007 First Light shows that the Hitman developers have a good handle on how to make a James Bond game work within their wheelhouse. The emphasis on less flashy espionage alongside multiple avenues to accomplish your given goal works to this game's favor in helping to differentiate it from past 007 games. There's still enough action to prevent the game from feeling like a complete tonal shift from common expectations. The quality of the stealth helps compensate for the combat, which is good but can feel lacking in areas. The adventure remains fun but familiar, while the presentation is top-notch. The game is another good example of how to do a licensed game well, and the hope is that we'll see IO Interactive do more in this universe, whether that's DLC or a full-on sequel.

007 First Light is an excellent James Bond game: varied gameplay with intelligent approach options, a story worthy of the character's films, beautiful graphics, and great technical performance. The TacSim mode is a great way to increase the title's longevity. Although the campaign features many slow-paced moments with secondary characters and combat animations that repeat frequently, it's an adventure that deserves to be checked out by any 007 fan or action game enthusiast in general.

007 First Light features a sophisticated and comprehensive infiltration system, as well as solid hand-to-hand combat mechanics. The lackluster cover system does not detract from what could mark a new era for 007 in the world of video games.

007 First Light is a great start to what will hopefully be a new series of games. There are certainly some areas to improve upon but what's here is a lot of fun and it does a great job of delivering a game that feels worthy of the franchise while setting the stage for more. 🍸

"IO Interactive's greatest triumph isn't just crafting a solid spy-action title, but masterfully capturing the definitive feeling of being James Bond. From the very start, the game injects the poise, lethal skill, and relentless drive of a top-tier MI6 agent straight into your veins. Driven by fluid gameplay, a seamless narrative, striking visuals, and a perfectly synchronized score, every piece elegantly comes together to deliver the ultimate 007 power fantasy."

007: First Light is a title that fans of the 007 franchise definitely needed. It is a near-perfect simulation of a James Bond video game, complete with engaging gameplay, great presentation, and a compelling narrative that encapsulates the franchise’s identity. It is, without a doubt, the best 007 game of all time, and no other game in the franchise comes close.

007 First Light is an excellent stealth-action game wrapped in one of entertainment's most iconic licenses. It offers gorgeous visuals, strong performances, satisfying stealth mechanics, and an engaging origin story for James Bond. At the same time, it leans so heavily on the foundation established by Hitman that longtime fans may struggle to see it as a truly original experience. If you've always wanted Hitman with more story, more action, and the unmistakable style of James Bond, you'll probably have a fantastic time. If you were hoping for a revolutionary reinvention of the spy genre, you may walk away feeling like you've simply replayed a familiar masterpiece dressed in a tuxedo.

The slow pacing in the first third of 007 First Light wasn't my cup of tea. But when the game really gets going, it might just be the best video game adaption of the world famous spy ever.

Is 007 First Light a good James Bond story? Absolutely. But is it a good game? Of course it is. It’s a great blend of stealth and action with a very cinematic story that could easily fit into the main movie series. IOI really gets the character and the universe, and I hope they get the chance to make a sequel despite the obvious hints in the game.

007 First Light is easily one of the best James Bond games of all time. Sitting up there with the likes of GoldenEye and Everything or Nothing to deliver an instant classic 007 experience, with fluid and fast-paced combat, a story that actually managed to surprise. Thanks to some solid writing and genuinely interesting characters. Though there are a few smaller issues scattered throughout, holding it back from that next level.

007 First Light marks a grand return for James Bond in the world of video games. Amazing graphics and a tightly paced story round out an exciting adventure filled with bombastic moments and action. Satisfying hand-to-hand combat and fleshed-out stealth mechanics fill the adventure and make up for sometimes lacking gunplay. While some jarring separation between sections can take players out of the experience, First Light still shines through as a wonderful love letter to everything Bond.

As it stands, 007 First Light is an outstanding action-adventure, combining a creative origin story with satisfying gunplay, refined melee combat, and sandbox inspired levels that reward creativity and exploration. Even after the credits roll, the TacSim mode provides plenty of incentive to return, making this a game that’s just as enjoyable on a second or third playthrough as it is the first. Few games leave me eager to jump back in the moment I complete the story, but 007 First Light does exactly that. When I’m not playing 007 First Light, all I’m thinking about is playing 007 First Light. It’s the kind of experience that practically begs to be completed 100%, and one I’ll happily play all the way to that Platinum trophy.

007 First Light isn’t just another run-of-the-mill game. It’s a 100% immersive, highly cinematic, and unexpectedly human experience that knows exactly how to captivate players from the very first minute. Personally, I was completely swept away by this ride. It offers a brilliantly written story, likable characters, a genius soundtrack, and flawless gameplay with minimal flaws. If you’re currently looking for an immersive adventure crafted with first-class care, this is a bull’s-eye. An exceptional game that proves that, after all, anything is possible with care.

007 First Light is an impressive reinterpretation of James Bond that finally dares to prioritise character, nuance and modern cinematography. IO Interactive has delivered a campaign that is truly spectacular. The stealth sections and hand-to-hand combat are among the best in the genre, and the action sequences can effortlessly rival those of the film series. Although the linear structure and a few technical glitches sometimes dampen the immersion, First Light remains one of the most compelling Bond games ever made. It is a stylish, mature and compelling origin story that restores Bond’s relevance – one that clearly lays the foundations for a new generation of 00 games.

First Light is a wonderful action-adventure with a great story, terrific presentation, and just the right mix of action and espionage — one I can easily recommend to any Bond fan, especially if you enjoy linear, narrative-driven games. However, if you're looking for a mechanically demanding, challenging gameplay experience, or expect your choices to carry far-reaching consequences, you won't get your money's worth here.

Those expecting a structure as deep as Hitman, allowing for hours of experimentation with different possibilities in each mission, should adjust their expectations accordingly. 007 First Light is a more cinematic, more controlled, and faster-paced game.

007: First Light is not only a great new interpretation of James Bond but a great game in general. While the combat of the game doesn't do much new, the incredibly engaging stealth segments and the near endless replay ability of this title will keep the attention of any gamer for the rest of the year. Do not miss out on this great spy title.
