There are small things we can do for refugees via the appropriate charities, or through our political systems. We can also listen to their stories. Bury Me, My Love is brilliant storytelling.

Bury Me, My Love isn’t, first and foremost, a treaty about refugee-ism: it’s a compelling and effective game about deciding what the hell to do next.

Nour's journey can be an extremely tough one to undertake, but Bury Me, My Love should be experienced as a lesson in both empathy and wonderful text-based storytelling. Remembering that the emotional story has its basis in true events will make you consider the struggles of those less fortunate.

Bury Me, My Love is an ambitious game with a great premise. I just wish it didn't feel so disingenuous so much of the time.

A very successful attempt to address real world news events in a video game that always feels realistic but never manipulative.

This Switch version is a correct port of the original mobile game, but we strongly recommend you play it on its original platform.

Bury me, my Love is a beautiful, touching story about one Syrian refugee's journey. Its messaging app interface makes it easy to connect with and become emotionally invested in, making the storytelling all the more impactful. Still, without the option of going back and reviewing difficult choices, it may become repetitive upon subsequent playthroughs, despite boasting 19 different endings.

Using only text messages, Bury me, my Love develops two relatable main characters and tells the engaging story of a Syrian woman's search for refuge in Europe after her sister is killed in a bombing. The game rewards multiple playthroughs with its compelling writing and interesting storylines, though replaying the same passages can be tedious.

Bury Me, My Love is both poignant and prescient — a moving account of the trials of migrants, and a gentle reminder that the constant politicisation of their plight makes it all too easy to forget our own humanity.

Bury Me, My Love isn’t always an easy trek, perhaps reflecting its subject matter, and it’s still better suited to mobile phones. But it’s so emotionally engaging that, despite multiple, doomed playthroughs, you won’t leave Nour’s side until you’ve guided her to safety.

Bury me, my Love has to sides. One side is an amazing story with lovely characters and many possible choices leading to different chains of events and different endings. The other side is a boring gameplay that just allows gamers to choose the text messages and see the consequences.

Bury Me, My Love is an remarkable exercise in building empathy. It’s a simple game, but so much more razor focused and successful at creating authenticity than most games that have budgets of a hundred million. Most importantly, however, is that no game is telling a story of greater importance to the world at the moment than Bury Me, My Love.

As a narrative experience, it tells a meaningful and powerful tale, but the form and delivery on Switch simply don't lend themselves to being player-friendly or engaging. On mobile, It follows in the footsteps of excellent alternate-reality titles like Lifeline, and such games are perfectly suited to that platform. In making the jump to Switch, what gives Bury me, my Love its charm is lost, and the process of revisiting the story is just too frustrating to overcome. Dig up the mobile version and leave the Switch port buried in the eShop.

Bury Me, My Love is a good and touching story. It's not a long game, but definitely long enough to fall in love with the characters and enjoy your time with this title. Plus, there are up to nineteen different endings waiting for you.

Bury me, my Love is an emotional narrative-driven adventure game which leaves you thinking about things long after putting your Switch down. You'll come across a lot of situations and events which seem rather horrific and abusive, yet the most horrifying thing is that a lot of the events are based upon real accounts from people who have travelled this path in real life. As a game, there's so much content, nineteen endings, multiple journey pathways, and many different branches along the way, it's an experience you'll play many times and still find something new.
