The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing II by Neocore Games is the second instalment in a trilogy of hack 'n slash Van Helsing games to come to console.  Already available on PC since 2014, Van Helsing II boasts "PS4 Pro Enhanced" support and can also be played as a standalone game with no prior knowledge of the first adventure. For those of you that have never heard of Van Helsing, well he is the son of legendary vampire hunter Abraham Van Helsing found in Bram Stoker's awesome novel "Dracula".  If you love all things gothic and creatures such as zombies, ogres, vampires and other occult beings then this is for you!

The wait was definitely worth it just to get the complete package in one go. It's a pretty big game, far bigger than the first on, so you can expect to spent a ton of hours hacking and slashing your way through this adventure. There's a Platinum trophy available at the end of the road for all of your trouble, so get to it! The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing II is a great sequel and a solid action game you should play today on PS4.

The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing II improves over the original in some ways, but fails in many others. There are a number of great quality of life improvements here and two new classes are very welcome. Unfortunately, the meat of the game is the combat, and it's just not very interesting. It becomes a chore to trudge through enemies and there's not even the pull of an intriguing or interesting story to keep you motivated.

With sequels it is always hard to see if they can up the ante, And here we have a very mediocre approach.

NeoCore's aRPG The Amazing Adventures of Van Helsing II has finally arrived on the PS4 and it's an enjoyable adventure but lacks polish and becomes a tad repetitive

The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing II builds upon the original foundation, but it is still an average Action-RPG that features the usual genre tropes. Unfortunately, there is very little to set it apart from its predecessor, let alone the rest of the ARPG crowd.

Van Helsing II is more of the same, both good and bad. I really enjoyed the core game play, loot gathering, and environments in the game. I did not appreciate that most of the technical issues of the first title on consoles also came with it.

Van Helsing II isn't a huge improvement over its predecessor, but it's certainly starting to show increasing signs of becoming an excellent RPG. Unfortunately, the game is still hindered by some combat issues and a bland story, but the basics are there, we just have to hope the Neocore continue to improve on their IP.

A gothic action RPG jeweled with easter eggs and playful banter, The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing 2 is a gripping experience bursting at the seems with personality.

The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing II is a much better showing than the original. It's what a sequel should be; it improves on nearly everything while adding brand new ideas to the pile. Best of all, the core gameplay mechanics are still a blast to use and really spice up a genre that if often left untouched. It certainly has its shortcomings, but fans of games like the Diablo series, Torchlight, Titan Quest, or Path of Exile will love it.

It's not quite up there with the best in the business, but NeocoreGames should be happy with the steps they are taking to get there, and I have trust that Van Helsing III will be even better. Fans of the genre should fully enjoy what is on offer here, and newcomers who are looking for a few days of cooperative fun –  problems with pacing and small glitches aside – should gather some friends and sit back and enjoy a few evenings of Victorian dungeon crawling – it's finger clicking good.

The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing II is not just a Diablo clone. It's incredibly fun and offers a wide variety of unique aspects of the game to have it stand out on its own. If you didn't play the first game, you may be a little confused in terms of the story, but it's an incredibly fun game.

There is no question that Van Helsing II is head and shoulders above its predecessor in terms of game play and in the replayability factor that the additional two classes bring to the game. It's a solid entry into the aRPG market and one that fans of the genre are sure to enjoy. It's a fantastic bargain and quite a lot of fun to play.

Bests the original with sensible improvements to combat and world design. Tower defense missions are packed with great action and other additional features improve replay value.

As a general rule – when your game's release date is just a year after the first, but you've more than doubled the amount of content, you might want to rethink that timeframe. The team has been hard at work on these issues, and there have been frequent updates since release, each nailing down small portions of bugs and balance issues, but it's hard to make a second first impression. Despite the technical issues, NeocoreGames ultimately delivers more of what we fell in love with in the first Van Helsing title. Hopefully they take a little more time to iron things out to conclude this very compelling trilogy.

While there's enough content to keep players satisfied, the indistinguishability residing within it's control scheme and gameplay mechanics, make the experience feel all too similar to other games within the same genre.

For all intents and purposes, Van Helsing II is more of the same. It just so happens that "same" is really, really good. Action RPG players should not pass this game up, and dungeon crawling fans looking for a satisfying loot and stat game need look no further.
