Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered Reviews
It's hard to imagine anyone buying Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered because they like the games themselves, as no amount of visual polishing can save this trio of decent to mediocre, and mediocre to awful action-adventures. That been said, if you are into the collecting side of the hobby, and especially if a fan of all things Lara Croft, Aspyr's creation definitely has a place on your shelve.
Aspyr's renovation project tackles the three lesser Crofts, with intriguing results.
A modern control scheme and HD textures clash awkwardly with the boxy old levels of Lara's past, in three of her least interesting adventures.
Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered is an odd release in that only one of its three games can be considered a genuine classic. Yet despite this, it's still a collection we'd tentatively recommend checking out if only to appreciate how such an iconic video game series was almost completely derailed. The remastered visual upgrades – particularly in the fourth and fifth entries – don't always work, but the addition of 60fps performance alongside the retro aesthetics is very welcome indeed. If you're a fan of Tomb Raider or enjoy revisiting flawed curios from days gone by, this might be worth looking into, but this isn't essential like Aspyr's previous Tomb Raider collection.
Whilst these remakes bring the second Tomb Raider trilogy to modern systems, but they simply can't match up to the original trilogy – Chronicles and Angel of Darkness in particular were let downs when they released originally. I can't see this remaster gaining these games any new fans, especially since they control like some kind of device that exists to torture game developers that specialise in traversal mechanics.
Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered is the classic Aspyr remaster: respectful in terms of visuals (although without major changes), with small adjustments that improve the experience and with incalculable value as an exercise in preservation. They may not be the most brilliant Lara Croft games, but they are a treasure that deserves to be “plundered”.

Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered will appeal to hardcore fans, but it won’t grab anyone new.
With another generous set of remasters, we finally have the complete inaugural generation of a Playstation icon. The ports aren't perfect, but a generous selection of modern options balance out the imperfections of Tomb Raider: Last Revelation and its sequel Chronicles. Having The Angel Of Darkness in a good enough state to revisit might be worth the price alone.
Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered is an extremely valid title that continues the idea carried out by the previous collector: to recall memories and introduce the first Lara Croft games to very young people. Accessible just enough, the aesthetic modernization is well done and pleasant to look at, apart from some small problems with the lighting. The rest of the package is about taking measures with the type of games and their release period. For everyone, but even more so, for incurable romantics it is something to absolutely have.

Our first order of business, with regard to Tomb Raider IV–VI Remastered, is to note that no such games existed. Those contained in this collection...
Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered excavates the back half of Lara Croft's first era, but how do they hold up today?
Whether you're a longtime fan or experiencing these adventures for the first time, Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered successfully preserves the essence of these classic games while introducing meaningful improvements. With its enhanced visuals, new features, and expanded control options, this collection cements Lara Croft's legacy as one of gaming's greatest icons. If you love challenging action-adventure games that reward patience, precision, and problem-solving, this is a must-play.
Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered is just about everything fans could have wanted. All the great quality of life features from I-III return here in addition to new restored content for Tomb Raider VI. While this remaster doesn't completely fix the problems with the black sheep of the series, Tomb Raider VI, it does make the experience much better. Like the first collection, IV-VI Remastered is a huge value for what you get and is a must-buy for fans of the series or classic games.
Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered continues the high quality treatment that Aspyr have previously set with Tomb Raider I-III Remstered. Despite some heavy visual overhauls and some nice additional inclusions, the truth of the matter is that these games are just not as strong as the original trilogy. Still, regardless of how you feel, it's hard to deny that Aspyr have done good work here, and these are easily the easiest and most accessible way to play some games that many ardent fans would call underappreciated or misunderstood. Just don't come out expecting them to match the heights of the original trilogy.
Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered is enjoyable, but there are several other action-adventure games that simply do it better. If you like what Tomb Raider has offered so far, you should happily jump into this trilogy. Otherwise, better and cheaper alternatives like the first series of remasters, or the Legend trilogy may prove to be smarter options. Despite any flaws, it's great to see Croft preserved in this way. Hopefully the next three titles also see a collection in future, to finally bring the full series to modern consoles.
The second round of Tomb Raider remasters does a great job in translating the original games to modern hardware.
Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered is a bit like an old vinyl record reissued in digital: the charm remains, but the crackle of time can't be completely erased.

In the end, Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered is less essential than last year's Tomb Raider collection, entirely because the games are inferior. While The Last Revelation remains one of the franchise's better entries, Chronicles is merely decent, and The Angel of Darkness is subpar. Still, thanks to control and graphics options, paired with the 60 fps boost, this newest compilation represents the superior way to experience these titles.
The first trilogy collection was a solid release of nothing but hits with minor roughness to the remaster. It got patched up and became better and hopefully, that might be the case for IV-VI, because it does not seem finished yet. Having retro graphics run at 60 fps is a wonderful option to have and the photo mode is still lots of fun. Even the alternate controls are an interesting way to replay these.
Tomb Raider IV–VI Remastered brings together three games from different eras, each with varying levels of quality at the time of their original release. If you're new to these classics, the collection offers a solid experience. However, for those who have already played them, there isn't much new to discover.
