The little story of Pinocchio offers a rich canvas for exploring far beyond the original tale. Round 8 Studio and NEOWIZ have succeeded brilliantly. Without revolutionizing the genre, they have made Lies of P a game of the highest quality. The combat is excellent, the world is varied and exciting to explore, and the story, though simple, is perfectly executed. In short, among all that's available in the genre, Lies of P is one of the best propositions. And for a Soulslike fan like me, that's excellent news!

Lies of P draws heavily from the Soulsborne formula, but gradually carves out its own identity through impactful combat, tactical upgrades, and a steadily growing sense of power. While the game initially falls a bit short, it evolves into a rewarding and meaningful experience that mirrors its protagonist's journey, and is well worth your time.

"Lies of P" doesn't reinvent the wheel, but after years of soulslike games, few have truly dared to do so successfully. Despite its inherently derivative nature, Neowiz’s title stands as a solid and well-executed entry into the genre, thanks largely to its original setting and the intriguing inspiration from Collodi’s work. This mechanical Pinocchio’s journey brings fresh, well-placed ideas that will delight fans. In the end, it’s a carefully crafted soulslike that, even without groundbreaking innovations, delivers an engaging and enjoyable experience on par with the best in its class.

The puppet who dreamed of becoming a real boy gave rise to one of the most notable soulslikes in the genre, which, two years after its release, still enjoys remarkable popularity.

In short, Lies of P we can say that it is in the conversation if it is one of the deserving to be on the throne of the Souslike genre. Like everything in life, it will always be a matter of taste, but there is no doubt that it is a very valid option to defend that title. With the new DLC just around the corner, nothing better than to reminisce about this great game and who knows if it will encourage someone to try it or even replay it. A dark and twisted vision that mixes Hayao Miyazaki, Isaac Asimov, and Fables into a spellbinding whole, Lies of P won't set the world on fire with its clumsy gameplay mechanics, but the atmosphere and story are second to none.

If you had told me that one of my favourite games this year would be a videogame about a souslike Pinocchio, I would’ve told you that you would be dreaming. Lies of P scratches the itch that is a Dark Souls experience that’s as close as you will ever get to the original. The story draws you in as familiar characters come back to life in a gothic inspired world, but it’s the fantastic soulslike gameplay that made me come back for more. Just one more turn, one more checkpoint.

Lies of P may not be as grand as Elden Ring or as challenging as Sekiro but it sets itself apart with its unusual depiction of Pinocchio. A gameplay combination of dodging and parrying makes it feel fast paced and the game does a good job of keeping you on your toes.

Without wasting any unnecessary words, Lies of P is a true gem. Round8 Studio's work is a title that while inspired by the greats of this now hallowed action-rpg sub-genre, manages to stand out thanks to so many small ludic and non-ludic details, including a fabulous reimagining of Carlo Collodi's classic. Accompanied by a play system that demands commitment but at the same time layered in its balance, all gamers should experience this great adventure.

Lies of P is as slick and well-done as it is dark and mysterious. With weighty combat, cool weapons and tools, and some exquisite - though very creepy - enemy design, it’ll scratch the ‘souls’ itch for many, despite a few blemishes.

In the horrifying city of Krat, the puppets that were once at the service of humanity have transformed into killing machines, while a mysterious evil transforms people, devastates and kills. Puppet P is special, as he has the ability to lie: what growth path will he face? What mysteries do the intelligent Geppetto, the enterprising Venigni, the mysterious Sophia and the other citizens of Krat hide? In this reinterpretation of Collodi's classic, the mechanics of souls like are taken up with great effectiveness, while the more original elements remain in the background, not entirely successful. Lies of P remains a very solid action in terms of technical aspects and artistic creation, a "must have" for lovers of the genre.

Even if you're not a die-hard Souls-like fan, Lies of P has something to offer. It boasts content that's distinct from the game and, in my opinion, ranks among the best Souls-like titles to date. It can even hold its own against the mainline FromSoftware titles. So, if you're prepared to navigate the city of Krat with a web of lies and refine your abilities to confront the twisted, plague-infested remnants of the world

In Lies of P, South Korean studio Neowiz Games managed to nail both the formula and the feeling of the From Software’s classic, creating one of the best Soulsbornes in recent history. Not only did they succeed in cloning the core of the Bloodborne experience, but they poured their own magic into the mold and cast something unique.
