Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is simply a decent game, but – in my opinion – it lacks that certain something found in the latest instalments of the series. The changes to both land and sea combat make for a brilliant experience in the first dozen or so hours of play, but ultimately it very quickly becomes rather monotonous.

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag Resynced is much more than a visual remake. It brings one of the best entries in the series into the modern Assassin's Creed era with improved visuals, controls, stealth, combat, naval battles and expanded content, while preserving the pirate freedom, Caribbean atmosphere and strong exploration that made the original so memorable. It is only held back by the lack of a proper skill system for Edward, as perks and trinkets do not fully replace deeper character progression.

Assassin's Creed: Black Flag Resynced is a good but very safe remake. I still had a shocking amount of fun just sailing around and doing pirate things on the wide ocean, but the game lacks a certain confidence, and that keeps it from being a truly exceptional remake. It's a great way to revisit Edward's adventures with fewer rough patches, better graphics, and some extra content. Fans of the original will have a grand old time.
Overall, Ubisoft has done an excellent job reamking one of the best entries in the Assassin's Creed series. Everything that made the original so memorable has been preserved, while a host of thoughtful improvements make it more enjoyable than ever. If you've been longing for the days when Assassin's Creed was at the peak of its popularity, or if you've always wanted to see why the franchise's older titles are still so beloved, Black Flag Resynced is an experience you absolutely shouldn't miss—even if it still carries over a few shortcomings, such as its dated AI.

Thirteen years later, Edward Kenway’s story still stands among Ubisoft’s finest, the Caribbean remains one of the most inviting worlds the series has ever created, and sailing the Jackdaw across open waters is somehow just as difficult to put down as it was the first time. That isn’t just because Black Flag was ahead of its time. It’s because some adventures simply deserve another voyage.
Thirteen years later, Black Flag still proves what was already clear back in 2013: it's a far better pirate adventure than it is a traditional Assassin's Creed, and that's arguably its greatest strength. Resynced improves almost every aspect of the original, adds a fair amount of new content, and makes exploring the Caribbean more immersive than ever. Technical issues and a handful of questionable design decisions keep it from reaching true greatness, but it's still an solid remake and one of Ubisoft's strongest releases in recent years, delivering dozens of engaging hours on the high seas.

Now revamped with absolutely stunning visuals that breathe new life into the pirate’s journey through the Caribbean, Black Flag Resynced proves that the reasons why it was so beloved by fans of the series (and beyond) were entirely deserved. With a world full of secrets to uncover, a captivating story and cast, and a vast sea to conquer, this remake has not escaped the clutches of modern Ubisoft, which includes battle passes and microtransactions in a single-player game, a whole host of recurring bugs, and a combat system that could have been better. Despite all this, I have to admit that I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the 40 or so hours I’ve spent on this title so far, even though the caveats mentioned are factors that prevent this fine slice of piracy from truly surpassing the original version.

Thirteen years later, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced hasn’t lost any of its charm, and for me, it’s coming at just the right time. For quite a while now, I’ve been itching to build a fleet with Edward Kenway again and just follow my nose as I explore the Caribbean, board ships, and dive for underwater treasure. The new officers and missions fit seamlessly into the familiar framework and, along with the many tweaks scattered throughout, bring a breath of fresh air to the black sails. For me, this return trip to the Caribbean with Edward Kenway was totally worth it!

Phew, I could write so much more, but listing everything that’s possible here would take too long—and I really want to get back to the TV and continue my adventure. Did I mention just how damn amazing the game looks and how incredibly smooth the gameplay feels now? Anyone who liked the original will love *Assassin’s Creed Black Flag: Resynced*. To everyone else, I can highly recommend this game—a pure single-player adventure just like in the good old days. Heave the anchor, cast off the lines, and hoist the mainsail—here comes (for me) the best adventure game of the year, and—I’m certain—the best *Assassin’s Creed* game of them all!

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced proves to be an excellent remake engaging and well worth playing. The Ubisoft team has successfully built upon the strengths of the original title, enhancing them in this long-awaited version released 13 years later, and presenting them at their very best. The adventure is compelling and highly entertaining, particularly thanks to its exploration and naval combat, which can keep players immersed for hours on end. However, despite how enjoyable the game is, especially at this early stage of its lifecycle, it is affected by several shortcomings and bugs that significantly impact the overall experience. In some cases, these issues force players to reload the game using fast travel or previous save files. Over the course of dozens of hours of gameplay, I encountered multiple problems with Edward during on-foot exploration, occasionally finding myself in situations where the character would become completely stuck for no apparent reason. At other times, invisible walls would appear in front of certain buildings, preventing me from climbing them regardless of whether the building was located in the center of the map or whether I had just climbed down from it moments earlier while exploring freely.

Black Flag still reminds me why it remains my favourite Assassin’s Creed game. It captures the fantasy of being a pirate better than almost anything else, while delivering one of the franchise’s strongest stories and most memorable protagonists. Resynced doesn’t replace those memories. It enhances them, proving that this classic still has plenty of wind left in its sails.
Assassin´s Creed Black Flag Resynced updates a classic without betraying its essence, expanding the story, crew and tools while refining combat, stealth and navigation. Some tailing missions still show their age, but returning to the Caribbean feels smoother, bigger and far more spectacular.

Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced is a well-crafted reimagining of an excellent pirate adventure. Scoring the game is naturally a bit tricky, however. For players who have already experienced the original, this otherwise excellent package doesn't quite justify the purchase in my opinion. On the other hand, newcomers to Edward Kenway's adventures—or anyone who still enjoys Ubisoft's annual Assassin's Creed releases—can comfortably add another star to the final score and pick up the game without worrying about disappointment.

Overall, Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced is an excellent re-entry to the Assassin’s Creed series. A lot of the quality of life changes that have been made to combat allows for a more engaging and fluid system, the expansion of the story line to see deeper character growth, and obviously the complete graphic overhaul bridges the gap between Black Flag’s original release and the more modern entries allowing a new generation of gamers to dive into Black Flag.
