Astro Bot would stand tall as a platformer on its own, but it genuinely uses virtual reality to elevate it beyond that. Delightful and joyous, It's one of the best VR games to date, and an essential part of every PSVR library.

It’s fair to say that few other games have enchanted me this year as much as this platformer.
Astro Bot Rescue Mission neatly unfolds platforming's trick and tropes with immunity from the traditional hazards of virtual reality. Immersed in Astro Bot's kinetic charm and engaged by its clever novelties, you're left admiring the medium's strengths rather than cursing its limitations. Astro Bot is a treasure for PlayStation VR enthusiasts.
Priced at a lower entry point than most retail releases, Astro Bot: Rescue Mission is a must play for owners of the PlayStation VR headset, even for those who may not necessarily have a fondness for platformers or are turned off by the cute, cartoon-like aesthetics of the game.
Moss previously showed players that PSVR experiences didn't have to necessarily be first person only and Astro Bot Rescue Mission exemplifies this mentality, taking things one step further than the more diorama-esque levels of the aforementioned title by placing players directly inside the levels themselves.
Considered as part of the Playstation VR title park, Astro Bot: Rescue Mission is undoubtedly among the best productions designed for the Sony peripheral; thanks to the creativity of the developers, who were able to make full use of the possibilities offered by the headset. Considered as a platformer, however, the game shows the side of numerous weaknesses, above all an excessive linearity of the levels and an almost non-existent level of challenge throughout the duration of the main adventure.

At the end of the day, Astro Bot Rescue Mission is an incredibly fun platformer that plays great and is even greater in VR. While not consistently mind-blowing, it often surprised me by its inventive level design and VR implementation, making it easily the title to own if you want a quality experience that is as innocent as it is fun to play.
A charming platformer with an abundance of ideas and a decent challenge, one that utilizes VR well to make you feel part of the game world.
