Beyond Good & Evil – 20th Anniversary Edition is a tribute to the enduring appeal of a game that has left a significant mark on the action-adventure genre. While the remastered 4K graphics may not be as striking due to the game’s unique art style, the improved performance at 60FPS is a welcome enhancement. Coupled with a captivating story and thoughtful new additions like the speedrun mode, updated achievements, and the anniversary gallery, this edition is a fitting tribute to a beloved classic.
Beyond Good & Evil: 20th Anniversary Edition is an excellent re-release of one of the best games of the noughties, with the entertaining gameplay loop standing the test of time and the fancy new bells and whistles ensuring it hits a modern standard. It does show its age here and there (the insta-fail stealth sections and occasionally fiddly camera stand out as the worst offenders), but it’s impressive just how well everything manages to hold up. Add to that the cool new content that has come with the game and it’ll be easy to see that this is the best way to experience this beloved cult classic. Now… where’s Beyond Good & Evil 2?!
A mere remaster can't hide all the foibles of a 20-year-old game, but this is a well-crafted tribute to a classic PlayStation 2 era game, that has long deserved a proper sequel.
Beyond Good & Evil: 20th Anniversary Edition is a remaster that few asked for, but it offers good technical improvements, adds new content and brings us a little closer to Beyond Good & Evil 2. If you have never played it you should give it a try and if you did, it never hurts to enjoy it again if you are a fan of the saga.

Beyond Good & Evil 20th Anniversary really is the best way to play this classic cult title, bringing it up to date in terms of controls, resolutions and more. The underlying game may show its age at times, especially during the enforced stealth sections, but there is so much charm and character here that it deserves a whole new audience.
Beyond Good & Evil: 20th Anniversary Edition takes one of Michel Ancel's best works and recaptures its multi-genre format at a very different time in gaming. Pure early millennium action in a great adventure that mixes mechanics to still feel as fresh and as powerful as it did almost 21 years ago. Ubisoft sets the stage for Beyond Good and Evil 2 with a powerful gallery full of content, a new Speed Run mode and a new mission in the final stretch that better explains the story of Jade and her nature.

Beyond Good & Evil - 20th Anniversary Edition is a great version of a genuinely wonderful game that truly does the original release justice.
Beyond Good & Evil is an absolute classic, and the 20th Anniversary Edition makes it easier than ever to appreciate why. The characters are endearing, the visuals are mostly amazing, the music is incredible, and the gameplay is a ton of fun on top of all that. If this is your first time stepping into Jade's sneakers or your 20th, now has never been a better time to explore the beauty of Hillys.
Beyond Good and Evil turns 20 and returns to our screens with the inevitable signs of time, which however have not totally spoiled the freshness of its gameplay, a still valid story and a cast among the best ever created by Ubisoft.

A bona fide classic remastered with love and care. This edition brings smooth visuals, a beautifully recreated musical score, and well-presented supplemental materials. It certainly shows its age, but like all great art, Beyond Good & Evil weathers the test of time with grace.
Nintendo has been getting heat for the pricing of its recent Switch remasters, so to see Ubisoft's Beyond Good & Evil so lovingly restored for a reasonable price is a true joy. The 20th Anniversary Edition boasts some lovely visual and auditory upgrades, an excellent gallery feature, and a whole bunch of meaningful extras that make this journey back into Hillys well worth taking. Granted, the 30fps performance on Switch is a bit of a bummer compared to other platforms, and there's no denying that the experience has aged considerably in certain areas, but the gameplay is so varied, and the world so unique, that you'd be remiss not to at least give it a shot. Welcome back, 'Yade'.
Beyond Good & Evil's 20th Anniversary Edition does a commendable job of freshening up an experience that had long aged out of its must-play status. Enhanced visuals that don't dull the original charm, welcome quality-of-life and control improvements and a nice smattering of extra content go a long way to making this a worthwhile revisit to Hillys.
Beyond Good and Evil 20th Anniversary Edition is a great way to replay a beloved classic, and an even better one to experience it for the first time.
Beyond Good & Evil 20th Anniversary Edition is not only the definitive version of Jade's adventure, but an example of how remasters of games from that era can feature relevant improvements and add extras to celebrate the historical legacy of these works. Some more dragged aspects have not aged very well and remind us of the age of the game, but the charisma of the adventure and the good use of the opening of the compact world still make it deserve this well-cared for return.

It's true that the game has aged in many ways, but the positives far outweigh the negatives.

With the 20th Anniversary Edition, Ubisoft has clearly put more effort into it than just a graphical update. Some new missions have been added to unravel Jade's past, all as an introduction to Beyond Good & Evil 2. A speed-run mode has also been added to make the whole package even more complete. Despite its age, Beyond Good & Evil remains a worthwhile experience in 2024. Jade is still a great protagonist and the world of Hillys is unique to explore. The game focuses more on exploration than combat. Design, music and good writing together create an atmospheric experience where it doesn't really matter that the rest feels outdated. This remaster of Beyond Good & Evil is highly recommended for both new and old players. It is also refreshing to play a game where the gameplay is much more straightforward instead of all kinds of vague battle passes, microtransactions and difficult systems. For just €20 you can get this cult classic for modern systems, a no-brainer in our opinion. Let's hope that more information will follow soon about the successor.

It’s clear that a lot of love and care has gone into Beyond Good & Evil – 20th Anniversary Edition. The graphics and soundtrack have had a full overhaul, and some much needed QoL improvements make the playing experience far more enjoyable. The inclusion of the treasure hunt that delves more into Jade’s past make me hopeful that we’ll finally get Beyond Good & Evil 2 someday, but I’ll temper my expectations until it’s confirmed.
