'Funko Fusion' is a game that looks great and plays smoothly. Furthermore, the game has too many shortcomings on peripheral matters, which affect the fun and ease of play. For example, the game is sometimes a bit boring and regularly frustrating. It has the potential to be a great game, but comes across as an incomplete group project.

Funko Fusion is, unfortunately, a strong failure, which is a pity because the potential was definitely there, but it was by no means realized. A poor gameplay model, poor technical condition and a mediocre selection of franchises are just the biggest elements that went wrong, and unfortunately there is much more.

Funko Fusion is a below average clone of LEGO games

Considering the mature sense of humor and somewhat obscure references, the simplistic gameplay loop and premise don’t fit at all with its “charming” Lego-esque vibes. There are so many sections that miss the mark, and this game relies fully on the series names and characters that are in it. Some of them might be neat, but rarely do they feel like a reason for you to even consider picking the game up. Add in game breaking bugs, softlocks and more, and there’s basically no reason to give Funko Fusion a go, even for an ironic playthrough.

Funko Fusion is a slog to play. The puzzles are uninteresting, and the third-person shooting is tedious. It uses its mature movie franchises in strange ways, adding glood and violence to old-school slapstick comedy, creating a tonal mess.

Funko Fusion's interesting concept is wasted by its repetitive objectives, horrendous boss fights, and constant technical problems.

Overall, Funko Fusion looks, plays, and runs like an Unreal Engine fan project, while simultaneously having no charm of its own or any real art style aside from the game’s characters being Funko vinyls. The game’s attempts to replicate more popular things fall flat and don’t feel in sync with any of its source materials, as it fails to deliver anything interesting.

Funko Fusion has a lot of the fundamentals down, with large, varied environments, destructible objects, different character loadouts to suit various play styles and tastes, a slew of hidden collectibles to gather, and tons of playable characters to unlock. But, it doesn’t reach its full potential, with awkward weapon aiming and a “try it and see” mentality that doesn’t quite work in a game with this much going on.

A game that offers gameplay surrounding a vast number of classic franchises seems like a perfect concept on paper, but Funko Fusion is held back by not really knowing the audience it’s targeted towards. This, piled on with a number of bugs and performance issues, means we can’t really recommend this to the average gamer.

Funko Fusion is a title we didn’t have high expectations for, yet it still managed to surprise us negatively with its complete lack of polish, mission variety, and gameplay styles.

The devs did well to recreate the look and feel of the worlds I played in but this was not enough to save Funko Fusion. Just like your Funko Pop collection, sad and long forgotten, I can see this game sitting around for years to come collecting dust.

There's only so far pure nostalgia can take you, and it is not enough to carry Funko Fusion to a respectable score. What could have been the most imaginative game out there ends up as a drab and soulless mess which relies on repetitive puzzles and monotonous battles against the same eight enemy types over and over again.

I really wanted to like Funko Fusion, but with repetitive gameplay, outdated franchises, and a buggy experience, it's hard to see who this game is truly for.

Funko Fusion's biggest success is how well it matches the vibe of Funko's uber-popular line of vinyl figures as a whole – joyless, soulless representations of beloved franchises that capture almost none of the charm of the source material. The most culturally-relevant thing here might be the collectible KFC buckets.

The combat feels awkward; the game is buggy, and filled with abrupt cutscene transitions. At the end of the day, we’re left asking, ‘Who is this for?’ Children don’t care about Battlestar Galactica and The Thing, and adults won’t love the boring, simplistic gameplay loop.

Funko Fusion is the inevitable video game adaptation of a toy empire, but it doesn't take long before you want to put these Pops back in the box.

There's just too much to fix to make Funko Fusion worth your time. Even if all the broken issues were fixed, the onslaught of enemies, the confusing puzzles, and zero incentive to help the player will remain. Even after several patches to balance some of these issues, the overall product remains the same, and so will the fundamental issues affecting it.

Funko Fusion’s dull combat and repetitive missions means that just like your Funko Pop collection, it’s probably best left on the shelf.

A well-crafted aesthetic and a distinct sense of humor aren’t enough; Funko Fusion is a half-baked effort in terms of gameplay and level design. A LEGO wannabe that lacks both the compelling gameplay that made the TT Games series popular and a clear sense of how to engage its target audience.

Funko Fusion is unfortunately a complete disaster. The title did not meet my expectations, disappointing me practically in every aspect. Bringing the game to a playable state will take at least several more months, and that's just part of the game problems. The gameplay is unengaging, boring, and the chosen brands are for the most part not interesting enough to forgive the title any flaws. Stay away. It's better to return to LEGO once again than to play Funko. Do not buy under any circumstances.
