studio, whether you hunt down killer records to add to your collection or just spend a few minutes trying to make that perfect shot.

Killer Frequency has a cool, unique concept that matches up together surprisingly well and is led by a cast of engaging, interesting characters who gel beautifully. The scenarios you work through are smart and clever, there’s a great soundtrack to play through, and the plot and gradual exploration of your station keeps you invested. A padded conclusion, and some clashes with VR and flat through interactivity and navigation do hold this back a bit, but this was still a great trip that we were glad to take.
