Just like Katrielle, this game has a reputation to live up to. And it is indeed a Layton game, just with different strengths and weaknesses.

The staleness has begun to set in by now, but Layton's Mystery Journey is still a charming, sweet game with some great puzzles that engaged series fans and newcomers alike will fall in love with.

While the story leaves a little to be desired, Layton's Mystery still makes for an enjoyable entry into the puzzling series.

conclusion, with the interesting part kicking in way, way too late into the game and being left quickly after with an unsatisfying conclusion made me feel like I had simply wasted my time. Having to drone through shallow plots and mysteries that the player figures out ages before Katrielle does just left me wanting to skip directly to the next puzzle or go back and play a much better Layton game.

After six successful games and a brilliant spin off, the Layton saga begins anew with this episode, but the end result it's not on par with the quality level we were used to. It's simpler, a little shorter and, more than this, it's double the price if compared to the identical mobile version.

Even though a bit harder to play compared to the original, the wonderfully designed puzzles, characters and music make this game a wonderful experience. Players that enjoy brain teasers without being forced into a time constraint will enjoy Katrielle and the Millionaire's Conspiracy - Deluxe Edition, as a relaxing and sometimes infuriating title - but remember that every puzzle has an answer!

Initially I was worried that Layton sans the titular professor would be a problem. In the end that wasn't where the issues lay with Layton's Mystery Journey. I'm certainly on board with Katrielle taking over and having the kind of long career that her father did, but Level-5 does need to get some fresh new puzzle-designers in, because with this game they dropped the ball too frequently for a series of this calibre.

Puzzle-solving adventure is back with some improvements and more puzzle. Good choice for Nintendo Switch players.

A charming and joyful game with a rich amount of content, but a slow and simplistic plot throughout the majority of the game and a seemingly rushed ending, in addition to some dubious puzzles make this, while still good,  an overall inferior entry in the series.

Kat may be a Layton but she's far from "the" Layton everyone knows and loves. Layton's Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaires' Conspiracy feels more like a pale imitation with glimpses of the greatness that has come before. There's a ton of potential here and the adventure is still enjoyable, but just falls short. It holds a lot of promise for the future, at least, and the story wraps up with plenty of questions unanswered. Level-5 is clearly ready to keep this story going; however, hopefully it is with something much better and more deserving of the series' lineage.

The new iteration of the Level-5 adventure series does not impress when it comes to puzzles, plot and character development, but despite that Layton's Mystery Journey is a great start for a new cycle in the franchise history. If you loved the previous games of the saga, you will definitely enjoy the new adventure of Katrielle Layton, but we hope that in future Level-5 and Nintendo could join forces to create something really special based on Nintendo Switch unique features.

I enjoyed my time with Layton's Mystery Journey. The puzzles and investigative work are enjoyable as usual, but that special sauce from previous Layton titles has been left out.

Katrielle's adventure makes your brain work for progress on the Switch. With 40 new puzzles the game is the largest Layton game yet. The game is ported fantastically for the Switch and has never looked as great as this before. A definite must buy!

Katrielle Layton successfully entered the detective world of her father. This installment has been here for 2 years already, however, this version truly is a definitive one.

With a tonne of puzzles included in the campaign, daily puzzles available to download, secrets to find and a story to unravel, Katrielle And The Millionaire’s Conspiracy is a great Switch game and a worthy addition to the Layton franchise

I don't want to seem too down on Layton’s Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaires' Conspiracy - Deluxe Edition. LEVEL-5 included all of the original version's DLC while adding a ton of additional content and there's a lot of game here for your money. For the most part, you'll spend your time solving pleasant puzzles, enjoying a pleasant story, and having a pleasant time.

As a non-expert on father Layton's predecessors, I experienced in Layton's Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaires conspiracy Deluxe a fun-loving detective who solves many nice puzzles in a charming adventure across London, but has to give up on suspense and surprising Solutions because of the child-friendly presentation.

If you’re a lover of puzzle games and whimsical animation in a Britain of talking dogs handing out riddles, it may be worth a peek, but it’s only mandatory for fans of the series.

The puzzles are both fun and challenging, which somewhat make up for the uncompelling story and generally weak characters.

Layton's Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaires' Conspiracy takes the saying 'Truth is stranger than fiction' to a level that not even children can believe. If you can look past the ridiculousness of the contrived drama you'll find plenty of gems in the form of delightful brain teasers.
