We can guarantee that minigames as immediate, engaging, and fun as those in the Sports series and Nintendo Switch Sports Resort, specifically, are hard to come by.

If you've played one of Nintendo's Sports or Sports Resort games before, whether on Wii or not, this collection isn't likely to excite or inspire as it's all, by now, well worn territory-even if bowling is still a clear standout. Efforts to expand the experience with free roam feel rather strange, and the online helping and infrastructure doesn't feel robust enough to keep the attention of players, or families, when the console has better party options.
Nintendo Switch Sports Resort remains as fun and innovative as seventh generation predecessor and even more reason to make the Switch to the new system.
Has Nintendo finally recaptured the magic of Wii Sports, two decades later? Short answer: a resounding yes. Nintendo Switch Sports Resort doesn't reinvent the idea, but it serves a surprisingly content rich package with plenty of mechanical depth and content. The simplicity is still very much at its core, but there's a significant amount more nuance and refinement. Nintendo Switch Sports Resort is very much a game that anyone can enjoy, with room for competitive players to push further. Most importantly, it's a lot of fun!
A decent amount of content and the games, while varying in quality, are as fun as ever if lacking in depth. Still an experience that depends on how many enthusiastic friends you have around, unless you get hooked on the online mode.

Nintendo has put together a diverse range of events, and the excellent precision of the Joy-Con controllers ensures that activities like archery, boxing, bowling - and even a simple game of thumb wrestling - can deliver plenty of excitement.

Nintendo Switch Sports Resort is an interesting evolution of the formula. It introduces some interesting new features, and while it stumbles with a few of its ideas, it manages to preserve and build upon what makes this franchise absurdly fun to play.

Nintendo Switch Sports Resort successfully brings back Wuhu Island with sharp Joy-Con 2 motion precision and a clever mouse-driven skateboarding mode, delivering an infectious local multiplayer party despite a lifeless open world and a frustrating cosmetic lottery.

Nintendo Switch Sports Resort is not only a fantastic improvement over its predecessor, fixing everything that had it wrong, it’s the best “Nintendo Sports” game, it’s a great casual game, a great competitive game and a great party game. Even with some bumps, I couldn’t recommend it more.
Nintendo Switch Sports Resort is a significant improvement over its predecessor, offering a greater variety of sports and modes alongside intuitive, immersive motion controls. The excellent two-player co-op and family-friendly design make it an ideal party game, although some activities become repetitive, and basketball takes time to master. Despite a few limitations, it delivers an entertaining experience that shines when playing with family and friends.

Nintendo Switch Sports Resort is as enjoyable as ever and, above all, brings back memories of the good old days of Wii Sports Resort. There are a few more sports available than in Nintendo Switch Sports, though I personally think Nintendo could have added a few more. The controls feel great, the music creates that wonderfully soothing vibe, and there’s more than enough to do.

Nintendo Switch Sports Resort represents a natural evolution for Nintendo’s sports series. It retains the immediate fun of its predecessors while offering more content to explore and stronger reasons to keep playing, even solo. For those who miss the simplicity of Wii Sports or want a sports collection that makes good use of the Switch 2’s features, this is a welcome return—and one of the games I’ll likely spend the most time playing on the console.

It’s Wii Sports, Pilotwings, and Wave Race all at once. This is the kind of tech demo that should have accompanied the Switch 2 at launch, whether bundled with the console or sold as a launch title. Not only does it showcase some genuinely clever uses of the joycons’ motion controls, but it also builds entertaining game modes around them.
Nintendo Switch Sports Resort succeeds fully its bet: to offer fun and challenge to players of all generations. The mechanics of movement are inspired, varied enough not to make us blow with boredom after 3 sessions. On the contrary, the title manages to diversify pleasures, inflate its content in challenge of all kinds, even to keep us captivated by exploration sessions. Everything is not perfect, but we like to master every mechanic and go to the end of every sporting experience offered. A beautiful surprise that will probably please the children, but not only...

Nintendo Switch Sports Resort recaptures the magic of local multiplayer thanks to brilliant motion controls. Despite uneven minigames like boxing and the omission of a few classic modes, it remains a thoroughly entertaining choice for group play.
